Wow. Batwing orgins are quite amazing, learning who he was as kid is becoming compelling story. The Masscare fight was awesome aswell. Also nightwing isnt the only one with tasers! Which is cool . Also Thunderfall epic death was great send off i thought. The art was thier and high action packed fighting was thier. Also the kingdom is not what we thought it was.. I knew thier was twist.. Masscare will be back i will assume but im sure their more villans that are not happy with the kingdom...4.5/5. The orgins of david in the next issue shall be a intresting issue.

I liked the fight with Massacre, the reveal of the Kingdom not being quite the heroes that they appear to be, Thunder Fall's death, and I thought the scene in the past was interesting. Very curious find out what the Kingdom did to screw everyone over and earn this hatred from Massacre. Good issue, I probably enjoyed it even more than the first two.
My favorite part of the issue was honestly the opening scene. I expect we will get more of it next issue, but its cool to learn that David has a brother, whose fate we're not quite sure of. Let the speculation begin!

Best issue of Batwing imo to date. While the first issue leaned a bit too heavy on shock value by my estimation, this third issue was nicely balanced. Great intro into David's past (and he was awesome even as a young man), excellent fight between Batwing and Massacre, and an ending while running the risk of sounding cliché...Made you want to know more. I really like this series. Well done Oliver, but Winick shouldn't get undersold on his contribution to this book.
4/5 stars.

Issue 2 was a bit of a let down. (not by much)
But Issue #3 redeemed the book. Looking forward to learning more about David.

Dude went down like a champ. That speech was godly. His death, that fact that he saved David (and not the other way around), is gonna seriously hunt Batwing. Things have gotten even more personal.
I really hope that Issac isn't Massacre. Not that I'll stop reading:tongue: but putting brothers up against each other has been done to death.

Good issue. only issue so far that I could predict how it would play out basically. I called there being something shady about the Kingdom, but that was pretty apparent, it will be interesting to learn exactly what it is.
And we got a little incite about David's past like the solicit hinted at.
I think one of the minor highlights of this issue is we actually get more of a sense of what Batwing's suite is capable of. Grapple hooks, taser like electric shocks, paintballs, medical stuff etc.

Yeah, but we don't know diddly about David's brother. Or what he is doing currently. He could have gotten mixed up in something that would give him intimate knowledge about The Kingdom. But like I said before I hope that they don't go that route.

This is a really great series that's kept up the quality from 1 to 3 so far. I'm liking it alot. The art isn't always the kind of art I go for, but I like it in this book.
It's weird, I had no interest whatsoever in this book before it came out, and alot of good words got me to pick it up. I'm glad I did.

Loved Thunderfall's speech. He went down as a hero and I think his words as well as his death will have a profound effect on David as he makes his own journey as a hero.
I likewise hope Issac isn't Massacre but if he is I still keep reading anyway. This is my favorite book of the New 52 and one of several that surprised me with how good it is.

Man, this is definitely the best book that Winick is writing currently (and to think that I was much more excited for Catwoman).
Winick is creating a great universe for Batwing, where there are old superheros, mysteries and terrible enemies. Shame about Thunder Fall, I was hoping that he would become one of David's supporting cast, but I guess that is part of the plot.
I was'nt even sure about trying this title, but now is one of my first buys of the week.

Not to mention embarrassing.
As in--DC found a way to make a superhero in Africa work..when Marvel abandoned the concept as un-doable.
Nothing worse than someone doing something better than you can.

I'm wondering if Massacre is David's brother. But yet we still know nothing of him apart from killing armed men along with David. I like how lighting falls is still remains a hero by saving David.
I must say, I never expected this book would be on top of my list. David doesn't seem like a generic superhero, Judd did an awesome job with the characters.
I'm interested to see more about The Kingdom in the next issue

Another Judd Winick's masterpiece in the making. Man, I love this series so much.
Althought, I kind of suspected that these heroes must have done something bad and horrible... it's kind of cliched.
To me, Massacre is either a victim of the Kingdom or an ex member went insane with grief for what they've done.
I don't think he's David brother, he saw David unmasked back in issue 1/2 when he stabbed him in the back. I guess he would have reacted a little.

