I did a search before starting this thread and didn't see this topic so...
Here is a place to post lyrics of songs that remind you of different X-people. I've been thinking this for awhile now because the song "Fallen" by Sarah McLachlan reminds me of Cyclops a lot. Please copy and paste any ideas of your own ;)
Fallen:
Heaven bent to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight
Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
The past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
The lonely light of morning
The wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I have held so dear.
I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
Heaven bent to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turned their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
You'll slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I have messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...

Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks for Storm and Forge's relationship....
I Was Me
Lyrics: Sioux
Music: The Creatures
I can't tell how it all
First began
Just a face at a window
Familiar
So I walked up to see if I was wrong
That's when I first asked if
I was me
Same lips same hair
The same stare
When she laughed she was sipping
My favorite drink
With a friend I have known since my birth
It's not fair I was me
Not she
Everywhere that I go
I see me
In a life I had
Not long ago
I'm not recognized or heard but I swear!
I was me I was me
I was me!
I walked through the dawn in a daze
Same lips same hair
The same stare
It's on the the tip of my tongue oh oh yeah!
I swear I was me
I was me!
I remember when
I was me
I can't tell how it all
First began
A face in a window
Familiar
"I Was Me" reminds me of Madelyne Pryor discover Jean Grey alive & her dissent into madness when she is transformed into the Goblin Queen in a dream in Uncanny X-Men #232-234 & Uncanny X-Men #239-243, "Inferno."
"I Was Me" was inspired by the original Twilight Zone episode where a woman--waiting for a bus--sees herself throughout the story; she wonders if she's going mad.

For some reason, the last couple of pages of AXM #6(the conversation between Kitty and Peter) had me thinking of this one by Alanis Morrisette;
"Everything"
I can be an asshole of the grandest kind
I can withhold like it’s going out of style
I can be the moodiest baby that you've ever seen
And you've never met anyone
who is as positive as I am sometimes
I am the wisest woman you've ever met.
I am the kindest soul with whom you've connected.
I can be the moodiest baby that you've ever seen
And you've never met anyone
Who's as positive as I am sometimes.
You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here
I blame everyone else, not my own partaking
My passive-aggressiveness can be devastating
I'm terrified and mistrusting
And you’ve never met anyone as,
As closed down as I am sometimes.
You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here
What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know
What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go
I'm the funniest woman you've ever known.
I am the dullest woman you've ever known.
I'm the most gorgeous woman you've ever known
And you've never met anyone as, as everything as I am sometimes.
You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here
And you’re still here
And you're still here...

I think he's talking about "Holding Out For A Hero," the Bonnie Tyler song from Footloose that Frou Frou covered for the Shrek 2 soundtrack. It's definitely a good one, though I much prefer the original... or, for that matter, Jennifer Saunders's rendition from the movie. Here's the lyrics:
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need...
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
Well he's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Superman to sweep me off my feet
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like a fire in my blood
Like a fire in my blood
Like a fire in my blood
Like a fire in my blood...
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

Kitty and Piotr's relationship throughout the years had me thinking of Kitty's favorite band, Cat's Laughing, and Emma Bull's "Signal to Noise"
Drinking coffee, have to stay awake and think of you
Aching awfully, knowing my perceptions aren't true
If you were what I've made you, not as your acts betrayed you
How could I keep away?
But things still lead me on, a word and then it's gone
What lives here and what's stray?
Tell me please, what's signal and what's noise?
Interference, or is that the broadcast that I've got?
Your appearance renders me incapable of thought
Here's your voice on the phone, your sweet and sullen tone
What am I to believe?
Did you blow me a kiss, or was that just tape hiss?
When I hang up, will you grieve?
Have pity, now, what's signal and what's noise?
Here's your photo, I found it cleaning out my bottom drawer
When you wrote, oh, I couldn't keep from wondering what for
Through the gray, through the grain, a picture taken in the rain
That doesn't show your face
Connected dots don't make a line, you confuse me every time
Confusion has its place
But just this once
What's signal and what's noise?
Hopefully Whedon will cut through the noise and doesn't string this along. But I imagine he will.

There's one sad love song that really works for any failed romance, but -- as much as I like Peter better -- often reminds me of Kitty singing about her breakup with Pete Wisdom. It's "Let Me In" by Save Ferris.
I've been watching you and all you do
For quite some time
Knowing all the ins and outs of you
I should've known what was on your mind
But all the world is spinning round and round
Inside my head tonight
I will fall into the darkness
And I fear I will never see the light
So let me in
All that I wanted from you
Was something you'd never do
So let me in
Oh please tonight
Don't let this end
Tonight
I'll Fall
Through no light the darkness seems to be
So very strong
How does one alone against the world
Find the strength to carry on?
What happened to the way we used to love
It seemed as though life had just begun
But now that love has come and gone to fade away
Like the setting sun
Cuz' you won't let me in.
All that I wanted from you
Was something you'd never do
So let me in
Oh please tonight
Don't let this end
Tonight
Cuz' I'm starting to fall
So let me in
It was all that I wanted from you
It was something you never knew
To let me in
But not tonight
For this is the end
Tonight
I fall

My Boo by Usher and Alica Keyes How Scott and Jean used to be
*featuring Alicia Keys
[Usher intro:]
There's always that one person
That will always have your heart
You'll never see it coming
Cause you're blinded from the start
Know that you're that one for me
It's clear for everyone to see
Ooh baby ooh you'll always be my boo
[Alicia intro:]
I don't know bout cha'll
But I know about us and uh
This is the only way
We know how to rock
I don't know bout cha'll
But I know about us and uh
This is the only way
We know how to rock
[Usher Verse:]
Do you remember girl
I was the one who gave you your first kiss
Cause I remember girl
I was the one who said put your lips like this
Even before all the fame and
People screaming your name
Girl I was there when you were my baby
[Chorus:]
[Usher:]
It started when we were young girl
You were mine my boo
Now another brother's taking over
But its still in your eyes my boo
Even though we used to argue it's alright
I know we haven't seen each other
In awhile but you will always be my boo
[Alicia:]
I was in love with you when we were younger
You were mine my boo
And I see it from time to time
I still feel like my boo
And I can see it no matter
How I try to hide my boo
Even though there's another man in my life
You will always be my boo
[Alicia Verse:]
Yes I remember boy
Cause after we kissed
I could only think about your lips
Yes I remember boy
The moment I knew you were the one
I could spend my life with
Even before all the fame
And people screaming your name
I was there and you were my baby
[Chorus:]
[Usher:]
It started when we were young girl
You were mine my boo
Now another brother's taking over
But its still in your eyes my boo
Even though we used to argue it's alright
I know we haven't seen each other
In awhile but you will always be my boo
[Alicia:]
I was in love with you when we were younger
You were mine my boo
And I see it from time to time
I still feel like my boo
And I can see it no matter
How I try to hide my boo
Even though there's another man in my life
You will always be my boo
[Usher:]
My oh, My oh, My oh, My oh, My Boo
[Alicia:]
My oh, My oh, My oh, My oh, My Boo
[Chorus:]
[Usher:]
It started when we were young girl
You were mine my boo
Now another brother's taking over
But its still in your eyes my boo
Even though we used to argue it's alright
I know we haven't seen each other
In awhile but you will always be my boo
[Alicia & Usher:]
I don't know bout cha'll
But I know about us and uh
This is the only way
We know how to rock
I don't know bout cha'll
But I know about us and uh
This is the only way
We know how to rock

