View Full Version : Who is the Most Dangerous Mutant?

There are a lot of Mutants now that can represent a grave threat to the whole. Who that lives among the X-Men is the biggest threat now?

The newest member of this group is Idie
She's pretty powerful, but more importantly she's nuts now. Not a good combination.

There's always Magneto. Insanely powerful, charasmatic, and constantly changing his views. He could do a lot of damage just by distancing himself from Cyclops, thereby gaining another mutant army. And by himself he can still pose an omeha level threat. He can never be discounted.

Magik is always a wildcard. However unlike many here she's not insane at all. Her ability to time travel at will is of course dangerous, as is her ability to teleport everyone into the sun in an instant. She's also proven to be a masterful tactitian and stategist who can use every X-Man as a pawn if need be. She leads a limitless demon army. And in the alternate realities where she truly went bad (in Excaliber and X-Men Forever) her sorcery alone was an omega level threat.

Colossus. He is now "unstoppable" and likely more powerful than the original was under Cytorak. He's had mental instability in the past and the powerr may be too much for him.

Hope. The "mutant messiah" doesn't seem to think the rules apply to her. She leads a small force with as little adult supervision as possible. She also has possible access to an absurd amount of power. The mere possibility of the Pheonix should scare anyone. And then there's Bishop's predictions.

Legion is arguably the most powerful mutant alive, with reality warping abilities. He's created entire alternate realities and has a long history of mental instability.

Cyclops. How far is too far from the dream?

I thought I had clicked on the thing at the bottom to set up a poll. Darn it.

LEGION.

http://***************/images/d72e08afe9.jpg

Hands down, right now. He created the Age of Apocalypse, and the Age of X, both horrible dystopian realities. He's killed his own father in the past, raped his own mother. He's powerful enough to write the elder gods out of reality. He's got serious psychological problems, and multiple personalities that each have their own bizarre and dangerous intentions, sometimes with the ability to will themselves into separate beings that can go on terrorist killing sprees.

Legion the combination of crazy and he could pass "easy kill" test. The easy kill test being if somebody snuck up and try to stab and shoot in the head and they succeed he can possible walk away.

Legion has all the tools and he nuts and he has enough powers to where he is not dying easy.Everybody else on the list takes a bullet to the head at right time their are dead.

Jaime Braddock vs Legion?

Again, I'd take Legion, because of his tendency to "divide and conquer", unwillingly at times, like in the last arc of X-Men: Legacy. He littered Europe with destructive mutants, in essence, subconsciously. He wasn't even willing it, or trying. It just happened.

Magneto, for the reasons you expertly put at the top.

I would have to say my list would be:

Magneto
Legion
Wolverine
Storm
Shadowcat
Archangel
Emma Frost
Cyclops
Sinister
X-23
Hope

not that they are powerhouses, but each one has the power, knowledge, and skills to be very dangerous.

Franklin Richards

He created his own universe when faced with losing his parents.

Legion is in that category true indeed and yet he is just a lil off the rocker.

I think Hope Summers, (Training from a said Nathan Christopher Summers a master strategist, a great soldier). She can Mimic any mutant so far as we know, She has Created Lights (mutants), when the mutant gene was announced dormant, and she has a bad temper. As a baby she had blown up Cerebro and that is when she was just a baby and has wiped Rogue's Hetacomb memories and the Strain 88.
IMO she is the most dangerous mutant and we don't even know it yet.

Rogue still can't control their powers as well as they do ergo she can't do anything they do.

I've always thought Shadowcat was one of the most deadly, discounted characters of the mutants. Imagine what she could do if she were amoral and had no compunctions about killing.

I say Legion is the most dangerous mutant. It's one thing to have firepower and control over the forces of nature. It's quite another to actually be able to warp reality and create entirely new timelines like Age of X. On top of that, Legion is not a stable mind. At least with guys like Magneto and Apocalypse, they have a focused and clear intent. With Legion you never know because his personalities are so chaotic. I think this combination is waht makes him most dangerous.

he altered reality only once for the age of X.
He travel to the past and try to kill Magneto but Xavier sacrifice his life to save Magnus so he didn't alter the reality but change the past and create e new timeline.

For me the more dangerous one is wanda coz she's crazy and she can change the whole reality affecting all the timeline.

