Hello all (new guy here!)

I had this wild idea for a new book based out of the GL corner of the DCNU. I figured if The Red lanterns can get their own title, why not the Sinestro Corps? hear me out...

Since Sinestro is now back wearing the Green, the Sinestro Corp needs a new leader. Sinestros right hand man Arkillo steps up and decides to take the Corp in a new direction.
"We will maintain order in the universe, but we will do it OUR way. Fear is our fuel. Fear is our tool. Fear is our WEAPON."
The main mantra is that the Sinestro Corp, and ONLY the Sinestro Corp, have the authority to cause terror. So that means hunting down the most feared creatures in the universe, and taking them out.
My idea is that when you've got the SC hunting you, you are officially The Worst Of The Worst. Something like the show "Criminal Minds" or "Dexter" where the hunters basically become the prey.
Each story would have a horror element, where you see these really nasty ultracriminals, intergalactic psychopaths and terrorists doing their thing and wreaking havoc on folks across their sectors of the galaxy. Then towards the end, the Yellow Lantern hunts them down and deals with them in a really sadistic, gruesome way (think the TV shows "Freddy's Nightmares" and "Tales From The Crypt"). Maybe have some ongoing subplots with members of the SC having personal agendas, or some big baddie that might even be too nasty for the Sinestros to handle on their own.
You could market the series with a whole "Root For The Bad Guy" theme, maybe soften the book up a little by including some of DC's most violent heroes (re: Lobo).

i think this would work as a comic series, but I wanted to see if anyone agreed. your thoughts?

I think it could experience some success as a limited series, but I doubt it would endure as an ongoing title. Generally, it's hard to maintain the idea of a villain (or set of villains) as protagonists. The Joker, for example, had his own title for a while during the 1970s, but it didn't sell well enough to last more than a few issues. Readers loved the Joker, but couldn't get into too many stories in which he was the protagonist rather than antagonistic foil to Batman.

I would read this. Maybe have a crossover with the New Guardians book or the Red Lanterns who have lots of negative history with Sinestro. Maybe they should try to recruit Hal Jordan. Lots of people fear Parallax.

Don't take my suggestion to mean that I think the Red lanterns will fail. I just think you can really do some things story-wise with "fear as weapon" even beyond the scope of what they do over in the Batman corner of the DCNU.
Just as The Reddies will explore "Rage as a weapon" in a way different to what they do in the Hulk-verse.

When you ask "what would terrify even the most hardened criminals, sociopaths and predators in the universe?" you open a lot of possibilities. Imagine an intergalactic serial killer name Rumoz over in the Quarg galaxy. He is shown pulling victims out of their spaceships and taking them to his lair inside a white dwarf (or something) where he tortures them by slowly dissecting them and feeding them their own body parts before disemboweling them and feeding their body parts to his 7-mouthed pet Xangalog.
but then he invades a yellow spaceship and kidnaps a couple of random space adventurers. He tortures the first one and makes the other one watch, but for some reason he starts developing a nasty cough. While torturing the poor dude, Rumoz's health quickly deteroiorates, and none of his medpacks are working to reverse the condition. he doesn't know what is wrong with him, and he is now worried for his own health. we should feel the terror inside this guy as his own body turns against him. he turns and blames his condition on his captives, kills the guy he was torturing, and then turns to kill the other guy, but then drops dead as he is about to make the killing blow. then, out of his dead, open mouth flies Despotellis, who reports his mission accomplished. the captive thanks Despoteliis and asks to be released, but the sentient virus simply says "I didn't come here for you." and leaves, stranding the poor victim in the lair a la SAW.
that's kind of what I had in mind for this story. It would probably work better as a limited series or a one-shot instead of an ongoing. Maybe in the first issue, Arkillo takes command and one of the corps objects to being one of the "good guys." Arkillo responds by stripping the member of its ring and viciously murdering it to make an example to the others. "You either hunt with me... or get hunted by me."

I'm pretty sure they plan on keeping Sinestro a GL atm..so they can't really do this. Also, they can only have so many GL books.

Also, if they did for some reason do it, I would for sure buy it. The sinestro corps has some awesome characters.

Guannage! Welcome to the Boards my man!

Great idea for the Sinestro Corps, but I think it would have to be a limited series or a major event like Sinestro Corps War. The problem with making the Sinestros anti-heroes is that the role is already filled by the Red Lanterns (they have "righteous" rage...rage due to someone hurting them or others that they loved). The Sinestros should be complete villians through and through and through, spreading fear b/c you really have no idea where they will strike next or who they will take out or WHY they are attacking in the first place!