Honey and the Moon by Joseph Arthur always reminded me of Jean and Scott's struggle with the Phoenix and their love story.
Don't know why I'm still afraid
If you weren't real I would make you up
now
I wish that I could follow through
I know that your love is true
and deep
as the sea
but right now
everything you want is wrong,
and right now
all your dreams are waking up,
and right now
I wish I could follow you
to the shores
of freedom,
where no one lives.
Remember when we first met
and everything was still a bet
in love's game
you would call; I'd call you back
and then I'd leave
a message
on your answering
machine
But right now
everything is turning blue,
and right now
the sun is trying to kill the moon,
and right now
I wish I could follow you
to the shores
of freedom,
where no one lives
Freedom
run away tonight
freedom, freedom
run away
run away tonight
We're made out of blood and rust
looking for someone to trust
without
a fight
I think that you came too soon
you're the honey and the moon
that lights
up my night
But right now
everything you want is wrong,
and right now
all your dreams are waking up,
and right now
I wish that I could follow you
to the shores
of freedom
where no one lives
freedom
run away tonight
freedom freedom
run away
run away tonight
we got too much time to kill
like pigeons on my windowsill
we hang around
ever since I've been with you
you hold me up
all the time I'm falling down
But right now
everything is turning blue,
and right now
the sun is trying to kill the moon,
and right now
i wish i could follow you
to the shores
of freedom
where no one lives
freedom
run away tonight
freedom freedom
run away
run away tonight

Karma Alicia Keyes, How Scott is going to feel once Jean is in Wolvreine's arms.
"Karma" Kerry Brothers Jr., A. Keys, T. Smith
Weren't you the one that said
That you don't want me anymore
And how you need your space
And give the keys back to your door
And how I cried and tried and tried
To make you stay with me
But still you said that love was gone
And that I had to leave
Now you, talkin' bout a family
Now you, sayin' I complete your dream
Now you, sayin' I'm your everything
You confusin' me
What you say to me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me
Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back
I remember when
I was sittin' home alone
Waitin' for you
Til' 3 o'clock in the morn
And when you came home, you'd always have some sorry excuse.
And explainin' to me, like I'm just some kinda fool
I sacrifice the things I want to and do things for you
But when it's time to do for me, you never come through
Now you, wanna be a bond of me (eyyy)
Now you, have so much to say to me (heyy)
Now you, wanna make time for me
What you do to me
You confusin me
Don't play with me
Don't play with me
Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back
I remember when
I was sittin home alone
Waitin for you
Til 3 o'clock in the morn
Night after night
Knowin sumthing goin on
Wasn't home befo me
You was, you was gone
Lord knows it wasn't easy, but believe me
Never thought you'd be the one that would deceived me
And never do wha u was supposed to do
No need to hose me fool, cause I'm ova you
Cause what goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back to me
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down
Now who's cryin', desirin' to come back
It's called Karma baby
And it goes around.
What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must comes down
Now who's cryin, desirin to come back to me

:D These are all really good!! I've got another one Scott's feelings on Jean being Phoenix...she dies too much... "This Love" by Maroon 5
I was so high I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye and she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied
Kept playing love like it was just a game
Pretending to feel the same
Then turn around and leave again
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
I'll fix these broken things
Repair your broken wings
And make sure everything's alright
My pressure on your hips
Sinking my fingertips
Into every inch of you
Cause I know that's what you want me to do
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And my heart is breaking in front of me
She said Goodbye too many times before
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore...

I Think I'm A Clone Now, by Weird Al Yankovic, always makes me think of Sinister and his various Marauder flunkies. Possibly Madeline and Jean too, if you change the lyrics slightly. :)
Isn't it strange
Feels like I'm lookin' in the mirror
What would people say
If only they knew that I was
Part of some geneticist's plan (plan-plan-plan)
Born to be a carbon copy man (man-man-man)
There in a petri dish late one night
They took a donor's body cell and fertilized a human egg and so I say
I think I'm a clone now
There's always two of me just a-hangin' around
I think I'm a clone now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
Look at the way
We go out walking close together
I guess you could say
I'm really beside myself
I still remember how it began (gan-gan-gan)
They produced a carbon copy man (man-man-man)
Born in a science lab late one night
Without a mother or a father, just a test tube and a womb with a view
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
There's always two of me just a-hangin' around
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
And I can stay at home while I'm out of town
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
'Cause every pair of genes is a hand-me-down
Signing autographs for my fans
Come and meet the carbon copy man
Livin' in stereo, it's all right
Well I can be my own best friend and I can send myself for pizza so I say
I think I'm a clone now
Another one of me's always hangin' around
I think I'm a clone now
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
I've been on Oprah Winfrey - I'm world renowned
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
And every pair of genes is a hand-me-down
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
That's my genetic twin always hangin' around
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)
'Cause every chromosome is a hand-me-down
I think I'm a clone now (a clone now)

As long as we're doing this, let's do this right. A few years ago, our much-missed friend Lee in Limbo created the definitive X-Men song list, which I saved and later compiled onto 3 CDs. Take it away, Lee:
"Hmmn, I'd pipe in at this point, but my buddy Drew has it down cold. I'm not sure OMD deserves to sit with the Cure and the Smiths, though they weren't awful by any means. Instead, I think I'll take a stab at characters and their eighties theme songs.

