View Full Version : Anybody Watch NCIS Last Night?

The main storyline (a mystery that wasn't--I had the killer pegged by the end of the first act) wasn't any great shakes but the sub-plot (in which the team meets a DC homicide unit who eerily parallel them in makeup and personality) was a hoot. They even titled it "Doppleganger"! Somebody on their staff must be a comics geek.

I'm growing fonder and fonder of this show, which seems to be slowly morphing into a sly parody of its genre. Its creators know how preposterous their set-up is (I mean, c'mon, the CSI shows have DNA experts, ballistics experts, audio-visual analysts, computer recovery specialists, etc, etc,; NCIS has Goth cutie Abby, an expert in *all* these fields  ) and focus instead on the comic chemistry between the principals. If the scripts sometimes substitute schtick for wit, at least the characters have personalities and a sense of humor. The CSIs, by contrast, take themselves waay too seriously.

Anybody else got any love for this show or am I a lone voice crying in the wilderness?

Maybe not a comics geek, but perhaps a Seinfeld fan.

I saw this on at the gym (it was muted though). I've seen a couple episodes at the gym this way. I can never tell what's happening. Just know that the goth girl is cute, and Mark Harmon is a much prettier man than I am.

From the body language, I was wondering if the goth chick & the dorky guy that sat next to her a lot have a thing.

Isn't it always like that? In any movie, the dorky guy and the goth chick always seem to have more in common, hence more chemistry.

Anyway, last night was the first time I caught an episode (because I refuse to watch The Biggest Loser and the other channels had nothing good on). I watched it and noticed a similarity of the episode's main plot with Office Space; if you get the gang's computer scheme from the movie and replace the fraction of a cent with 1/337th of a prescription, you get the suspect's plan.

Which is still a good plan nonetheless. This show's pretty clever.

I really like this show! And yes they do have a thing going Abby and the geek agent! And she is very sexy in a scary way! The other chick is pretty hot as well!

I love the show, but man Tony would so be fired in any real world place.

My dad is so sick of his character.

Yeah, they could really stand to tone him down: less actionable behavior towards Kate, an end to the "probie" crap with Magee... *anything* that makes him something other than a shallow toon.

I also love this show. My Dad and I watch it together every week. My only real pet peeve is that annoying black and white still at the begginning of each act that tends to spoil someting.

Oh, and I adore Abby.

I love goth girls, but it's hilarious to know that my Dad LOVES her.

Yeah pretty much. He's supposed to be a reasonably competent investigator but all anyone really sees is his buffoonish nature.

Sorry for the thread ressurection, but the last new ep I saw seemed to give some insight into Tony's character; in that we did see that he actually was a good investigator (granted it was off screen but we saw the results of it; where he rattled off all the information about the case of the day despite having apparantly 'not moved from his seat all morning').

I get the impression that Gibbs's team is the Odd Team out; all of the wierd ones (or potentially wierd ones) tend to get on his team and wierdly enough his team gets results. Of the CSI leaders we have on TV currently, I think only CSI's Grissom would be able to handle the team as well as Gibbs does.

With that assumption, I would say Tony is a minor savant; very bad people handling skills, but a knack for doing the CIS stuff which keeps him around despite his actions in the team.
