I just saw this movie last night. Disturbing and dark. I never really thought about mental illness quite so closely, and I'm ashamed to admit that I never cared to understand it either. The theater was a small one, and there were probably only 8 or 10 patrons.
One woman kept laughing at things that were happening on the screen, and all I could think was "How the hell can you find that funny? What's wrong with you?" Not that there weren't a couple of places where there were a few laughs to be had, but watching a man literally beat himself up with a hand puppet wasn't one of them. Thank god she finally shut up in the climactic scene, which was fairly horrifying.
I recommend this movie. Perhaps not for a theater visit, but certainly for the home view. Maybe you'll get a little bit of insight out of it like I did.

You're the person who saw it, huh?

What can I say, I still think Jodie Foster is a fox.

Wait, I can get away with using the phrasing "fox," can't I? Don't I get a grandfather clause on that one?

It's release was very limited if I'm informed correctly so it's hardly fair to say noone watched it. It's also apparently quite good, I'm looking forward to catching it.
And yes, Jodie Foster is a ridiculous hottie, especially in Maverick.

If Mel hadn't gone off like a nuke, this would have opened last year and would have made some Academy waves this past February. As it is, it's unlikely to be considered next year. But yeah, it's quite good.

Bwahahahahahahahaha.............................
I laughed at just reading the part about a guy beating himself with a puppet.

I'm sure you would have howled with laughter at the climactic scene.

I had heard Mel was very good in it. Foster was asked why she casted him with all his trouble and she said he deserved his chance here. That he wasn't doing movie roles for money or glory. Just pride basically and wanting to do it.
Personally I think Mel's fanbase would come back BIG for a Lethal Weapon V .

This movie was shot over 2 years ago, not sure "all his trouble" was quite that troubling at that time. It was almost ready for release when Mel went ballistic last year.

I heard this was good, but that was it. So, it's about mental illness? Guess that's another film I can't see in the cinema.

What????
Adult mental patients don't play with puppets. Only perfectly normal people do.

Like I said, the only thing I knew about this movie was that it was supposed to be good.

You sir, have great taste in classy women!
I don't believe I'll be seeing the movie in the theaters but I will buy it on DVD.

Unless there are serious changes of heart anytime soon, Hollywoodland and its executives would never allow it. Ever.

Yep, they sure stopped supporting Roman Polanski when he had sex with a child and then fled the country to avoid punishment.
The movie folks does what makes it money, that is it's only concern and if people will pay to see a Lethal Weapon V (they wouldn't regardless of Mel), they'll make it.
