Fellow San Diego resident Marisa and I have talked about some sort of informal Hellboy get-together outside of ComicCon. Wondering how many Hellboarders will be in town for the convention? And if so, would you be game for something like that? Throwing out ideas -- perhaps dinner or drinks where we could gather and discuss all things Hellboy-related, flaunt our cool collectibles and collections, etc. What do y'all think?

that it makes the print less exclusive...
It doesn't make this print less exclusive 'though. The 'image availability' maybe, but the print in its size and color quality will be limited to its limit, of 150.
I think it's gorgeous, so it seems August has a date with me.

So I'm a long-time lurker, have only posted a few times, but I thought I'd get some feedback on this and see what you guys thought. I had a friend try and get one of the prints for me, but he missed out. He was told that they go on sale tomorrow between 8-9 AM west coast time tomorrow. He didn't say whether this was a reliable source or not. Can you guys shed any light on this? Will be available through Mike's site? I've never gotten one straight from the source! Thanks guys!
PS I know the release info said August but I just want to double-check.

I'm glad I didn't go this year. Lines, crazy people, more lines, money...not for me, unless I'm able to score a pro badge next year. :P
I do have good news, though. My cousins are there, and they've scored me the two Zarana figures from the Hasbro Toy Shop. On top of all that, our very own David Petersen's Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard won an Eisner for Best Anthology of the year!!! Why is nobody crapping their pants about that over here?!?!
Read it. It's good shit.

I arrived late to the HB/BPRD panel and didn't take notes, but it seemed like there is going to be a lot of things happening with Abe. Scott and Mike were fairly tightlipped as usual about future developments, but I got the impression there's major stuff going on with Abe. They said there would be more one-shots or miniseries involving our favorite fish-man.
Not sure if this is news, but they also mentioned a Lobster Johnson -- "Year One" type series was in the works.
Anyone else remember anything? Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet anybody; had to rush off to another panel.
Tyler Crook seems like a nice guy. Very young -- I'd guess he's in his mid-twenties. I also went to a Dave Stewart panel, and he seems like a really nice guy as well -- in addition to obviously being very talented.

I met Tyler at WonderCon and I also got the impression that he's a pretty good guy. I do know he's been married for 13 years, so he may not be in his mid-twenties. However, no one minds being thought of as a 25 year old, so I think you're safe there.

I really wish I'd heard more from Tyler about his role in the series. It was touched on a bit, mostly asking how he got along with MM, but I really would have liked him to discuss his process for creating the works for the series.

Yeah, it's a shame. I felt sure there'd be be some interesting news given that it was a one-hour panel, but nothing. We've known about the upcoming Abe stuff for a long time (there's a three-issue mini coming up) and the Lobster Johnson stuff we've literally known about for years. Oh well.

Tonci Zonjic on LoJo = epicly fantastic news.
Very reminiscent an art-maker of like Zaffino and Mignola so, he seems a great addition.
Just like Tyler Crook or Dave Johnson for covers seem great and welcome additions to me.
Although a new writer? Huh!? A non-Mignola writer? Like M. Moorcock or something? Or Haruki Murakami? Chuck Palahniuk? Stephen King? Or who else would be alive and writing?
Plus it's great to hear that Corben and Fegredo will be staying on, both as Davis or Severin hopefully.
It's only the second time for me to see and hear mr. Scot Allie at work. It seems so great that he'd be this comic-lovin' enabler, turning publishing budgets into great new comics. Popular comics but also real horror comics containing adult-like or whoa!-type-of-stuff. Really excellent I'd think.
(One of these days mr. Allie should be getting like a nod or cameo thing in a Mignola-book. Like someone in the background, probably called 'Curly' or something, with getting to say something blunt or snappy yet tremendously appropriate.)

So, quite a bit of news actually! To recap:
We already knew this, but Mike Mignola is doing a short follow up to the Hellboy in Mexico story in Dark Horse Presents.
Duncan Fegredo is doing a BPRD story (and doing the cover too).
Joe Querio is drawing a Lobster Johnson story for Dark Horse Presents. (Check out his work at http://forkscrawl.deviantart.com/)
The Burning Hand #1 will come out in January.
After The Burning Hand there will be more Lobster Johnson in the form of one shots and short two-issue minseries.
There's a new BPRD project in the works by a new writer.
There will be multiple BPRD projects coming out in a single month in 2012.
The Devil Does Not Jest and Other Stories trade will come out in February (I may have heard the date wrong, I am very, very, very tired right now).
There is a lot more for Abe Sapien in the future. After The Devil Does Not Jest the series will shift from being a flashback series to being set parallel in time with the ongoing BPRD stories. There are no plans for anymore flashback stories.
Duncan is (or will be) working on an original Hellboy graphic novel like House of the Living Dead.
There's no Witchfinder for a while. The next chapter of Sir Edward Grey's life doesn't really need to be told right now.
So, it's a lot of the other universe stuff. MM even said 2012 is gonna be a big year for Hellboy, even though there won't be much Hellboy coming out.
Querio's stuff looks good!

I was reading that Duncan Fegredo's BPRD story is gonna be in Dark Horse Presents. However, Mike's Hellboy story will be coming out in DHP as will Joe Querio's Lobster Johnson story two months later, with Duncan's BPRD in between. I was under the impression that DHP was bimonthly. Is it shifting to monthly now?

It is indeed. This ought to be interesting.

This is from the article CBR has up full of spoilers for Hellboy: The Fury #3, although this particular fragment has nothing to do with those spoilers. Actually it's about Abe. MM elaborates a bit on the future of the Abe Sapien series that he mentioned at SDCC:
I can say this because we mentioned it on the panel, but another thing that's happening is that in Guy (Davis's) last issue of B.P.R.D., we saw Abe Sapien get shot to pieces, and as a result of his injuries, things are going to happen with that character. And I sheepishly asked John Arcudi whether it was okay to remove him – not right away but eventually – but to start sliding him out of the regular B.P.R.D. book and let him have his own story for a while. Part of this is just that logistically, so much is going on in this world that having just one book makes it really difficult to show a wide range of what's happening in the world. So to have Abe go off and see a part of the world that the regular B.P.R.D. doesn't see, we get a little more range from that as far as the global disasters building. Scott Allie and I have written or are writing a few one-shots or two-issue mini series here and there that will be B.P.R.D. stories running parallel with the regular book to again show what's happening here or there. So there's a lot going on, and it is very much The Year of B.P.R.D., and my Hellboy book will be coming before too long.
I guess this is really going to change the format of the Abe Sapien stories for a while. I'm actually hoping the series will gain an ongoing artist. It would certainly set the stories apart from the ones that preceeded it.

This is the Con print I had framed for a friend for Xmas. I decided to go with 2 frames, 1 for the print and 1 for the COA, but do matching frames (color & wood) and UV filtering anti-glare glass. I think it turned out pretty well; I used a white mat with a reverse bezel cut to create a shadow edge line, so the eye goes from the frame to line to dark of the print. For mine I might do something a bit different.
