Space Battleship Yamato Live Action Movie Review

I watched the live action version of Space Battleship Yamato and found it to be an exciting movie. The action was good and the effects for the Yamato were pretty cool. They even used parts of the old theme song. The acting was top notch also in this. I saw it with English subtitles. The funny thing about the movie is the song used in the end of it is in English.

Has anyone else seen this yet?

I'm looking forward to an opportunity to see it, I've heard nothing about when it'll get around to the States. Probably have to wait for a DVD release, and hope that it gets brought over... otherwise, gonna have to get an import, and that ain't always easy (or cheap).

I just hope there´s good acting.

Some japanese actors really need to stop with the dramatic poses and outbursts, throwing your hands in the air and screaming, it completely takes me out of the movie.

It´s live action, guys, not Naruto.

AEROSMITH did the sound track? That's... I don't even know HOW to feel about that, certainly unexpected as hell

I thought Aerosmith only did the ending theme.

Finally saw this today and let me say I was impressed. The way they updated source material that was some 30+ years old was astounding. Yes it did kinda sorta look like a Japanese version of BSG with all the muted colours and the shakey cam, but it fit well.

The ending theme was kind of jarring though. It felt weird to sit through a 2+ hour movie in Japanese (with subtitles) and and orchestral score and then listen to a Hollywood-style pop song sung by Steven Tyler.