I thought the brother was the one David referenced in the beginning of issue 2. Although the vagueness of it does leave it open to interpretation i guess, even if it'd make sense.
Cliched indeed, and usually that's pretty bad due to its overuse(obviously) but that just means they have a higher standard to live up to.
So far I think it will be executed well, but we'll have to wait and see.
I don't know how I'd feel about Massacre being David's brother. Certainly, it's a possibility. It's an old and often used trope to have the villain be your long-lost sibling (Batwoman and Desperado (the movie) leap immediately to mind), but then, it's used because that's something that resonates with people. So if it does end up being his brother I'll keep reading, because I'm enjoying the series. I just hope that whatever his motivation ends up being that it's believable.

If you mean down the road then I could see that working. But in respect to the near future I think it's best to let Batwing develop on its course, and in doing so it will define who and what The Kingdom were. David is the current hero in charge of Africa, and he's just getting started. I want more of him and his adventures first and foremost. All the while introducing new rogues for Batwing, and in turn the DCU.

This book has managed to get better with every issue. I picked up the first issue not knowing what to expect, but it's been a great ride so far. I enjoyed seeing a glimpse into David's past (and look forward to getting more of that in the future), and the fight was pretty excellent.
Winick is doing a great job at fleshing out this character and the whole world around him.

They did that with Batwoman. I'm not condoning it; I think it was a dumb idea and unlikely coincidence. But well, there are people out there doing it, so don't dismiss the Massacre/Batwing connection...

I loved the first two books but i have to get this one. Count me as one of the people that dont understand why DC can do this where Marvel calmly bends over and takes defeat hard. Here you have average white guy wtiting a book about a black...not even that an african superhero that is intense, and very good read tha doesnt insult readers intelligence. My opinion is that DC should make effort to incorporate this character into the DC universe as a whole in a very slow and methodical way.

But I think we should wait at least a couple of arcs to let the character grown on his own before putting him on a team.

I think we have to wait. We have to let Winick define David and his hero identity Batwing.
Edit: I think Batwing made a move up on the top 100 comic book list. Good word of mouth no doubt.

I love this book. Of all the 52 this is definitely the one that feels the freshest. Everyone should be reading it.
I'm so disappointed in myself that I initially assumed this was going to be a waste of ink. Winick is hit and miss and Batwing's intro in Batman Inc. didn't do much for me, but now this is easily in my top five DC books (and it might be my favourite straight superhero comic).

Enjoying this.
Winick has yet to give David any real personality, beyond brave and tough and good, but I can appreciate that, with a pretty much all new character debuting with a hell of a lot of competition around it and no built-in fanbase to support it, the decision was made to start with an narrative which grabs you by the scruff of the neck and yanks you along for the ride. I hope and expect that we'll get a bit more of David's personality as we go along.
Seems pretty set up for massacre to be his "long lost" brother, especially considering David's line as mentioned above. No doubt this is leading to the reveal, with the result being that David decides his motivation is much more than that now, that it has transcended the personal to be truly heroic (arguably a mirror of his "benefactor"). Still a bit tired it has to be said, and like batwoman, this will tarnish it a tad. Also struggled to take seriously the idea that david and his brother beat up all of those people with their bare hands. Kinda a stretch too far.
Still, very enjoyable nonetheless, and the art is stoatin'

Not as good as the first two, but a worthy read.
"There are things I can do that he can't."
Simple line, but I hope Judd really takes the reigns on this. I loved the mid-air counter that Batwing did against Masscare, and the liquid bandage. The guy's got a hi-tech suit, let's see more more hi-tech attacks and devices, combined.
I'm also looking forward to more of David's past being revealed, specifically the bit at the very beginning. A cutthroat kid who was reformed? Hmm...