I'd agree with this assessment. Legion has the most dangerous reality powers for this reason - when he's operating at peak-insanity he doesn't need to micromanage. He is followed by Wanda (who similarly orchestrates many concurrent reality changes to achieve her end result), Jamie Braddock (who sees reality as a series of strings to be plucked or yanked), and Franklin Richards (who is both limited and empowered by the scope of his young imagination).

Magik and Hope trail behind, if only because we don't fully understand what they are capable of.

I would argue that Magneto is past the point of being dangerous on a "world's most dangerous" scale any more than Storm, Iceman, or anyone else with control over an entire element or area of physics. The last time he legitimately held the world hostage was in Magneto War. He doesn't have the stamina or the vision to do it anymore.

On the meta level, much like both the music and newspaper industries struggling to convert to digital, a truly dangerous mutant villain in the modern Marvel universe needs to have a very diverse strategy for destruction. The old top-down model of dangerous sociopath with an inept team of lackeys doesn't cut it anymore, as Morrison delightfully mocked with Xorneto in Planet X. Could new Colossunaut tear a straight-line of damage through any city? Sure. But he would need to spiral the globe like an apple-peeler to be truly dangerous on his own.

The new most-dangerous villain either needs to be playing on a grander scale (all of reality), equally distribute their power in equally-strong independent nodes (Fear Itself, The Right), or implement a multi-pronged strategy with several levels of threat (Bastion, sometimes Apocalypse).

Any reality warpers.

Wolverine and his kin just because they are seemingly unstoppable.

Any mutant that can rally other mutants behind them such as Magneto, Xavier, or Cyclops etc. are potentially very dangerous.

The one that really stands out to me the most just based on powers, has to be Legion. If you just took the powers he displayed in the Lost Legions story arc he's top five right there, that's not even counting all the other 1000ish powers he hasn't even displayed.

No. Wanda and Franklin don't count because they do not live/work with the X-Men.

I altered the op a while ago to deal with this misunderstanding.

If there was a poll it seems Legion would be leading. But what about someone who can use Legion to do his/her dirty work and even defeated him just by scaring him?

Scarlet Witch is most dangerous imo, she warped the timeline everyone in the 616 lives in, not made another reaity that had nothig to do with this one and she almost made it so no other mutants were ever born. I also think that if Storm ever reaches omega level she could really be unstoppable, if she can use her powers on a global scale she could end the world. I also agree with all the others you mentioned. Professor X stands out to me as well.

Whatever happened to Exodus?

Shouldn't he be on this level of insane power... somewhere below the reality warpers, but still incredibly dangerous?

Hope's powers would be really dangerous if she ever wants to use 'em.

Of currently active mutants who are being used primarily in the X-books, I'm going to go with Hope -- she's got a lot of power, and enough idealism to decide to go out and do something really stupid. Besides, it would prove that Bishop Was Right. Legion also has a lot of power and is more likely to cause havoc, but seems likely to get distracted and fail to live up to his destructive potential, resulting in smaller scale devastation.

That's really subjective. I mean, what exactly are we qualifying as "most dangerous"? Are we just looking at power set? Taking into account personality, morality, and kill counts?

In terms of JUST their power set, I'd say it would have to be the reality warpers:
*Franklin Richards - stated in canon to be the most powerful mutant in existence, and unlike other reality warpers he can actually CREATE. Others can merely change what already exists, Franklin has been shown to be able to create from nothing.
*Legion - extremely powerful, considered a "god mutant", and mentally unstable to boot. He seems to have the potential for an unlimited powerset, thanks to each personality having it's own power.
*Jean Grey - able to sever timelines and erase them from existence.
*Scarlet Witch - was able to completely rewrite reality, creating a new "world" and causing the Decimation.
Also to be considered in that group (but less large-scale) would be Proteus and Jamie Braddock.

Magneto, Storm, Polaris, Magma, and (possibly) Rictor and Avalanche would fall into being dangerous because their wide-scale abilities can impact the planet itself. They can cause natural disasters, alter healthy environments, and generally wreck havoc if they wanted to.

In terms of just person-to-person threat, of course we need to consider people that are either deadly up close or have the willingness to use deadly force. That'd mean Elixir (omega-level healer able to cure or kill with a touch), Wolverine, X-23, Daken, Loa, Blink, Lois London, Illyana, pretty much all of X-Force, and telepaths.

I think the most dangerous mutants are...

Legion
Magneto
Storm
Hope (lot of potential)
Iceman

Save for Xavier & Emma, they have feats of power that show how they could potentially end all life on the planet.I think Emma and Xavier could also make this list.
