I think it's somewhat slowed down because the combo of action/animal man/swamp thing is difficult to overcome.

Now this is a good example of losing a sale, but gaining alot more in the future potentially.

"Ryan Seymore, general manager of Comic Town in Columbus, Ohio, has reordered just about every #1 issue from DC, but when he's sold out, he tries to take care of customers any way he can to maintain their interest in comics."

"Guests are freaked out when we ask if we can call other stores or give them the address to other stores when looking for titles that we are sold out of," Seymore said. "It's hard for people to get past the thought that a store would actively 'lose' a sale where we look at it as helping some one who has the same potential passion for the hobby as we do make sure they get the books they are looking for."

How much you wanna bet anyone who gets a book from another store when they're sold out is gunna come back to this guy who actually recommends other shops to go to? He'd sure have me as a paying customer for the foreseeable future.

Wow, increasing sales by a factor of ten? Plus an untold number of digital sales?

Say what you want about the New 52 as a creative project, it's obviously a huge commercial success. Even if 80% of these new readers drop out, DC will have doubled their regular readership!

Hey, we still have Batman on the horizon, don't forget. And I am pretty sure All Star Western will be a critical success.

anyway. go DC! I'm so glad things are looking good for them.

Gotta give DC an A+ for the hype success. They have to be thrilled with the results so far, but we all know the real test is the sales a year from now.

Regardless of the long term results, this is good for not only DC but the entire industry. The new 52 has given comics some much needed attention.

QFT
10 char

I'm sorry I don't know what that means.

I looked it up on acronym finded and only saw "Quite F***king True" but for some reason I'm thinking it stands for "Quit F***ng Trying." I also don't get the 10 char thing. Is it like +10 points or something?

The forum will not allow a post with less than 10 chacters. "QFT" alone would get rejected, so adding "10 chars" adds gibberish that also explains why the gibberish is there.

i just hope this takes some wind out of Marvel's sails. I hope people see the new DC stuff, like it, and that at least some of them abandon Marvel's over-priced, decompressed, over-hyped crap. Maybe then they'll stop gouging their fans so egregiously.

No need to bash Marvel like that. Some of their (non-Bendis or Fraction) titles are quite good. Surprisingly though, USM #1 was great.

so far, i'm fairly impressed with what i've read. the titles being JL, GL, and Batwoman. solid writing and good art.

turns out we're now getting more bang for our buck than the $3.99 average priced Marvel read. (with non-comic ads:mad:. i understand when Dynamite prices something at $3.99 and has only THEIR new comics ads).

but, i still have to see if the other #1s on my list will be as good. i hope so.

Yeah, thank you! ASM, Thunderbolts, FF, JIM, and Black Panther to name a few. I'm so sick of uncessary bashing.
Anyway, I'm glad for the hype, even if I'm a Marvel fan. Like others have said, if people see DC, they'll see Marvel's titles and pick em up too.

This is good for everyone (well, maybe not indies).

same here....KEEP ANIMAL MAN ALIVE!

i don't care how many people rave about the title....i see people praising titles all the time but yet the title's #'s are low and it eventually gets axed.

I was enjoying Hickman's FF, until the last few issues featured a whole 18 pages of story. Good writing or not, it's a rip-off.

Speaking of which, now that DC is doing so well and making lots of money, they'll be dropping the price any day now or adding back those 2 pages they shaved off all their books last year, right?

This is good for everyone (well, maybe not indies). If DC is successful at bringing in new fans and not just stealing Marvel fans, it really is good for everyone, even indies. Just getting more bods in the shops benefits the entire industry.

I wish there was more interest in indies, but right now getting more people to read comics, any comics, is a direction that has to be encouraged.