Lee- you have great taste in music!
And now, i'll offer my pick, (even though i've mentioned it many times before and you're probably all sick of hearing it...)
I see this as Jean's love song to Scott, dealing with their psychic rapport.
(I'm Always Touched) By Your Presence Dear
by Blondie
Was it destiny
I don't know yet
Was it just by chance? Could this be Kismet?
Something in my consciousness told me you'd appear
Now I'm always touched by your presence dear
When we play at cards you use an extra sense (it's really not cheating)
You can read my hand, I've got no defence
When you sent your messages whispered loud and clear
I am always touched by your presence dear
Floating past the evidence of possibilities
We could navigate together, psychic frequencies
Coming into contact with outer entities (The Phoenix? Shi'ar?)
We could entertain each one with our theosophies
Stay awake at night and count your R.E.M.'s
when you're talking with your super friends (X-Men?)
Levitating lovers in the secret stratosphere (astral plane?)
I am still in touch with your presence dear
I am still in touch with your presence dear
I am still in touch with your presence dear, dear, dear, dear, dear

Caught up by Usher, How Scott was feelin when Emma got it in her mind she wants him.
I'm the kind of brotha
Who been doin' it my way
Gettin' my bread for years
In my career
And every lover
In and out my life
I hear love and left the tears
Without a care
Until I met this girl who turned the tables around
She caught me by surprise
I never thought I'd be the one breaking down
I cant figure it out why
I'm so
Caught up
Got me feelin' it
Caught up
I don't know what it is
But it seems shes got me twisted
I'm so
Caught up
Got me feelin' it
Caught up
I'm losin' control
This girls got a hold on me
Let me go baby
Now listen
My momma told me
Be careful who you do cuz karma comes back around
Same ol' song
But I was so sure
That it wouldnt happen to me
Cuz I know how to put it down
But I was so wrong
This girl was mean
She really turned me out
Her body was so tight
I'm lookin' for her in the daytime with a flashlight
My homies say this girl is crampin' my style
And I can't figure it out but
I'm so
Caught up
Got me feelin' it
Caught up
I don't know what it is
But it seems shes got me twisted
I'm so
Caught up
Got me feelin' it
Caught up
I'm losin' control
This girls got a hold
I'm so
Caught up
Really feelin' it
Caught up
I don't know what it is
But it seems shes got me twisted
I'm so
Caught up
Really feelin' it
Caught up
I'm losin' control
This girls got a hold on me
And I think I like it baby
Oh nooo, oh no
Ooh, yeaah, oh my
This girl was mean
She really turned me out
Yeah, yeah, yeah, suga
My homies say this girl is crampin' my style
I'm so
Caught up
Caught up
Don't know what it is
But it seems shes got me twisted
I'm so
Caught up
Really feelin' it
Caught up
I'm losin' control
This girls got a hold
I'm so
Caught up
Im so
Caught up
I don't know what it is
But it seems shes got me twisted
I'm
Caught up
Really feelin' it
Caught up
I'm losin' control
This girls got a hold on me

Garbage - Stupid Girl
You pretend you’re high
You pretend you’re bored
You pretend you’re anything
Just to be adored
And what you need
Is what you get
Don’t believe in fear
Don’t believe in faith
Don’t believe in anything
That you can’t break
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
All you had you wasted
All you had you wasted
What drives you on what drives you on
Can drive you mad can drive you mad
A million lies to sell yourself
Is all you ever had
Don’t believe in love
Don’t believe in hate
Don’t believe in anything
That you can’t waste
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can’t believe you fake it
Can’t believe you fake it
Don’t believe in fear
Don’t believe in pain
Don’t believe in anyone
That you can’t tame
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
All you had you wasted
All you had you wasted
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can’t believe you fake it
Can’t believe you fake it
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can’t believe you fake it
Can’t believe you fake it
You stupid girl

And just for some general heroic X-ness:
Stan Bush - Dare
Sometimes when your hopes have all been shattered
And there's nowhere to turn
You wonder how you keep going
Think of all the things that really mattered
And the chances you've earned
The fire in your heart is growing
You can fly, if you try leaving the past behind
Heaven only knows what you might find
Dare - dare to believe you can survive
You hold the future in your hand
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
It's time to take a stand
And you can win, if you dare
Everybody's trying to break your spirit
Keeping you down
Seems like it's been forever
But there's another voice if you'll just hear it
Saying it's the last round
Looks like it's now or never
Out of the darkness you stumble into the light
Fighting for the things you know are right
Dare - dare to believe you can survive
The power is there at your command
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
It's time to take a stand
And you can win, if you dare
Dare - dare to believe you can survive
You hold the future in your hand
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
The power is there at your command
Dare - dare to keep all your love alive
Dare to be all you can be
Dare - 'cause there is a place where dreams survive
And it's calling you on to victory

Stan Bush - Dare
Great choice, Rachel! Love that song! :D And sticking with that theme, an ode to the resurrected Colossus, also from Stan Bush: The Touch.
You got the touch
You got the power
After all is said and done
You've never walked, you've never run,
You're a winner
You got the moves, you know the streets
Break the rules, take the heat
You're nobody's fool
You're at your best when when the goin' gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough
You got the touch
You got the power
When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm
You got the heart
You got the motion
You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch
You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter
It's in the blood, it's in the will
It's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground
And you never get hit when your back's to the wall
Gonna fight to the end and you're takin' it all
You got the touch
You got the power
When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm
You got the heart
You got the motion
You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch
You're fightin' fire with fire
You know you got the touch
You're at your best when when the road gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough
You got the touch
You got the power
You got the touch
You got the power

Innuendo
by Queen
While the sun hangs in the sky and the desert has sand
While the waves crash in the sea and meet the land
While there’s a wind and the stars and the rainbow
Till the mountains crumble into the plain
Oh yes we’ll keep on tryin’
Tread that fine line
Oh we’ll keep on tryin’ yeah
Just passing our time
While we live according to race, colour or creed
While we rule by blind madness and pure greed
Our lives dictated by tradition, superstition, false religion
Through the eons, and on and on
Oh yes we’ll keep on tryin’
We’ll tread that fine line
Oh we’ll keep on tryin’
Till the end of time
Till the end of time
Through the sorrow all through our splendour
Don’t take offence at my innuendo
You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be
Be free with your tempo, be free be free
Surrender your ego - be free, be free to yourself
Oooh, ooh -
If there’s a God or any kind of justice under the sky
If there’s a point, if there’s a reason to live or die
If there’s an answer to the questions we feel bound to ask
Show yourself - destroy our fears - release your mask
Oh yes we’ll keep on trying
Hey tread that fine line
Yeah we’ll keep on smiling
And whatever will be - will be
We’ll just keep on trying
We’ll just keep on trying
Till the end of time
Till the end of time
Till the end of time...

