So, I've noticed near-unanimous praise for this series around the X-Boards, and since the thread celebrating its tenth anniversary sort of dropped off the radar, I thought I'd make this new thread, to collect all that praise in one place. Discuss the series and its characters here, and give some thought to the BIG questions: Is Venus Dee Milo dead? Is U-Go Girl a war criminal like Beast? Just what IS Doop? Is Hawkeye usually that much of an ass? What role did Battering Ram want on the team, anyway? Was it a mistake from a storytelling perspective to kill off Plazm? Measured in Richard Simmonses, how FABULOUS is Bloke?

Eh, better to end it on a high note than possibly have it go on to suck, I think.

A rather Bruce Timm-esque Edie (though apparently not by Bruce Timm).

It won't suck so long as Milligan's writing it.

I think they should bring back Katie Sawyer and reveal that she's an Omega-level mutant. Hey, all the other super-people's kids are. Arnie Lunt is a good candidate for Omega too, I think.

That's a Brian Steelfreeze.

I WANT IT!
Also, I wonder if Lacuna still has her powers...

The best X-book to come out of Marvel since the original Claremont X-Men revamp, in my opinion. I really wish they'd get Allred and Milligan back together for another run, or at least a mini.

One of the
best runs I've read. I read it again and for some reason it just didn't hold up as well as the first time. It's fine for a one time read.

It'd be fairly easy to bring Edie back, at least. Just have her hit a jackpot in the underworld casino from Incredible Hercules, where she was last seen.

I have yet to read it, mostly because I'm tasteless scum, but what is it about X-Statix that makes it such a compelling read before I bleed my wallet for the Omnibus? Help me, X-Boards!

No need to splurge for the Omnibus if you're willing to pay a few bucks a month for a Digital Comics account. The entire run's on there, both titles.

User The Mirrorball Man did this incredible bootilicious rendering of Venus...
I wish they could bring her back into New X-Men.

You know, I really liked that the X-Statix team dealt with "realistic" issues like militant groups and border disputes and all that. Yeah, they just did it for money and glory, but in doing so they probably did more for the world than half the guys who do the hero thing out of altruism...

I'm pretty sure Spyke and Orphan appeared in one of those 9/11 back-pages done by Mike Allred. They're way off in the back. It's nice to see them randomly cameo.

They have names now. Thanks, handbook! Introducing...

Venus De Milo was my fav, but i think she did survive because isn't her mutant powers turn her into a being of pure energy so she could have re-made herself somehow.
Like you i would love to see her back also.

I wish the X-Statix gang hadn't all died--well, except for Doop. It was nice to see an X-Team/X-Book that didn't take itself so seriously. I hope they come back some how: maybe the events of Necrosha ressurected them and they went underground! *fingers crossed*

Originally, Henrietta was going to be a ressurected Princess Diana! Apparently, the People's Princess would've been a mutant, and her powers returned her to life...I think. That idea didn't last once the storyline was leaked online and international furor made Marvel create Henrietta in her place.

Late to the party on X-Statix (I was out of comics when this came out) but I am reading the first trade now and I love it. And I want to read the whole run, so thinking about buying the Omnibus...

On Comixology? I searched for these issues on there but didn't see any.

Finally read and finished the Omnibus and hot damn was this a great read. Loved every single issue and loved all the characters. Milligan wrote them all so damn well and found great ways to make them stand out on their own and bring them to life. Despite being fame whores and usually unlikable, there was still a lot about these characters that made you fall for them. And you wouldn't believe how pissed or disappointed I was when a character would be killed off.
I can say that my favorite characters were The Spike and Phat. LOOOVED The Dead Girl/Dr. Strange mini.
