View Full Version : The Mutant Question

How exactly has the mutant gene in the Ultimate Universe spread as much as it has? We all know Wolverine was mutant zero so did he have a child with some woman and it went from there? Did they put the gene in the water? Were towns crop dusted like a field of corn? (not actual theories, none of those really make sense) I'm really curious how the mutant population seemingly suddenly popped up after Wolverine was created because by the time Magneto and Xavier were born, there already was a small but rising mutant population that Magneto seemed to quickly find out about and they both must be in their 50's to 60's.

If there's no clear answer, anyone care to share their theory?

Nick Spencer said we'd find out at the beginning of Ultimate X-Men.

Hopefully this will give Spencer an opportunity to answer and dwell deeper into the mutant situation and characters.

What was ever the problem with Geldoff? Thinking back I don't see why he's a joke to everyone.

From what I've heard he's apparently a big joke in the Ultimate community. I would like to see him too.

That would be sweet. But if he were to come back and a new spidey takes over, I see them confronting each other as a "first superhero battle".

My theory is: the mutant gene of Wolverine mutated like an aerial virus, it would explain how Erik Lensherr would be the second mutant discovered (he was the child of a Weapon X's genetician in Ultimate Origins).

It would explain why there are more mutants in USA/Canada than in the rest of the world.

The Wolverine's healing factor can be a good reason of the durability of the mutant gene.

I just figured Wolverine got around

That would mean he slept with his grand-daughter (or great grand-daughter) when he was with Jean...

At the time, he was hyped as being the beginning of a new big story that was going to spread over the entire Ultimate Universe. Nothing ever came out of this, and the character disappeared completely.
