looking for an old comic book story

i remember probably in the 1960's of reading a comic sci -fi story about a man spotting a horse trapped in some water. he dives off of a cliff and saves the horse. he uses this horse to make money winning horse races. the horse lures the man into the forest and puts him on a spaceship and takes the man to his planet where he is now betting on this human in diving competitions on his own planet.-----------does anyone remember in what comic book this story was published ??

Yes, sounds DC ... but maybe 'Strange Sports Stories.'

It's probably the story "The Martian Horse" in the comic book Mystery In Space #9 (http://www.comics.org/issue/9820/), originally published in the early 1950's. The story was reprinted in DC Special #13 (http://www.comics.org/issue/24335/) in the mid-1970's, where it was described on the cover as "What was the sensational secret of the horse who couldn't lose a race?"

thank you, you are a comic book genius. i've been looking for that particular story for about a month now....checking hundreds of back issues of sci fi comics and the comic book database. --with no success.--this has been one of my favorite stories along with "bronsons brain"-tales to astonish 45, where this guy thinks he is too smart for planet earth and builds a spaceship to search for other super intelligent life like himself and he ends up on a planet where even the babies are smarter than him.
