Four Titles Gail Simone Should Be Writing for DC

What four titles, present or not, do you think Gail Simone should write for DC? Have fun, or explain your reasonings. My four:

Batgirl - She's writing it now

Cyborg - For a character that is getting so much play lately, but doesn't have his own title...what gives?

Deadshot - People probably think Catman, but I think Deadshot brings more to the table, plus she's written this type of character before in a solo (Deadpool), not to mention she's familiar with the character.

Ragdoll - Really...why not? Could be a very fun book.

Eh. I'm of the mind that Gail is hit or miss with a lot of things. Her run on WW was subpar, imo. And while I enjoyed her Birds of Prey and Secret Six, much of her other work I just did not care for. But I would enjoy seeing her on Power Girl or a Black Canary mini/ongoing.

If not The Secret Six, they should let her restart The Suicide Squad. She obviously knows the characters better than Glass.

Gail is one of the few authors that have disappointed me the most since the relaunch, which is odd since she is one of my favorites. Still, I would like to see her writing these titles:

Gen13

JLI

Power Girl

Shazam!

Any one of these would be a nice choice since it would fit her sense of humor.

Ragdoll - Really...why not? Could be a very fun book.

I wanted to see a Bane/Ragdoll Team up series since the early days of her Secret Six.

Barring that Ragdoll and/or Plastic Man might be fun.

Judging her work on Welcome to Tranquility and how she dealt with multiple generations, I'd like to see her take a stab at Teen Titans (though not the current Lobdell version, though I am enjoying that on its own merits).

She shines with dialog so almost any team, that allows for multiple dynamics among multiple members is for the best. Checkmate maybe?

Why do I say Doom Patrol? Because Gail liked the idea that the Chief should be de-retconned back into DC's original badass handicapped hero. I never liked the retcon that turned him into a manipulative jerk. I'm not sure how well Gail can write strange stories (and they don't really have to be that strange), but I think she could do a great job with the characterizations.

Adam Glass seems to be the only writer who doesn't know how to write the Suicide Squad.

Yeah the whole concept where they take a known quantity like "Gail Simone on a renumbered Secret Six volume, or a new Suicide Squad would be a critical darling and sell like hot-cakes" and you know ... opt NOT to ... kind of insane.

Pre-Flashpoint Secret Six and the Blackest Night Suicide Squad crossovers with Ostrander were some of the best comics I've read in the last few years. Now? As much as I like the PITCH of taking Deadshot and King Shark, returning them to the Squad, and adding Harley Quinn because she kind of totally makes sense there ... I haven't read an issue since # 1.

I think i dont need to see her do both DV8 and Gen13 so replace Gen13 with Doom patrol/Shazam and everything else is good.

Of course I'd like to see her back on Secret Six. It was one of my very favorite pre-52 books.

I'd actually like to see her off Batgirl. I think she's been strangely off her game here and it grates with me because I've wanted Babs back in the costume for so long and I'm typically a big fail of Gail's writing.

I loooooooove the idea of her on Teen Titans. And I'd love it if she'd select her own lineup. She would write an awesome Joker's Daughter.

Someone mentioned Green Arrow and Black Canary. That sounds like a really good fit to me too. And as with Teen Titans, it gets some of my favorite characters (GA/BC) and concepts (TT) out of the ghetto.

I think three books is probably enough. Make it so, DC.

Red Hood and the Outlaws: I love it atm, but Gail would make it either perfect or a dreadfully hilariously bad rehash of her old work.


OMAC: Why not?

Supergirl: It is terrible. Can't think of any reason why Gail in particular should do it, but she tends to have scenes that take up 3 issues do more than exposition and bad action.

Blue Beetle: Needs some dark humour. And genocide.

"Sex in the City" is probably the porn parody.

And Gail is on record as hating the series anyway.

I just read Suicide Squad #4. Awful. I have been a Suicide Squad fan since the first issue of Ostrander's series came out, but I can't support the Glass drek anymore. I like the new Harley, but Glass's half-baked, silly short stories that move at a child-like ADD pace bereft of descent characterization have shamed the legacy that came before him, and I am angry and done with the series I have loved until he is gone...

Birds of Prey just isn't right without Gail. She completely spoiled me on the modern version of Black Canary since she's the only person to really give her a consistent "voice".

I want to see her stay on Batgirl since I'm really enjoying it.

And leave WW alone. She's currently in more than capable hands.
