I'm sorry if this has been addressed in other forums, but I was wondering if it has been stated that this revamp/reboot/renumbering is actually taking place on what has been called New Earth, or the current continuity that we have been following? Or this just a focus on one of the 52 (52 reboots?) earths that have been discovered within the past few years, with New Earth continuing on with their current story lines, while DC spends time with this Earth's storylines?

I'd love to help, but DC's confused things so much I don't even know. They've effectively made it so old readers can no longer assist new readers in understanding what's going on, because we don't know any better than anyone else at the moment.

This reboot affects the 'real' DC universe, otherwise known as New Earth, the primary location where all DC Universe stories take place.

There has been no mention of any of the fift-two alternate earths.

Is is possible they have not revealed this yet? It could explain some of the more drastic changes.

I am not sure about the involvement of the 52 alternate earths, I think however that they are going to be written out. Dc is trying to make things less confusing so I believe they will consolidate it. The driving force of the changes will be flashpoint.

My opinion, for what little it's worth, is that this has to take place on a different earth. The solicitation for Action Comics #1 poses the question of will society be afraid of it's first super-hero leaving the assumption that Superman will be the first super hero to appear in this timeline. That leaves the JSA completely out of the picture?
DC's insistence that this is just a slight "jiggering" (as Judd Winnick called it) is less slight than they want us to believe. It might be slight for the Batman world and the Green Lantern Corps, but for the rest of the DCU it looks to be fairly full out. The Teen Titans are meeting for the first time, Supergirl doesn't share her cousin's love for earth people, Cyborg appears to be one of the original seven of the JLA, all instance of the W/P era New Teen Titans seems to no longer exist, the Blackhawks now operate in modern times...just to name a few.
But again, that's just my opinion.

ALL stories that "matter" take place on New Earth. Simply put.
