I had only been in LA for about 2 months. Some friends were having a party, and I went, knowing only about 6 of what seemed like 300 people, jammed into a 2 bedroom apartment in Valley Village. I was talking to a woman who worked for Paramount, when I heard someone rumble about "Bruno..." My friend Dan walked by, and I asked him what the Bruno-stuff was about? In his inimatable style, he said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's... right over, no, there he is, well, that's the girl he's with, his wife? I don't know..." I'm not sure whose friend of a friend of a friend he was, but he was there! I tried to make my way over to say hello, but the number of people in the small space made it something akin to fighting the tides. I never got to meet him, but I did make eye-contact as he was leaving. He was a really great every-man, and I'll miss his wonderful simplicity, and presence.

Ford was tremendously underrated. He was never flashy, but was always dependable. He could do Westerns, Noir, Drama, and the father thing. In fact between Superman and The Courtship of Eddie's Father he probably deserves to be recognized as a great screen Dad.

It doesn't matter how old someone gets to be, their passing is NEVER expected. Micky Hargitay must've been a great dad, because Mariska just beams when she talks about him!
I see Christopher Lawford, son of Patricia Kennedy Lawford around town from time, to time. It's always weird when a Kennedy passes though. They're so ingrained into modern Americana, perhaps because of the 2 assassinations, as well as their collected political service. Even never having met the person, or their family, it feels very personal, somehow.

I just heard about Edward Albert, Jr., and it was a bit of a shock, to say the least. For a time in the 80's, it seemed like I couldn't turn the TV on without finding him guest-starring on at least a show per week. I didn't know about his environmental work, which sounds amazing. To lose someone so dedicated is a major blow.

Four years ago, when I was managing the theatre in Beverly Hills, a man came in, helping his frail elderly mother to walk in. There was something familiar about her; but I couldn't quite place her, until she spoke, at which point I said, while tearing her ticket, "Amanda!" She and her son smiled, and I ushered them into the theatre.
I never saw Father Knows Best. I was blown away by the subtlety of her performance as Spoke's mother in the original Star Trek, and it is an amazing performance, which though relatively quick in screen time, told us so much about Sarek, Vulcan, and Spock. When she re-created the role in the films, she was equally charming, and I especially loved her as Mrs. Auschlander on the beloved St.Elsewhere.

Bob Caroll, Jr. played a major part in defining what a sit-com is.
Sidney Sheldon was amazing. He spoke about the creation of I Dream of Jeannie, and said he called up William Asher, the show's producer and Elizabeth Montgomery's husband and said, "We're ripping your show off, how do we do it?" The two men brainstormed, and figured out what was important to keep, and what needed to be different, to make it a success. I always thought that was cool.

Ingmar Bergman, when I heard of his passing today, I was not sad at all, because he had such a body of work that his legacy is assured, he will live on forever and will never truly die, always capable of producing iconic imagery that is both timeless and beautiful...I hope he was truly proud of his achievements and of his life story, I am not sad because he lived a great life and I believe lived it to the best possible standard and probably passed with no regrets.
The only sadness if any is that there will be no more wonderful images, no more beautiful black and white photography, no more visual metaphors.
But that is of course a purely selfish thing.

Lois Maxwell, Miss Moneypenny in more Bond films than I can mention, has passed away.
I'm very sorry to hear this.
Maxwell was a truly funny and charismatic actress.
Still, if I'm doing my math right, she had to be at least 80, so at least she lived a full life.
My sympathy to her family and friends.
RIP.
Your math is right on; she was 80.
And I didn't know Christine Hewett passed away a few weeks ago. I met her at Star Wars Celebration III and she seemed so full of life. So many actors attend events like that and hate every second of it. She was having so much fun it was contagious.

not just French, he was about the best and most famous mime in the world
I'm very sorry for Marcel, but he had a long and renowned career. I've been lucky enough to watch one of his shows when I was a child (he was in his '70) and it was a work of pure art, a visual poem. And highly entertaining as well.

No Offense taken, I acually debated about writing something up on it but I thought about how she's been getting media press on the book she wrote and the charities she's was involved with I decided to pay my respects publicly. As for the surgery it was a brest reduction and a tummy tuck. I'm not a fan of cosmetic surgery either but brest reductions are normally done because of back issues it could have been recommended by her doctor.