This song has a more religious tone to it, but also works as a "against the world song", and it souds great together with some action scenes - it fits perfectly stories like Riot at Xavier's - and even mutants (the "when we were good" part)
Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song
Nothing suffocates you more than
the passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
your children breath into survive
But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to world
that doesn't give a shit
And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we're going to scar your minds
fight, fight, fight, fight
You'll never grow up to be a big-
rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame
They'll just cut our wrists like
cheap coupons and say that death
was on sale today
And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we're scar your minds
But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to world
that doesn't give a shit
the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
but death of a million is just a statistic

Yeah -- I just remembered that there's no way in hell you can decipher what I'm saying, due to the general badness of my voice.
It happened many years ago, a plane crashed down, and in the burning fires a life met its end.
As the cinders flew and the fire died, the ashes fell to earth, and in the black, a soul was born.
In the dark, a bird of fire. Beautiful. Deadly. Undying.
She had no human experience. No self to call her own. Just borrowed life and stolen memories.
Doomed from birth, a manifested destiny. Tattered. Soiled. Bearing death.
In the dark, a bird of fire. Beautiful. Deadly. Undying.
The woman and the entity, tangled like strands of night and fire.
'Twas a sinsiter man who birthed her, a brood-mare and a replicant.
Rejected love and motherhood tore her world apart, and in the end no one could save her from herself.
In the dark, a bird of fire. Beautiful. Deadly. Undying.
In the dark, burns the funeral pye as we learn that all life must come to an end.

This is completely from memory, so I'm sure there's stuff I've left out.

If you're looking for songs about the X-men and mutants in general I can't believe that no-one has yet mentioned "Oh! You Pretty Things" by David Bowie. Who can you imagine singing this one?:
--
Wake up you sleepy head
Put on some clothes, shake up your bed
Put another log on the fire for me
I’ve made some breakfast and coffee
Look out my window what do I see
A crack in the sky and a hand reaching down to me
All the nightmares came today
And it looks as though they’re here to stay
What are we coming to
No room for me, no fun for you
I think about a world to come
Where the books were found by the golden ones
Written in pain, written in awe
By a puzzled man who questioned
What we were here for
All the strangers came today
And it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh you pretty things
Don’t you know you’re driving your
Mamas and papas insane
Oh you pretty things
Don’t you know you’re driving your
Mamas and papas insane
Let me make it plain
You gotta make way for the homo superior
Look at your children
See their faces in golden rays
Don’t kid yourself they belong to you
They’re the start of a coming race
The earth is a bitch
We’ve finished our news
Homo sapiens have outgrown their use
All the strangers came today
And it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh you pretty things
Don’t you know you’re driving your
Mamas and papas insane
Oh you pretty things
Don’t you know you’re driving your
Mamas and papas insane
Let me make it plain
You gotta make way for the homo superior

Rascal King by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones always reminds me of Wolverine.
Well he was fueled by a lack
Drew inspiration from a need
So many problems to crack
And mouths to feed
Crooked was the path
And brazen was the walk
A cocky swagger, up the ladder
And could he ever talk
The last hurrah?
Nah! Id do it again
The rascal king behind the bars
Or the one in front of them
The love of god
And constant contradictions
With just a smile, wink or nod
Whats stranger fact or fiction?
And never ceasing to amaze
On a regular basis
First hand into his pocket
Or first fist into the faces
The last hurrah?
Nah! Id do it again
The rascal king behind the bars
Or the one in front of them
A legendary character
When?
Only then
Where?
Only there
A hero or a hooligan?
Well, that parts never clear
Pride or shame, its all the same
Whos innocent or whos to blame?
Politics or just a game?
Well in the end they knew his name
The last hurrah? nah! Id do it again
The rascal king behind the bars
Or the one in front of them

Did any of you know that there was an entire album dedicated to Wolverine?
It's called "Wolverine Blues" by Entombed.
Entombed used to be one of the nicest of the Swedish Death Metal scene until that album. It was probably the worst I've ever heard them, but incidently, was the first death metal album I'd ever heard. I bought it because it was 1996, I was a fanboy, and it had Wolverine on the cover. Those were happy times.

I've been struggling with the idea of a fanfic based on Kitty listening to her favorite band ever since I got the two Cats Laughing discs, and the first song of the first album seems to capture how Kitty would probably view Scott Summers at this point in time... the lyrics will be spotty, since I can't seem to find them online and the disc came in a paper sleeve...
The Enchantment by Cats Laughing
I thought you'd come from a fairy tale
Where the people all are fair
But you're under a wicked enchantment
And you cannot see what's there.
Witches put a sheep's head on you
Just below the skin
And you think that your heart is a horrible place
So you never let anyone in
(Refrain)
Beauty bears the Beast inside
Broken hopes in silence hide
Victim of the ones who lied
You're under the Enchantment.
You know about incantations
You know how to break the spell
You're looking out for a cut-rate prince
Or a pauper would do as well.
You've given your love to things in disguise
And none of them ever transform
You say it was your fault every time
And you never think that's wrong.
(Refrain)
If I had a magic mirror
A mirror that never lies
I'd hold it up to your heart and your head
And your hands and your face and your eyes.
But the spell you're under would cloud the glass
And you'd swear it wasn't you
And you'd turn off the lights and pull the shades
To make all the lies true.
(Refrain)
Emma has already mentioned how Kitty thinks she's controlling everything Scott says, and given his experience with psychics, you would think that Scott would be able to "break the spell", but doesn't seem to want to

