Westfield Comics v. Mycomicshop v. DCBS

Hello Folks,

I need to decide where I should place my next order from Diamond Previews. I have been ordering so far from Mile High Comics NICE club but unfortunately I had to cancel the service. NICE is great, it allows you to subscribe to titles and forget about placing orders every month but they are currently very slow in shipping the comics. I had weekly shipping but, for example, I received today the comics released on August 31st. The delay is too long.

I have selected the following services so far:


Westfield Comics
Mycomicshop.com
DCBS


I would love to get some feedback on these services from current users. I am interested in easiness of placing orders, packaging, fast shipment, coolness in managing placed orders (see the status of the order, etc.).

As far as I know DCBS has the largest discounts

Midtown Comics worked out nice for me. Though I had them ship to the store. They have constant sales and most back issues are always discounted by about 10% of whatever the current price is for the comic. There's ordering tracking and all the usual features of a better online e-tailer.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I know that DCBS has the biggest discounts but I was wondering how is their ordering experience, if they ship super soon, how do they package the comics, etc.

I order from DCBS for my monthlies once a month. Last Wed of the month, they ship my order and I receive it, via UPS, on Wed (Thu if Mon was a holiday). I have received some damaged issues but it's a rare occasion and it was a minor crease. I mainly like using them for the discounts because you just cant beat 40%-75% off the cover price.

Never ordered monthlies from mycomicshop but I order back issues from there constantly. I don't like their shipping methods. They take about a week, same as DCBS but they place the issues inside a plastic bag (picture a less sturdier and bigger comic bag) between two cardboard pieces and take them up. If the comics don't fit in one plastic bag then they take 2+ bags together and this is what I don't like because if youre not careful removing the tape you can damage the spines of the comics. Other than that, I have no complaints with mycomicshop on back issues. No idea how they do monthlies but I'd imagine it's the same.

Anyways, I appreciated your feedback on DCBS. You are right, they have a terrific discount system which is unbeatable. I would choose weekly shipping because I can't wait to have my comics every week.

Oh don't get me wrong I like mycomicshop. I just don't like the way they tape their shipments.

Takes about a week for me to receive my comics after they ship them.
