Just thinking....

Ultimate Thor shows the death of asgard by the hands of the frost giants and nazi's and loki

Ultimates 2 ends with the forces of asgard coming to the rescue of america. (lol, not earth, but america)

Thor and Baldur are mortals reborn (end of ultimate thor) (though thor might not be post death) Loki was a still a god...

Asgard lives on in Thor and the Mjölnir

question:

What, why and how did asgard come to exist again?

I think this will be explained in Ultimate Fallout. I'm still very confused on the whole Thor and Asgard situation. I'll be reading through Ultimate Thor again soon, so hopefully I'll get a better understanding of it.

Loki was imprisioned in the room without doors shortly before the fall of Asgard, so he was not killed, (in a sense) and was therefore not reborn later as a mortal. Instead, he was set free from the room by one of his followers using the norn stones. Because he hadn't been through the whole 'death' - rebirth process like the other Gods, he still had his powers.

I'm hoping we'll get to see the story of how Asgard is re-made in another Thor mini sometime in the not too distant future. There's a fairly large gap timeline wise between the end of Ultimate Thor/begining of Ultimates and the end of Ultimates 2 for this story to take place in. The panels from Fallout also show some Asgard activity, so hopefully we'll find some answers there too.

That said, they're gonna have a hard time explaining how Thor killed the Migard Serpent in Ultimates, (doesn't show it, but he mentions it to Fury) without his true powers

Yeah some of the stuff doesn't really work out that well...

For example, in The Ultimates 1, when Fury and Banner went to see Thor in Norway, he claimed to have powers (and he probably did, he "read" Banner's mind) and offered to demonstrate his powers with the Mjolnir to prove his Godhood. Well then, isn't he sort of lying then? He shouldn't have any innate powers right then because he was reborn as a mortal, and all his powers should come from his equipment.

I dont know but i remember someone talking about rebuilding Asgard. I wonder if this Asgard still protects the nine realms. It seems like theyre more about Earth then anything else.

The powers he demonstrated did come from the equipment, as 'Mjolnir' is used to summon the lightning. As for 'reading' Banner's mind, he could just have been bullshitting. Or maybe even at that stage his powers had started to return somewhat.

As far as the lies go, in Thor's mind, he is still a God, even though he knows full well he's been re-born as a mortal. And if he's going to claim God-hood, he can hardly admit his powers are technology based. 'I'm a God, watch this' is a lot more impressive than 'I'm a God really, I've just lost my power's and now have to rely on this equipment. Honest'.

What is really annoying is how Magneto stole Mjolnir in Ultimates 3. It annoyed me when he controlled it in Ultimate War, but thanks to Hickman thats been sorted. 'Its got some iron in it' really isn't a reason why Magneto should have more control over the genuine Mjolnir than Thor.

Hickman can sort this continuity mess out in an entertaining way if he's given enough time.

This SNAFU is one of the best examples of why Marvel Editorial needs to do a better job of coordinating continuity in a shared universe.

It starts being a serious distraction when following the stories.

Midgard Serpent - I think he said he was fighting it not killing it.

Flamer - Mags with the hammer the first time was badbut then they had Colossus beating the snot out of the same guy who held off the Ultimates and the Euro Ultimates without even trying to kill them - I'm sure Ultimate Colostomy could have done that - so clearly Thor was brought in to job.

The second time was one of the most nauseating things ever - "the hammer has a little iron in it" - yeah well it's got a LOT of MAGIC ALL OVER IT.

I am confused by this too. Also did Thor ever get his real powers back or does he still get his powers from the belt and the other equipment? If he got his real powers back when and how did that happen?

I actually loved the movies take on this. "Your ancestors called it magic, you call it sciene. I come from a place were those 2 are the same"

IMO this would indicate that Thors powers have always been dependant on his gear (hammer/armor), but of course Asgard "science" makes it looks like magic to us

Also Hickman needs to expand on the Thor mini. With the same artist. There are a lot of gaps in Ultimates 1/2 that can easily be filled. Doesnt need to be a ongoing series like USM, but if Hickman can pull of a Thor mini once a year I will be satisfied