Since I don't see it anywhere yet, I'll make a mention of this one.
For the crazy inter-relationship dramas that play themselves out with the X-Men, "Untouchable Face" by Ani Difranco. It is simply one of the best songs ever written about unrequited love, so much so that you could apply it to just about anyone in the comics. It eerily channels a Logan POV, even though it's sung by a woman.
Think I'll go for a walk now
I feel a little unsteady
Don't want no one to follow me
Except maybe you
I could make you happy, y'know
If you weren't already
and I can do a lotta things
and I do.
To tell you the truth, I prefer the worst of you
Too bad you had to have a better half
(s)he's not really my type,
But I think you two are forever
I hate to say it, but you're perfect together...
So f*** you,
and your untouchable face
and f*** you
for existing in the first place
and who am I
that I should be vying for your touch?
Who am I?
I bet even you can't tell me that much.
Two thirty in the morning and my
Gas tank'll be empty soon
Neon sign on the horizon
is rubbing elbows with the moon
Safe haven of sleepless with
Deep frier's always on
and the radio is counting down
the top twenty country songs.
Out on the porch a fly strip is waving like a flag in the wind.
Y'know I don't look forward to seeing you again.
You look like a photograph of yourself,
taken from far far away,
and I won't know what to do, and I won't know what to say except...
f*** you,
and your untouchable face
and f*** you
for existing in the first place
and who am I
that I should be vying for your touch?
Who am I?
I bet even you can't tell me that much.
I see you and I'm so perplexed,
What was I thinking?
And oh, what will I think of next?
Where can I hide?
In the backroom there's a lamp that hangs over the pool table,
And when the fan is on it swings gently side to side,
And there's a changing constellation
Of the balls as we are playing.
I see Orion and say nothing,
The only thing I can think of saying is...
f*** you,
and your untouchable face
and f*** you
for existing in the first place
and who am I
that I should be vying for your touch?
Who am I?
I bet even you can't tell me that much.
Who am I?
Somebody just tell me that much.

I am not sure of the lyrics but I know of two songs that actually use a name of an X-man. The Bloodhound Gang have a song with a line that goes something like "your hairier than Wolverine" On the Judgement Night soundtrack there is a track by Del the funky Homosapien ( not sure about the Del but it sounds right) and he drops Kitty Pryde's name.

I don't know how many of you remember the main character from the short-lived Brotherhood series that was part of the X-Men re-vamp of 2001 (of which the first three issues were actually pretty good, I thought; I don't know what went wrong after that, though); his name was Michael Asher.
http://homepage.mac.com/isaacllawrence/.Pictures/michaelasher.jpg
*I also found a pretty decent write-up on him... (http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/masherbh.htm)
Anyway, his main hang-up was that he hated his life and whatever -- your typical teen angst/metaphor for mutant thing. So the song that I always thought would be cool for him was Linkin Park's 'Crawling'.
I picked this one because, one: obviously the lyrics work. And two: those of you who read the third issue, if you can imagine the first three issues being condensed into a video -- or trailer (like what Marvel did for Cable (http://www.marvel.com/comics/trailers/cable.swf)), then when the first verse of the chorus hits; the "Crawling in my skin" part... Put all of that together; and take the panel from near the end of third issue where Mike first uses his powers, and add the "Crawling in my skin" part to that... and it's perfect.
(Heh. I really should put one of these together. Because most of you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.)
(And of course I've been thinking about doing it for like three years now. But then I gotta go and buy the issues again, and scan 'em in and f*ck with 'em and everything, and... meh.]) :D
Anyway, here's the lyrics to Linkin Park's 'Crawling' (and video (http://www.mtv.com/music/video/index.jhtml?_lpvid=17543)):
*And this panel from issue #3 actually reminds me of the Linkin Park 'Crawling' video.

Crawling in my skin,
These wounds they will not heal,
Fear is how I fall,
Confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface,
Consuming, confusing,
This lack of self control I fear is never ending,
Controlling
I can't seem
To find myself again,
My walls are closing in,
(Without a sense of confidence,
I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before,
So insecure
Crawling in my skin,
These wounds they will not real,
Fear is how I fall,
Confusing what is real,
Discomfort endlessly has pulled itself upon me,
Distracting, reacting,
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection,
It's haunting,
How I can't seem,
To find myself again,
My walls are closing in,
(Without a sense of confidence,
I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before,
So insecure...
Crawling in my skin,
These wounds they will not heal,
Fear is how I fall,
Confusing what is real...(2x)
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface,
Consuming, confusing what is real...
This lack of self control I fear is never ending,
Controlling, confusing what is real...
You know, I wonder when Marvel -- or probably more accurately: if Marvel will ever do anything like this or NYX again. (And yeah, even though Brotherhood did kind of tank, NYX actually did okay; it's just that Quesada doesn't want to/or can't write it anymore -- as in doesn't have the time. Of course too, I guess, he may have just simply told whatever story he wanted to tell and that was that. Heh. I guess it's one or the other... )

It's quite surprising, but When the Eagle Cries by Iced Earth reminds me quite a alot of the first arc in Astonishing X-Men:
Another day just like any other
Out of the blue it turned to horror
How could they?
Why would they?
The innocent suffered hell’s inferno
A senseless act that goes unforgotten
How could they?
They will pay
Chorus
When the eagle cries
Blood will flow
When the eagle cries
For freedom’s fight
When the eagle cries
We love her so
When the eagle cries
We will sacrifice
Out of the ashes came a tempting vengeance
But we are focused, we seek redemption
We are free
We’ll stay free
All they’ve done is make us stronger
The sleeping giant is asleep no longer
If need be
We’ll die free
Chorus
When the eagle cries
Blood will flow
When the eagle cries
For freedom’s fight
When the eagle cries
We love her so
When the eagle cries
We will sacrifice
Kind of funny, this song was made after and is about the attacks of 9/11. Though I think it is quite fitting for that entire arc. The first part kind of like when Kitty arrives and everything up to when they arrive at the base. Then the second part when Colossus is revealed to be alive.

"I've got Kitty Pryde
And Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do"
Colossus joining Magneto: (From Eulogy by Tool)
"Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me."
Rogue and Gambit: (From H by Tool)
"I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,
And considerately killing me."

how about Iris by the goo goo dolls, for Rogue and Gambit.
And I’d give up forever to touch you
’cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that i’ll
Ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
’cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight
And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t
Coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive
And I don’t want the world to see me
’cause I don’t think that they’d
Understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don’t want the world to see me

Oh I've got another one. Love Song by The Cure or 311, whichever you prefer, anyway I think relates to Scott and Jean. Because I don't think they'll ever be able to give each other up completely :D
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away, I will always love you
However long I stay, I will always love you
Whatever words I say, I will always love you
I will always love you

*bump*
And also, I thought of this earlier while listening to Helena by My Chemical Romance, that this song makes me think of Scott to Jean- particuarly after the end of Endsong 5:
Long ago
Just like the hearse you died to get in again
We are so far from you
Burning on just like a match you strike to incinerate
The lives of everyone you knew
And what's the worst to take, from every heart you break (heart you break)
And like a blade you stain
Well I've been holding on tonight
What's the worst that I could say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight
Came a time
When every star fall brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold
And what's the worst you take, from every heart you break
And like a blade you stain
Well I've been holding on tonight
What's the worst that I could say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight
Well if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight
Can you hear me?
Are you near me?
can we pretend,
to leave and then,
we'll meet again,
When both our cars collide?
What's the worst that I could say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight
Well if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight

