Which women should Join the JLA

OK so we have a Big 7 and Diana is a shoe in.
There are reports of a Dark JLA starring Vixen.

There are apparently 14 slots on the new JLA so I am imagining at least 3 more women. Who do you want to make the cut ?

Poll attached - I am limited to 15 options so am leaving out some of the deceased (Maxima, Crimson Fox) and some others (Tomorrow Woman, Faith, Moon Maiden, Ice Maiden, Civet, Hippolyta). Nevertheless am sure that Barda and the New Gods will be back soon.
We probably will have a new JLI starring Fire, Ice and Power Girl ( so am leaving them off the list too).
I know many of the generational heroes (Donna, Supergirl, Jade etc.) are very [I]iffy[I] but I am including them.

with the knowledge that vixen is in the jli book, i voted for Mera, Hawkwoman and Starfire

i would have more than 3, if there are 14 slots, 10 men and 4 women is hardly diverse. but maybe thats just me?

the reason i picked the characters, Johns clearly has a deep love for Mera, and she isnt just the same as Aquaman, she has her own powerset and her own personality.

Starfire, brings a lot of firepower, and allows for some diversity-shes an alien-in my head, i kinda always imagine her as a huge amazonian black woman-i know a lot of dcs aliens look "white" but i always saw her body and facial structure more as a black woman.

and Hawkwoman-i would prefer without hawkman, due to power duplication. i had a thing where if dc is making a concious effort to increase diversity within their comics(and about time!)then why not make hawkman and hawkwoman people who arent white? why when they regenerate do they always end up white? their origins date back to ancient egypt, so why not have this reflected if we are doing a little retconning?

i would have also voted for, but couldnt due to the vote constraints, Dr Light, Batwoman, the Question and Raven.

Actually none of them.There are at least 3 potential team ups here that would be much cooler on their own and not dragged down by mulitiple JL/JLA titles.

Wonder Woman has led Maxima before in the JLA (After Superman died) but Maxima followed Capt. Atom to Extreme Justice when he and Diana butted heads. Well Maxima has been gone a decade (unless she came back somewhere I didn't know)- don't think we will see her again soon.

Also I created the poll a few hours before the JLI lineup with Vixen was announced (would have put someone else in her place).

So far Zatanna is undoubtedly in the lead with Dinah not far behind; Vixen and Dr. Light follwing, and Hawkwoman in 5th spot.

Ok, these were my votes, and prior picks... but if I had the chance to answer again, my current pick would be very different.

* Black Canary would no longer be eligible because she's with the new Birds of Prey (she's the only original character that remained);

* Vixen is no longer eligible either, because she's with the JLI;

* That leaves only Zatanna.... and she's the one of my three picks that I like the least.

If I had to pick other three characters instead, they'd be:

* Huntress

* Big Barda

Those three are fine... Power Girl and Big Barda are powerhouses on par with Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern. And Huntress isn't being used in the new BOP, it seems... so, she's available.

Maxima could always be brought back to life because of the reboot.

I'd love to see Wonder Woman, Maxima, Star Sapphire, Mera, Zatanna, Vixen and Black Canary form their own Justice League. Later, they would expand and include Powergirl, Huntress, Dr. Light, Starfire, and Miss Martian join. :biggrin:

I also picked those three. if Hawkwoman is in the league though I may well leave Carter out of it, cause they're both pretty similar but I think there's enough variation in Arthur and Mera's abilities to have them both on the team. Then again it would be interesting to see the dynamic of two couples working together same time. As for Starfire, she's got interesting powers and personality so I'd jus like to see more of her.

If JLI wasn't happening, I'd like to see some second-stringers like Fire and Ice mix it up with the big names.

I've never been sold on the premise of a 'big 7' or 'big 3' when it comes to team books. As popular as that idea has been in the last decade, I still think a mix of A-listers and B-listers who otherwise don't have a book is best.

I dunno. Maybe try Hawk and Dove on the team or something like that.

I suspect they might want to add a Wildstorm character or two, since J'onn is mixed into their world now. (Though I hope not) However, if that's the case, I'd go with one of the more likable Gen 13 women, rather than using grim and gritty lady character X from Wildcats or somewhere.

COMPLETELY AGREE. Kwai is very cool and unique character. She is centuries old mystic warrior with a wide range of powers and fighting skills. Skyrocket should def be in the JL or otherwise Stormwatch. These are 2 great female characters with alot of potential.

My votes went to Dr Light, Mera and Big Barda.

Dr. Light would not only bring ethnic diversity to the team but in the absence of the Atom she could be the resident scientist. Plus, she kicks ass when written well.

Mera could bring a familiar sensibility that was missing from the JL since the days of Elongated Man and Sue Dibny. I'm not saying that the dynamics should be the same (we're talking about two underwater warriors and a detective and his spunky wife), but I think it would add something that's usually missing from the JL.

Big Barda is just bad ass. She's big, she's smart and she's a fierce warrior. Imagine the possibilities of an very experienced Barda sparing with a very young Wonder Woman and actually defeating her only to make WW better.

I still see people choosing Zatanna though, but she's already in JL Dark, so she wouldn't be on this team.

She’s a good character with interesting powers and ties to magic and government who’s been living on the fringes since she joined the DCU with the first Crisis. After being in Suicide Squad and Shadowpact, she’s definitely ready for a shot at the big time.
