Hey, I just realized this is the first thread I've made in the Ultimate Boards, neato!

Anyways, for all the devoted fans of Ultimate Spider-Man, which has been your favorite story arc in the (currently) entire 155 issue history?

I would have to say the arc Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. I really liked this arc because it focused more on Peter and his group of friends and what being a teen is kinda like in the Ultimate-verse. I liked seeing how Liz first reacted to having powers after being anti-mutant for so long and then the eventual arrival of Magneto towards the end.

Probably the Clone Saga or Learning Curve (first Kingpin arc). Clone Saga was just so epic. By far, it was Bendis's most ambitious story yet, and it did so much cool stuff. Ultimate Spider-woman is one of the best things to happen to this book. And the Kingpin arc was absolutely hilarious, while also doing a great job teaching Peter a lot about how to live his double life.

I remember really liking the Amazing Friends arc, too, but I haven't gotten there yet on my reread. I loved that Peter actually started having a good life with some solid friends that all knew he was Spider-man. I thought that was a great dynamic for the book.

man theres so many I liked it would actually be easier to say the ones I didnt

Arcs I hated:
carnage (would have liked it but gwen died)
I also didn't like War of the Symbiotes (it was just a lazy arc and the way gwen was explained to come back to life is just weird)

that was pretty much it the rest were good

everything after ultimate comics 15 has had some slow transitioning but I dont hate them yet....

I agree with you about the Clone Saga completely. I was a little hesitant when I came to that arc simply because I didn't hear anything good about it and because of the original clone saga being confusing as well, but this definitely was Bendis at his best and wrote one of the most memorable Spider-Man stories I've ever read. It was perfect what he did with Doc Ok being the one who made the clones which made things come full circle with him and also realizing that his power was controlling metal, not the arms. It put a great Ultimate spin on him that mad him stand out as a character. Finding out that Richard Parker was in fact an aged clone was heartbreaking but very well done. I really believed he was Peter's father for a while.

Another great thing it did was really flesh out the relationship between Peter and Fury and finding out that Peter looks up to him as a father figure which was great and made sense. In a way it set up what is to come in Death of Spider-Man and showing that Nick has a contingency plan for everything. Of course, since Nick is on the Avengers now I suppose it doesn't have a lot of connection now, but you can see there's something there. It was a very maturing moment for Peter as a person and as a superhero I believe.

I really liked the "Irresponsible" arc. I thought it was a great read. This arc had a little bit of everything. Peter first meets with the X-Men, he has costume troubles, Peter and MJ clear some things up, and Aunt May visits therepy. The X-Men guest appearence was interesting and Peter's costume grief was hilarious. Aunt May coming clean about about her struggles with the deaths of friends and family was excellent; it really put things into perspective.

This is a tough one... it's between Learning Curve, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, and Irresponsible. Those are all great ones. I haven't reread Spiderman and his Amazing Friends or the Clone Saga yet though, so those could be up there.

I love the arcs when he battles his personal problems rather than huge enemies for the most part.

The Clone Saga. Hobgoblin was also really well done in my opinion.

The worst arc is probably Ultimatum or that one where he has three team-ups; one with wolverine, human torch, and dr.strange. The wolverine story was pretty good but as an arc mehh.

Honorable mentions:
Ultimate Six. Learning Curve. Silver Sable.

(Does that count? If not Double Trouble because that was the story that got me into comics. After that Death of a Goblin, I love emotional bullsh-t like that.)

Does Ultimate Six count?

If not, I'd go probably go with the Ultimatum arc. I thought the Hulk/Spidey team-up was excellent and with the death of Peter Parker being a strong possiblity, the arc felt very tense and epic. I also love the development of JJJ in this arc, the harrowing image of him watching Spidey saving people gave chills down my spine.

Other great arcs were Venom, Learning Curve, Double Trouble and the Clone Saga.

Ultimate Six, though personally I don't count that as much of a spidey arc, it features his villains and the Ultimates more than Spidey himself heh.

I do like War of the Symbiotes (though I liked the way the game handled it better) and Double Trouble and Hollywood are great too.

There are so many superb stories from Ultimate Spider-Man.

A few that come to mind are the first Kingpin arc, as well as the arc where Doctor Octopus kidnaps Peter. He winds up in Jersey (can't remember the name of the arc).

Gotta say, I didn't much care for the Venom arc. I like Venom, I like Brock, but I felt it was too much build up and not enough Venom. I loved the Black Suit spidey ish. Great dialogue and just a great issue, but there was too much exposition on the creation of the suit and the motivations behind it for me to really enjoy it. One of the reasons I dig the video game's plotso much. It (and War of the Symbiotes) gave me the Venom story I was Kraven (sorry bad pun =P).

My Favourite Ultimate Spider-man arc will always be the opening first series arc, which revitalized Spider-man and was more Amazing and Spectacular than anything in the 616

Power and Responsibility

I have never been a fan of anything Brian Michael Bendis has written so I kept avoiding this for the longest of times. After finishing "The Spectacular Spider-Man" cartoon I was desperate for a Spider-Man fix and eventually read it.

I was blown away I still don't think that any Ultimate Spider-Man arc can even come close to it. For me Bendis simply nailed Spider-Man in this opening arc.

I've always been a sucker for the original Venom arc. I especially loved that splash page of Peter breaking free of the symbiote and all the faces of his friends, family, and people he's encountered are in the background.

I really enjoyed the ultimatum arc if only for the interactions between spidey and hulk, I also really dug the arc when he first interacts with black cat, I think its the kingpin arc you guys are talking about. Also the opening arc was awesome really set the tone for the whole idea of ultimate marvel, or at least what it used to be....still better than 616