A little something for those of us who've lived through the Days of Future Past or the Age of Apocalypse.
Feed My Head by Dio
Hiding in a corner
Waiting for the storm
Maybe they'll forget about me
Avoid connection
Still they say you always surrender
All the smiling faces
Promising the sun
Another way of breaking you down
All is lost
Hope is dead
Feed my mind
Fill my head
Hope is gone
The spell's been said
Fill my mind
Feed my head
Ah, Waiting for my number
To climb upon the cross
Maybe they'll forget about me
Must avoid detection
But they say you'll still go down
Safe in dreams
Away from where they are
Let me be nowhere
Just another star
Safe in night
The shadows cloak their eyes
Take me to nowhere
Where everybody flies
Oh!
All is lost
Hope is dead
Feed my mind
Fill my head
Hope is gone
The spell's been said
Fill my mind
Feed my head
All is lost
Hope is dead
Feed my mind
Fill my head
Hope is gone
The spell's been said
Fill my mind
Feed my head
All is lost
Hope is dead
Feed my mind
Fill my head
Hope is gone
The spell's been said
Fill my mind
Feed my head
All is lost
Hope is dead
Feed my mind
Fill my head

I think "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette sums up how Jean REALLY feels about Scott & Emma. Y'all know damn well that no woman pushes her husband into the arms of another woman with THAT much understanding and support.
I want you to know that I'm happy for you
I wish nothing but the best for you both
An older version of me?
Is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theater?
Does she speak elequently?
And would she have your baby?
I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother
'Cause the love that you gave that we made
Wasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide, no...
And everytime you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me until you died?
'Til you died, well you're still alive
And I'm here to remind you of the mess you left
When you went away
It's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
You seem very well, things look peaceful
I'm not quite as well, I thought you should know
Did you forget about me, Mr. Duplicity?
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
And now you're thinking of me when you f*** her
'Cause the love that you gave that we made
Wasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide, no...
And everytime you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me until you died?
'Til you died, well you're still alive
And I'm here to remind you of the mess you left
When you went away
It's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
'Cause the joke that you laid on the bed that was me
And I'm not gonna fade as soon as you close your eyes
And everytime I scratch my nails down someone else's back
I hope you feel it, well can you feel it?
Well I'm here to remind you of the mess you left
When you went away
It's not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you, ought to know

A lil' song from the 80s that always reminds me of the xmen.
X-Men, X-Men
saves the day, saves the day.
X-Men X-Men, coming your way!
Magneto's hoardes are on their way
to pillage, burn and plunder.
But there's one team that will not yield,
the team that strikes like thunder!
X-Men,X-Men
saves the day, saves the day
X-Men, X-Men
Coming your way!!!

Now my real answer
Chris Cornell's Can't Change Me
It reminds me of all the different chicks in Wolvie's life and the last lines remind me of Mariko and what her death did to his whole person.
She can do anything at all
'bout anything she pleases
Power to change what she thinks is wrong
But what could she want with me, yeah
Wait just one minute here
I can see that she's trying to read me
(And suddenly I know)
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
But she can't change me
No, she can't change me
She has the daylight at her command
She gives the night it's dreams, yeah
She can uncover your darkest fear
And make you forget you feel it
And wait just one minute more
I can see that she's trying to free me
(And suddenly I know)
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
But she can't change me
No, she can't change me
And suddenly I can see everything that's wrong
With me, yeah
But what can I do
I'm the only thing I really have
At all
But wait just one minute here
I can see that she's trying to need me
(And suddenly I know)
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
She's going to change the world
But she can't change me
No, she can't
Change

Hey, I should be finishing up a paper (or sleeping ^^;; ) but I don't want to pass this up, 'cause seems like a fun enough topic. Now I'm gonna offer up 3 songs that I think pretty much sum up the Remy/Rogue relationship. I guess I'm a fan, sort of, but the whole cycle of breaking up and getting back together bit has made me a bit cynical.
Song number one: Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" Just like their relationship, it could be good at times, but gets annoying when it's overplayed.
I keep on fallin’
In love
With you
Sometimes I love you
Sometimes you make me blue
Sometimes I feel good
And times I feel used
Lovin' you darlin’
Makes me so confused
I keep on
Fallin’
In and out of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I love you
Oh, oh , I never felt this way
How do you give me so much pleasure
And cause me so much pain
Just when I think
I've taken more than would a fool
I start fallin’ back in love with you
I keep on
Fallin’
In and out of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I love you
Oh baby
I,I,I, I’m fallin’
I,I,I, I’m fallin’
Fall
I keep on
Fallin’
In and out of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I love you
Im fallin’
In and out of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I loved you
I'm fallin’
In and out of love with you
I never loved someone
The way that I loved you
And then Sheryl Crow's "Strong Enough", 'cause it's so easy to picture Rogue just singing this and strumming along on her guitar.
God, I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I'd be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Nothing's true and nothing's right
So let me be alone tonight
You can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me
I promise, I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave
I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
It's try and love me if you can
Are you man enough to be my man?
When I've shown you that I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and cannot stand
Will you be strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me
I promise, I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave
And for all of you who think that the relationship is ruining the characters, here's Muse's "Time is Running Out."
I think I'm drowning
Asphyxiated
I want to break the spell
That you've created
You're something beautiful
A contradiction
I wanna play the game
I want the friction
You
Will be the death of me
Yeah, you
Will be the death of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
But our time is running out
But our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
I wanted freedom
Bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
But I'm addicted
Now that you know I'm trapped
Sense of elation
You'd never dream of
Breaking this fixation
You
Will squeeze the life out of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
But our time is running out
But our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah no no nooo
Yeah, you
Will suck the life out of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
But our time is running out
But our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh ooh ooh yeah yeah no no nooo
And now I have 2 and a half hours to finish my essay. No sleep for me tonight. *sighs*

The song "Dominique" by GusGus always reminds me of Mystique. Not gonna spew the whole thing, but the lines
I've been wired/I've been tired/Of being someone that I'm not
and
Been the wrongest girl in the world
are especially creepy since the ditty's sung by a GUY with a great androgynous voice. Love that tune!

