Creepy. But there's been more frighteningly ironic.
Like how on the night Vincent Price died, A&E were already scheduled to air (and did air) his Biography special.
Then there was the guy that played Timmy the Doll on NBC's Passions and the character died the same day the actor did.

RIP-Ivan Dixon
A lot of you may not know the name but if you ever watch episodes of Hogan's Heroes you have seen his work. Dixon played the character James Kinchloe and was on of the few African-American actors on tv at the time.
He was also well known for his role as Lonnie in the cult classic film Car Wash ( He was the father figure of the group and convinced Bill Duke character not to rob the car wash ).
He was also a respected director who directed hundreds of tv episodes including "The Waltons," "The Rockford Files," "Magnum, P.I." and "In the Heat of the Night." As well as the movies "Trouble Man" and "The Spook Who Sat By The Door."
He was one of my inspirations and will be greatly missed.:(

Dick Martin Dead at 86 (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/TV/05/25/dick.martin.ap/index.html)
For some of us of a certain age, there was a time in our lives where Dick Martin was one of the funniest guys in the world.
Along with his partner Dan Rowan and the rest of the cast of the classic 1960’s comedy series, Laugh-In Martin brought raw, in your face humor to television for the first time.
To the team nothing was sacred, not politics, society, sex or the war in Vietnam and Martin was the lynchpin that held it all together.

Laugh-In was one of the great shows in television history.
It introduced an entire generation of American comics and actors like Flip Wilson and Lilly Tomlin, introduced a fast pace style of comedy to American television, and changed the very format of what a comedy show actually should be.
Plus on more then one occasion it made me snort my chocolate milk right out my nose.
If there is an afterlife, both Dan & Dick can rest easy knowing that they did something that was pretty damm good.

Bummer, man. Too many people freaking out now-a-days, everyone just immediately jumps to violence.
As for the other debate, you can call someone of the same sex good looking or cute without being gay or bi. It's called being secure with your sexuality.
Spike-X

I dont mean that. its okay if you have an idol like that but just you shouldnt really call them "cute" thats diffrent, thats like really having fellings for somebody but if you want to look like them you dont have real feelings
But what if you do have feelings (or fellings, if you like) for them? Is it okay to call them cute then?

As long as the comment dont include you wanting to sleep with him I dont find it uncommon for a straight person to say a male celebrity is attractive, as long as he dont go too far with his comments.
Spike-X
05-25-2008, 04:03 PM
not if the other isnt bi or gay, or young. its what a pred or perv does
Well, the young man in question was 18, and we don't know if he was gay or straight or somewhere in between. So does that make it okay now?
Also, you're wrong. There's nothing predatory or perverted in referring to another human being as cute, no matter your/their sexual orientation or any damn thing else.
Spike-X
05-25-2008, 04:09 PM
I get what you mean, and what you are saying is correct but it is pretty much just dumb to like somebody if they are the opposite of what sex they like.
All he said was he thought the guy was cute. Doesn't mean he wanted to marry him. Seriously, you're putting way too much thought into this.

Sydney Pollack (http://www.imdb.com/news/flash/) has died.
He made some amazing films, his last time in the director's seat was a great documentary about the amazing architect Frank Gehry. While I enjoyed him in films like Tootsie, Eyes Wide Shut, Michael Clayton, and Made of Honor (which is better than it looked to be), as well as in Will & Grace as Will's dad, I wondered why he wasn't directing. Maybe it was because of his battle with cancer, whatever the reason, I'm glad we have him on film. I always enjoyed him, in front of, or behind the camera, acting, interviewing, or being interviewed. I'm a big fan, and I'm going to miss him a lot.

I can't believe Sydney Pollack passed away. He was a premiere director. I think Tootsie is one of the funniest movies of all time. He also directed Tom Cruise in The Firm, but he's probably best known for his seven films with Robert Redford, including Three Days of the Condor, The Way We Were, Jeremiah Johnson and Out of Africa.

Like Michael P, I've found myself randomly saying "dammit" - aloud and to myself - all morning.
And since I first heard (and even since I first tried posting a msg here - alas, the server must hate me) I've become a lot more depressed about his death.
It's fair to say Carlin influenced how I think - I'm a lot more pessimistic about the world & people around me, I've become a big fan of "words" (sweary ones, as well as looking at what people say and thinking about what they mean) and, most significantly, my sense of humor is incredibly warped (like George, I can easily laugh at the misery of others).
So this one HURTS. Which in the end is good because it means he really did mean something when he was alive.

Getty was made to look older than she actually was. Sophia was a great character, the best written on the show, and I think the one that was most eagerly welcomed by the public. I know she suffered with dementia for several years. One of the last times I saw her do any publicity was when she was on the Rosie O'Donnell Show. She seemed lost through most of it, and Rosie had to pull her through the interview. A few months later, she was on TV again, and said that there had been a problem with conflicting medications, but that it was sorted. She was much more the person we all remembered then. Several years went by, and while doing press for a Golden Girls reunion special, Bea Arthur, looking very brokenhearted, spoke about Estelle, and how bad her dementia had gotten. Subsequently MacLanahan and White shared similar stories. I'm not surprised, but it's still very sad.

The great thing is, he didn't have to do that for his sister's kids, too. He could've let another family member handle it or another selfish solution that most of us would probably take. Rather, he took a duty that wasn't his and made it his own. That's the definition of being a big man in my book.

I enjoyed Jerry Reed and Tom Selleck on the short-lived Concrete Cowboys (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078990/). When it ended, Reed was truly pissed. In an interview he complained about how if a show isn't a hit in New York, LA or Chicago it dies, regardless of what the rest of the country thinks of it. That was how I learned of the Nielsen system and it's inequalities. I think that's what first piqued my interest in the business of entertainment, so thank you, Mr. Reed.

"She started out as Number One in the origina Star Trek pilot, The Cage. Later after the second pilot gave birth to a series, she portrayed Nurse Chapel. She played Deanna Troi's mother, Lwaxana, on The Next Generation and reprised that character on Deep Space Nine. If the computers on the four Star Trek series and the various Star Trek movies sound familiar, it's because she gives voice to them all. She has appeared on screen in almost every Star Trek film. In real life, Gene Roddenberry married her. Scientists believe the universe is held together by invisible dark matter. I think it's held together by Majel Barrett."
