while commenting on wyokid's "Relaunch Return" thread I realized that I was more excited about the ultimate universe after Ultimatum than I am now after Death of Spider-man. I'm not a Loeb fan but Ultimates 3 wasn't THAT bad, or the Cap Annual, and I really enjoyed Ultimate X. Millar's stuff was kind of a let down and Ultimate Spidey was as great as always. I loved LaFuente's art.

EDIT: please try to ignore what you already know about the UU after Ultimatum since it'll probably affect your decision. just try to remember how you felt before the relaunch and why.

As I really got more into Ultimate Comics after Ultimatum (ironic, huh?) I'm much more excited for the post-DoSM launch because I'm all caught up with what I needed to read and I didn't really get to experience the excitement of the relaunch post-ultimatum.

Ultimatum didn't leave me excited for what came next, it left me concerned. I just couldn't see where they could go from there to bring back the quality the line once had.

Thankfully, the post-Ultimatum stuff was on the whole pretty good (though the majority of it is still somewhat weaker than the best of the pre-Ultimatum stuff).

Post-DOSM promises to have a lot more in it of what made the original line's run so good and to be a much tighter ship.

Plus, we're getting a Hawkeye mini. Fuck yeah.

I hated Ultimatum, but I was stoked to see Art Adams on a book, but dropped Ult. Spidey because I didnt love the art or the price increase.

Looking forward to Ult more now because of the writing. It seems like every book has a strong story, cast. and creative team behind it.I am not worried about delayed books with Sandoval,Medina,Pinchelli, and they will probably rotate with Ribic.

After seeing Ultimatum, I had felt that the Ultimate Universe had just become a giant train wreck and it really didn't leave me excited for anything, but just left a dark feeling. While DoSM killed an iconic hero, the things that came out around it left a lot of be excited for such as the return of the X-Men, Nick Fury's return as head of S.H.I.E.L.D., and a lot of previews to some great stories to come from Fallout. This time around, it's not about picking up the pieces of a broken universe, but moving forward to the future.

I guess I'm more excited post DoSM, since we've seen our first ressurection. (Wanda)

So now we have three eras. Post DOSM being the Start of the Third.

Pre Ultimatum: 2000-2009
Post Ultimatum: 2009-2011
Post DOSM: 2011-????

As to the question definetly Post DOSM. Ultimatum felt like one of those in of the world events that if comics ever went out of print u would write.

I still say it's not really her  There's something very off about her, and we've only seen like 2 panels of her so far, which just goes to show you how noticeable it is... We'll find out soon though (I hope).

I voted for both equally. I always look forward to what's coming next so I gotta say I was as equally excited about Post-Ultimatum as Post-DoSM. Though, to be fair, it almost seems like Post-DoSM is trying to go back to the roots of the UU, making it very similar to the first era. I have a good feeling that we will be getting a good mix of "original feel" and "fresh" in the new era.

Although I don't necessarily think Heroes cleaning up after screwing the world is bad. I liked Wildstorm's take.

I was more excited for Post-Ultimatum.

Post-DoSM doesn't have Jeph Loeb on the Ultimates nor Bi-monthly format that gets delayed, so yeah 3 ongoing titles coming at a time is way more exciting than Bendis and Millar, despite how much i love Millar's writing.

Post-DOSM definitely. I mean, I was glad USM was here to stay and Ultimate Avengers sounded interesting, but it doesn't measure up to the hype for these 4 new series.

I was excited for both equally, but for very different reasons.

My first foray into superhero comics was reading through the entire UU, and I (coincidentally enough) finished right after Ultimatum ended. So that marked the first time I was reading comics on a monthly basis, and that was awesome to me. USM #1 was the first monthly I bought. So it wasn't about hype (because I wasn't on CBR yet) or potential quality (because I had just finished the facepalm that is Ultimatum), but instead because it was something new.

Post-DoSM, on the other hand, is happening while I'm at a much different stage of comic reading. I'm excited about this because of what the writers and editors are saying it will be. I have no doubt in my mind that the first six months of the relaunch will be better than anything that's come since Ultimatum, and that excites me in a huge way.

I'm in somewhat of a similar boat: Since 2006 I've only been collecting Ultimate Spider-Man, then when I heard about Ultimatum I got excited because it seemed like such a game-changer that I then opted to start reading Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four. Then, of course, 3 issue later (each) they got cancelled. It was at this point that I then decided to not miss my chance with any other UU titles and just subscribed to every single one. Now that Post-DoSM is upon us I get to collect Ultimate X-Men monthly and even the Ultimates monthly, which is something that NOBODY has been able to do before.

What excites me the most is the fact that we are going back to a Pre-Ultimatum feel in the UU and I now get to experience it full-fledged rather than just collecting USM. Post-Ultimatum was great and everything, but it just seemed so Avengers-Centered while the relaunch is universe-wide and we get 3 of the 4 original corners of the UU. Hopefully an FF title comes out eventually.

Ultimatum. Had some Peter Parker stories to look foward to.

Gotta say I'm REALLY excited for Hawkeye though.

Post-DoSM for me.

I quit comics for a while after Ultimatum and so I wasn't even aware of the post-Ultimatum books. One of the things I really like about post-DoSM right now is that there are only three books (that's Ultimates, X-Men, Spider-Man, not counting the Hawkeye) mini. That's a pretty low-cost way to be introduced to an entire line of comics.

Imagine the possibilities if it is her though...anyone can come back!!! But you're probably right, most likely it's not the real Wanda. Still I'm gonna hope it is.

Post Ultimatum. I saw the cover of Ultimate X and was dreading it, I saw the art for Ultimate Spider-Man and was dreading it, I saw that Millar was writing Ultimate Avengers and was dreading it, and I saw that Loeb was writing New Ultimates and was so excited. I ended up loving them all.

So does that mean you're dreading all the post DoSM titles?? You're logic, as always, confuses me.

No. You underestimate how excited I was for Loeb.