"Twilight" by Electric Light Orchestra reminds me so much of Phoenix/Jean. To me it fits Phoenix: Endsong perfectly.
The visions dancing in my mind
The early dawn, the shades of time
Twilight crawling through my windowpane
Am I awake or do I dream?
The strangest pictures I have seen
Night is day and twilight’s gone away
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
It’s either real or it’s a dream
There’s nothing that is in between...
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me.
Across the night I saw your face
You disappeared without a trace
You brought me here, but can you take me back?
Inside the image of your light
That now is day and once was night
You lead me here and then you go away.
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me.
(you brought me here, but can you take me back again? )
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me.
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, twilight, twilight, twilight.

To me, one that really reminds me of Rogue, especially after Uncanny 348 is Mariah Carey's (For some reason she makes me think of Rogue) My All. With the night they had together with no powers, then her absorbing Gambit in 350, and then her returning home after leaving him in Antartica when she still had his self-hatred and guilt in her psyche...
I am thinking of you
In my sleepless solitude tonight
If it's wrong to love you
Then my heart just won't let me right
Cause I've drowned in you
And I won't pull through
Without you by my side
I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
Your body next to mine
Cause I can't let go on
Living in the memory of your song
I'd give my all for your love tonight
Baby can you feel me
Imagining I'm looking in your eyes
I can see you clearly
Vividly emblazoned in my mind
And yet you're so far
Like a distant star
I'm wishing on tonight
I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
your body next to mine
Cause I can't let go on
Liing in the memory of your song
I'd give my all for your love tonight
I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life to feel
Your body next to mine
Cause I can't let go on
living in the memory of your song
I'd give my all for your love tonight
Give my all for your love

There's a song by Spirit of the West off Open Heart Symphony that always reminds me of Jean after she's died... the POV is someone who didn't know the deceased, but feels he gets a sense of who she was...
"Resurrection"
At her funeral I never felt the grave
Never kissed the dead, had a laugh instead
Made a funny girl count nine best friends
Look how they adore her standing here before her
With words in their pockets, hearts on their sleeves
They sang her praise, I felt a breeze
And her photograph hung upon the wall
Of the little Jewish Hall
And beautiful was her comet
and beautiful was her comet
At her funeral someone rolled the stone
Pushed it through the night
Eyes adjusting to her light
Dressed in black only if we wanted
Picasso rose, and brighter, I think I would have liked her
With tears in my pockets, tears up my sleeve
I ran back home to give them wings
And they flew above what's inside
This world, it looks smaller from the sky
And beautiful was her comet
and beautiful was her comet

Am I the only person who thinks of Colossus when this song plays?
"When a man's an empty kettle,
One should be on his mettle,
And yet I'm torn apart,
Just because I'm assumin'
That I could be kind of human
If I only had a heart.
I'd be kind and I'd be gentle
And awful sentimental
Regarding love and art,
I'd be friends with the sparrows
And the boy who shoots the arrows
If I only had a heart.
Picture me, a balcony
A voice calls out sweet and low;
"Wherefore art thou, Romeo?"
I'd hear a beat...
How sweet!
Just to register emotion,
Jealousy, devotion
And really feel the part.
I'd be young, I'd be chipper
And I'd lock it with a zipper
If I only had a heart!"

I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell I wait and bleed
I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell I wait and bleed
GOODBYE!
I wipe it off on tile, the light is brighter this time
Everything is 3D blasphemy
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up
This is not the way I pictured me
I CAN'T CONTROL MY SHAKES!
How the hell did I get here?
Something about this, so very wrong
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this
Is it a dream or a memory?
I've felt the hate rise up in meKneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed
GET OUTTA MY HEAD CUZ I DON'T NEED THIS!
Why didn't I see this?

Professor X and Juggernaut: Gunshot to the head of trepidation- Trivium
You starve your children on neglect
Then feed their bellies with fear
Concussion bat to the brain
Witness to a battered mother
Your abuse will end right here
No longer will your family fear
A gunshot to head of trepidation
My promise if you ever lay a finger
Just look at the scars you make
Your terror makes your kids break
A broken home just as you were raised
With fist raised up to your children
This battle is on all
You've made beautiful
Now hateful
You wretched life wrecker
Abuser
Now suffer
Open fire
On the desire of the man
Open fire
With strife we'll strike down the hand
(Open fire, build the pyre)
If I can't make you see the damage you've made
(Open fire, build the pyre)
I'll make you wish you'd never been alive

MAGNETO and TITANIUM MAN by Paul Mcartney and Wings
Print
Well I Was Talking Last Night
Magneto And Titanium Man . . .
We Were Talking About You, Babe,
Oo --- They Said ---
You Were Involved In A Robbery
That Was Due To Happen
At A Quarter To Three
In The Main Street.
I Didn't Believe Them
Magneto And Titanium Man . . .
But When The Crimson Dynamo
Finally Assured Me, Well, I Knew
You Were Involved In A Robbery
That Was Due To Happen
At A Quarter To Three
In The Main Street.
So We Went Out
Magneto And Titanium Man . . .
And The Crimson Dynamo
Came Along For The Ride
We Went To Town With The Library
And We Swung All Over That
Long Tall Bank In The Main Street
Well There She Were And To My Despair
She's A Five-Star Criminal
Breaking The Code
Magneto Said "Now The Time Come
To Gather Our Forces And Run!!!"
Oh No . . . . . .
This Can't Be So . . . . . .
And Then It Occurred To Me!
You Couldn't Be Bad
Magneto Was Mad!
Titanium Too!
And The Crimson Dynamo
Just Couldn't Cut It No More
You Were The Law . . . . . .

Must be coming down with something, because I'm feeling almost benevolent toward Colossusus--sus-us. Oh, well. Was just thinking that "Rhapsody," a grand, cinematic tune by Siouxsie and the Banshees, is lyrically Colossus-sus-esque. Don't feel like typing, so y'all can Google the words. And pick up the album. Ancient-bonus-plus-gothic keen.

I've been meaning to add more lyrics, but I've been lazy. Boo.
I enjoyed Pete Wisdom a lot in Excalibur, and "Grey" by Ani Difranco is the ultimate Pete Wisdom song. Don't believe me? Read for yourself...
the sky is grey
the sand is grey
and the ocean is grey
and i feel right at home
in this stunning monochrome
alone in my way
i smoke and i drink
and every time that i blink
i have a tiny dream
but as bad as i am
i'm proud of the fact
that i'm worse than i seem
what kind of paradise am i looking for?
i've got everything i want, and still i want more
maybe some tiny shiny key will wash up on the shore
you walk through my walls
like a ghost on tv
you penetrate me
and my little pink heart
is on its little brown raft
floating out to sea
and what can i say
but i'm wired this way
and you're wired to me
and what can i do
but wallow in you
unintentionally
what kind of paradise am i looking for?
i have everything i want, but still i want more
maybe some tiny shiny key will wash up on the shore
regretfully
i guess i've only got three
simple things to say
why me?
why this now?
why this way?
with overtones ringing
and undertows
pulling away
under a sky that is grey
on sand that is grey
by an ocean that's grey....

