I've read all of the Batman Beyond comics they released, but they cancelled it when the New 52 launched and I was just curious if they had ever mentioned bringing it back?

but its gonna be an experimental release

they have digital short chapters of each series released each week, then on the final wednesday of the month, they release an oversized issue collecting both series.

Isn't it suppose to be Justice League Beyond not Justice League Unlimited. Also If you haven't read that Batman Beyond title that got cancelled when the new 52 came out would you be able to understand what's going in this new title.

I know, but on http://dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=21090 it says the debut of Justice League Beyond. I don't think it has anything to do with JLU.

This looks like it could be very cool, a whole new playground for the JLB characters and it all ties heavily into BmB so there is very firm entrance for readers. Part of my problem with characters like Batman and the various JL, JLA, JS etc is that the defining characters all have their own isolated universes that are supposed to coincide. Batman books are heavily self contained and even Green Lanterns don't make sense, isn't there anything else that deserves their attention in the whole sector? the JL universe does not mesh well with these exclusive settings and vice versa so they use baddies like Darkseid to compensate for the gaps.

Justice League Beyond has no fanboy rage tying it the ground, they can do just about anything they want and I think that is how good stories are born. I wish I hadn't given away my Batman Beyond stuff when I was cleaning out my collection, but at the end of the latest BmB run Terry joins the JL against the orders of Bruce and says something like "Gotham is my number one priority, that will never change and if you need me for a mission, it had better be important" this allows the already cemented character to keep his role intact, in fact this is no different than how Bruce should have ever viewed any of these team-ups but he is there when it doesn't make sense for his lone character. At the beginning of Justice League Dark he is in space acting as mission coordinator, no where near Gotham and watching a bunch of other people do the work, this makes no sense for Bruce. But its clear that JLB will be considerate of the characters instead of using them as props.

There was the animated Justice League Unlimited and the comic based on the show that went by the same name. So it might get confusing to name the new comic that same name. So yeah, the title for the team part of the comic (in digital or collected later) will go by the name of "Justice League Beyond", so people know that it relates to the Batman Beyond universe. They just won't be called that inside the comic itself...either referred to as the JLU or the Justice League.

There ya go :)

There is so much about this universe that would be awesome to read more about. I hope Batman and Batman Beyond fans get behind this title and see where DC takes it.

The link to JLU is that characters from JLU have interacted with the Beyond universe (John Stewart, Hawkgirl, Static Shock and of course Batman) either by time traveling or shared history. However, the JLU of the future (in the Beyond universe) is not called JLU or JL Beyond. They are just the Justice League (in the Beyond universe, timeline).

Granted, this is the way it was prior to the DCnU, but it should likely be about the same now.

Me neither, but it's better than nothing. Although I was almost positive Batman Beyond was going to be its own series again. But we'll see...

I just finished the second chapter of the Batman Beyond Prelude, I really like where the story is going so far, though I kind of wish Dana's brother was given more time to develop before we got his reveal at the end.

Speaking of Dana's brother, he was drawn rather inconsistently in this chapter, he seemed like a cardboard cut out in the scene where he opens the door for Terry and then in the end he looked way more Asian than he had previously appeared to be so that I didn't even recognize him until he mentioned his sister was Dana.

Other than that minor inconsistency and the way Bruce looked in the beginning the art was great though, I'm looking forward to read the whole thing later next week.

Can't wait for this. I am hoping this will replace my quota of good clean comic fun since Omac is getting cancelled :(
I loved the show when it was out, and ROTJ uncut really really holds up still. I wasn't floored by the newer 6 issue hush mini, almost like there were too many reveals at once or something, shoe-horned in. Same writer, eh? I just got the trade of the cancelled because of the nu 52 relaunch B.B. 8 issue series.
Anyway. I'm still excited... and this whole 3-in-1 format is really cool. I bought all of the first comics series as it was coming out back when, loved those. Some real winning tales came out of that comic. Hope this new comic can release some classics too. Lot of fertile ground. Fellow comic lovers I suggest checking out these maybe overlooked beyond universe issues: batman / superman annual #4 , superman beyond, and terry's appearance in superman adventures # 64.

Wow a Black Lantern before Geoff Johns.

Yeah, it's kind of funny looking back on it. He didn't raise the dead though, his ring just sapped power from GL rings, making him more like the Black Hand than Johns' Black Lanterns.

The Batman Beyond series that was released while the show was on was great, I loved the arc with the Black Lantern and Kai Ro.

I went back and reread those issues (21,22). What a fun story, though we don't get much of an origin for that black lantern. It didn't really matter. Anyway funny to see Terry knock G.L. out yet again! Like he did in the 2011 series JLU arc. Kind of messed up, beating on a kid ! ha
I think that 99' series really had something going for it- It had one of the writers from the show writing it.

I'm halfway though the 2011 series trade, I will finish it tonight. But kind of weird that is it is tying(issue 4,not to mention the whole hush thing) a lot into current bat comic continuity. If I was a writer writing a future book... I would kind of make my own mythos ETC. why tie into morrison's run? And this is fairly recent bat lore. To see it reflecting in the future kind of feels a little too much, too convenient. But it is a minor gripe, glad that Terry is back... I think the writer voices him well. And I guess a new feel is better than same old same old. I'm in! But I would enjoy some forthcoming reveals and retcons that are not tied into anything else, so it's more of a surprise shocker.

It was really well written, as were the other comics based on the cartoons.
As for adding new continuity to the Beyond universe I can't say I was too bothered by it, after all B:TAS did it a few times while it was on such as when they included Bane, so the move seemed like a part of the legacy to me.
The strong point is that it's all new not every story should include elements from the main continuity but if used sparingly I'm cool with it.

Yes, it comes out first in digital installments, then in print. Sign me up for print. Issue 1 is due out this Wednesday the 29th.

All my gripes were laid to rest, finishing the trade last night I was pleasantly surprised. The supporting characters actually have subplots for once, and ones interesting too. Love the undercloud plot. And new characters are introduced- Dana's bro. The Wayne development was the best though. Two thumbs up.

The Undercloud subplot is nice, and I was really interested in the one with Dana's brother until the reveal in the last digital chapter. I mean, I saw it coming but I didn't think it would be so abrupt; it sort of lost it's impact because it wasn't given enough time to develop. It might work out better in the story but I was left a little cold by the digital prelude.

Agreed with all that about not developing Dana's brother. Saw the Anarchy symbol and thought for a quick second since it's Breyfogle and all that it might be, well, a grown up Anarky. But anyway, god I just love Breyfogle's art. Even if the writing is... average, occasionally good.

I do like what we've seen so far about Norm's art, it was pretty great, except for the two panels of Dana's brother standing in the door way talking to Terry. He just looked so flat, there was zero depth to him.

I just read my first Batman Beyond.
Quick questions.
Is Dana Tan chinese?
Is Warhawk still Shayera and John's son?
Wheres Wonder Woman?
What happened to Aquaman?
Is this Aquagirl the same one as the Lorena I know of?
This is not in new 52 continuity right?

Sorry not very well versed in the Beyond universe.
Also, my thoughts are, Terry seems uninteresting, I'm getting this book mostly cos of Superman Beyond series starting soon and I Aquagirl seems cool.
Also Barbara Gordon can walk (yay)

no idea though she is supposed to still be around as hero
no idea though he is likely still residing in Atlantis
no, she is the child of Arthur
correct, the universe is based on the DCAU
