So we found out that Ben Reilly isn't going to be the new Spider-Man. I am a little disappointed, but it's water under the bridge. All the same, it got me thinking that he could make a decent antagonist. After all, he has the brains to be a threat. Plus he's clearly a bit of an amoral bastard, having stole Peter's DNA so he could recreate the monster Carnage and five clones, just to further the CIA's d*** measuring contest with Nick Fury and SHIELD. Who knows, he might even be responsible for the new Spider-Man in some way, shape, or form.
Any thoughts?

Ultimate Ben Reilly? The guy in his like 40s who works for Dr. Conners and caused the Clone Saga?

No, the other one.
Edit: That was a little heavy on the sarcasm, sorry. But yes, you are correct. I don't know if he was in his forties though. I would have guessed he was mid-twenties, post grad, something like that.

I'm a terrible guess at age lol and I'm glad you said you were sarcastic, all this Miles hate is making me exhausted, I actually was thinking there was another one that I forgot about!
I'd much rather have him redeem himself or be like a master planner working behind the scenes manipulating people like chess similar to the Riddler in Batman: Hush.

Well he is the only surviving major player involved in the creation of the Spider clones.

Okay, I gotcha.
I kind of like the first option. As for the second, I dunno. He always seemed like he was in it for the science and personal gain and never struck me as being a behind-the-scenes manipulator sort of guy.
On the other hand, his appearances total up to maybe six or seven issues with not a whole lot of dialogue, so there's definitely room for character development in pretty much any direction. It's just not something I would have considered.

We never found out what happened to Gyrich and Web, or any of the rest of the personnel involved in that project for that matter. Who knows what they are up to? Nothing beats a vast nebulous conspiracy.
Edit: On the other hand I could be wrong. Were they apprehended by SHIELD? I need to go take another look I guess.

Maybe he's related to this Miles guy somehow? I mean, how did Miles get his powers? Perhaps Ben Reilly injected him with Peter's DNA to save his life or something. I think he will definitely make a return, however. As a good guy? Perhaps, but I'd much rather seem him as a new villain, rather than Norman Osbourne once again rising from the grave. I still can't figure out how he came back last time :/

he could become the scarlet spider, wearing the costume, as he could be experimenting with parkers blood and something could go wrong.
the OZ in parkers DNA could send him crazy due being incompatible with his biology but he could inherit parkers powers.
he could then, in his deluded state, believe he is the true successor to being spider-man and make it his mission to become spiderman by taking Miles out and taking his place.
and there we have a supervillian.

Ben Reilly: supervillain. Ben Reilly: Miles' father. so far we have confirmation that his mother is puerto rican, no news on his father though, except that he's black. with Reilly's access to Peter's DNA, it could explain Miles' powers. I wouldn't put tampering with his own kid's genetic structre past him.
EDIT: he could even be the Ultimate Jackal.

So you think all black people are related?

Well I originally would have brushed off the idea of Reilly being Miles' father simply because Reilly himself, to me, looked to be in his mid 20's, maybe early 30's at the most. However, since we learned that Miles is 13 years old it is quite possible that he is Reilly's son. Ben Reilly could be, say, 33; making Mile's born when he was 20. Seems young to have a kid but in this day and age I've seen high school kids have their own babies already.
It could very well be that they had the kid together, and either split up or never even married (why he has his monthers last name, and not Reilly). Miles could have visited daddy at work one day a few months ago and messed around with his blood samples, resulting in him getting Peters' DNA mixed with his own, and viola; Spider-Morales. Reilly might not even know his son has Spider-Powers.

I think he's either he's estranged father or another relative. My theory is that miles is sick and Ben uses some of Peter's unique DNA to cure him, perhaps without Miles knowledge. Ala he get's a derivative of Peter's powers perhaps with a few changes.

I used the same math that Balfro did. seemed like a pretty good idea to me. I'm a teen, and I KNOW kids years younger than me so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for him to have had Miles when he was 20 and abandoning the mother (which is why his last name is Morales, like someone else stated). if anything, the age can be tweaked a little. how old are the Fantastic Four...? I think its been changed like 3 times.