I heard this song, first thing I thought of was those Purity/Friends of Humanity/The Right anti-mutant types.
Pearl Jam
Do The Evolution...
Woo..
I’m ahead, I’m a man
I’m the first mammal to wear pants, yeah!
I’m at peace with my lust
I can kill ’cause in God I trust, yeah!
It’s evolution, baby!
I’m at piece, I’m the man
Buying stocks on the day of the crash!
On the loose, I’m a truck
All the rolling hills, I’ll flatten’ em out, yeah!
It’s herd behavior, uh huh
It’s evolution, baby!
Admire me, admire my home
Admire my song, here’s my coat
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I’ll do what I want but irresponsibly
It’s evolution, baby
I’m a thief, I’m a liar
There’s my church, I sing in the choir:
(hallelujah-- hallelujah)
Admire me, admire my home
Admire my song, admire my clothes!
’cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant indians got nothin’ on me!
Nothin’, why?
Because, it’s evolution, baby!
I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah!
I crawled the earth, but now I’m higher!
Twenty-ten, watch it go to fire!
It’s evolution, baby
It's evolution, baby!
Do the evolution
Come on, come on, come on!

Kitty "Shadowcat" Pryde
Advanced Wind (English Version)
A change in time
I finally made up my mind
I raise my hand from beneath the shifting sand
And embrace the winds of change
Suddenly, everything is up to me
The pages turn, flashing full of memories
I can see all too clear
The time has come to face my fear
And there's a fire burning in my heart
Just shine when all is torn apart
And I will make it through this desert storm
Safe and warm
My shield is strong
I'll take my chances here and now
Bring on the fight
I'll find a way to win somehow
No, tomorrow's no regret
I'll risk it all for this brand new day
Sam "Cannonball" Guthrie
Resistance Line
Holding my fingertips in the air
and trusting myself to the western winds
I prepare to cross the arching horizon
If there's any meaning
in fighting there and then,
I can take flight without fearing to lose something
As I embrace sad memories with these arms
that have slashed at thousands of red shadows,
I can feel the heartbeat of the beginning of the future
I don't think anybody really
wants to hurt anyone else,
but if you have something important you want to protect
you may end up resisting even yourself
I'm living now, bearing it all
There are places I want to return to
and people who I love
They are the only reason
why I won't fall into despair
If the dream you searched for
at this culmination of times
is a fragile dream,
trust your own wings as the future begins
I understand that anyone
hides pain in his heart
but if you have something important you want to protect,
you may lose even your gentleness
and brandish only your furyI
don't think anybody really
wants to hurt anyone else,
but if you have something important you want to protect
you may end up resisting even yourself
I'm living now, bearing it all

Another Sarah Mclachlan song, this one reminds me of Rachel Summers:
Into the Fire
Mother teach me to walk again
Milk and honey, so intoxicating
I'm reunited
(Into the fire)
I am the spark
(Into the night)
I yearn for comfort
Open the doors that lead on into Eden
Don't want no cheap disguise
I'll follow the signs marked back to the beginning
No more compromise
And into the fire
I'm reunited
(Into the fire)
I am the spark
Into the night
I yearn for comfort
Free the water that carries me to the sea
You I see as my security
(Into the fire)
I'm reunited
(Into the fire)
I am the spark
(Into the night)
I yearn for comfort
I will stare at the sun until its light doesn't blind me
I will walk unto the fire until its heat doesn't burn me
And I will feed the fire
Into the fire
I'm reunited
(Into the fire)
I am the spark
Into the night
I yearn for comfort
Into the fire...

When "Strong Enough" first came out, I immediately thought of Rogue! Every time I hear the song, I think of Rogue. Good pick!
And good luck on your paper. I know a few of us who should be studying for our final exams right now, but this thread is kind of fun. :)
God, I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I'd be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Nothing's true and nothing's right
So let me be alone tonight
You can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me
I promise, I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave
I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
It's try and love me if you can
Are you man enough to be my man?
When I've shown you that I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and cannot stand
Will you be strong enough to be my man?
Lie to me
I promise, I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave
And now I have 2 and a half hours to finish my essay. No sleep for me tonight. *sighs*

Keeping with my "Best Soundtrack for an Issue or Story Arc (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?p=1067053#post1067053)" theme (self-referential to be sure. Yes, I do love myself.)... :D
Anyway... my favorite X-Men issue: Uncanny X-Men #186.
Storm and Forge: "Lifedeath."
(Most here have read it I'm sure, so no need to go into it. Uncannyxmen.net (http://uncannyxmen.net/db/issues/showquestion.asp?fldAuto=479) has a synopsis though, for those who haven't.)
The song that I would pick... Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time.'
Here's the lyrics:
Lying in my bed, I hear the clock ticks, and think of you
Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new
Flash back, warm night, almost left behind
Suitcase of memories...
Time after...
Sometime you pictured me, I'm walking too far ahead
You're callin' to me, I can't hear what you've said
Then you say, "Go slow, I fall behind"
The second hand unwinds...
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me...
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting...
Time after time
I turn, my picture fades, and darkness has turned to grey
Watching through windows, you're wondering if I'm okay
Secrets, stolen, from deep inside,
The drum beats out of time...
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me...
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting...
Time after time
If you're lost, you can look and you will find me...
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting...
Time after time
Time after time...
Now wipe that tear away and get thee to iTunes!
Go on... scoot.
And while you're at it (and it's not on iTunes, but... ) check out Miles Davis' cover of 'Time After Time' on his "Live Around the World (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002N29/102-8527937-5864935?v=glance)" and "You're Under Arrest (http://miles-davis.com/laterworks/flat.html)" CDs.
(The "You're Under Arrest" CD is kind of crummy, as was most of his work during that period. It was during the later stages of his life when he wasn't playing as well, IMO, but his 'Time After Time' is still cool.)

"Blackbird" by the Beatles reminded me of Psylocke and Angel when they were together.
Lyrics:
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
