View Full Version : Is the FF more powerful than the Avengers now?

Question explains it all. How powerful is Franklin these days anyway? With the expanded membership that includes the two Richards kids and Sue, FF may just be the mightiest right? Of course not sure if they can take the x-men numbers but then again if Franklin is still as powerful as I remember the last time I read the book, that won't matter I guess.
And since I got this started, I am assuming the X-Men still are more powerful than the Avengers with both Magneto and Prof X in the team?

Rulk alone is more powerful than the newly minted FF.

The FF always have been more powerful.
No, that's not missing a "than." Sue punched a hole in a Celestial, once. And, she and her husband fed their grandson to Galactus.

Interesting. I can buy that Sue is more powerful than Iron Man but how about Hulk or Magneto. Marvel always chickens out when it comes to the Hulk and never lets anyone else beat him in a first, even Sentry I think right ?

She could just trap him actually, if she really put all her energy into it. Same with Magneto if she put a force field around herself.

Yeah, but if he thought hard enough Franklin could make him go away like he did with Mephisto. But I think he's still too young for Reed to put him in harm's way, and I mean the harm he could have happen to him and his not fully realizing the harm he can do to others. Franklin shot a toy gun at Osborn and it wounded him in the shoulder.
I think the Avengers probably outpower the FF though with Iron Man, Thor and Ms Marvel being there. It's the wild card of the children that can make things interesting...and whether or not the as yet unrevealed secret members will be Doom and She Hulk.

I remember Zeus beat Hulk badly in IH 622.

If the X-Men still had Jean Grey possessing the Phoenix Force with them, and the Avengers the Scarlet Witch, then all three teams would have mutants with tremendous reality-warping powers; but having the potential is one thing, and having the mental ability to properly channel that power is another. I agree with IM about Reed not putting Franklin up front on missions, not without Leech anyway just in case. Or maybe his missions will be limited to help monitoring situations at the Baxter Building, but time will tell.

Hickman already confirmed She-Hulk's participation here (http://marvel.com/news/story/15272/thursday_qa_jonathan_hickman), though it may be more due to her law skills than her physical strength, but I can see them needing that as well. As for Doom… as much as I was apprehensive at first about him being a secret member, recent developments in Latveria and the deal with Val have me slowly warming up to the idea.

I don't know about that. Thor could have teleported Rulk away, but instead got beaten or something with his own hammer and got left on the Moon for his trouble, or some nonsense like that. And, the Watcher could have teleported his own ass outta the way of Rulk's punch, but Rulk > teleportation. I mean, this is a reality-bending character that pulled a golden pistol out of his own ass and blew a perennial Hulk villan to smithereens in less time than it takes to microwave a Hot Pocket.

What side are Thing and Spidey playing on?
Really though, it's going to come down to Reed doing something wacky with science vs. the sheer number and power of the Avengers. Yeah, Sue punched a hole in a Celestial, but that's because her powers are made of Celestial. And it's not like Thor hasn't gone toe to toe with them.
I mean, look who the Avengers are packing. Thor, Dr. Strange, Wonder Man, Quasar, Nova in theory when he turns out to be alive, Iron Man, Valkyrie, Protector, Namor, Human Torch (the not dead one), Moondragon, Ms. Marvel, Starfox, Monica, Darkhawk, Justice, Firestar, Crystal... that's some freakin' heavy hitting. And that's just a fraction. And then you have Hank Pym and Amadeus Cho along with Tony to out think Reed.

they may not be the more powerful but certainly the most dangerous due to always holding back. Sue, and Reed have a well of untapped potential power set-wise, while franklins a ticking time bomb.

Yeah but remember the level of reality warper that Franklin has shown in the past. The kid created a pocket dimension with a planet fully stocked with flora, fauna and millions of people. He could simply shuttle him away. The Watcher has never been known to take aggressive action so that's like beating on a puppy. Even million year old Doom killed a Watcher.

Yeah, but Franklin can't willfully do that. It just happens.

I'm guessing the OP is referring to the Bendis adjectiveless Avengers and not inactive members. It would be interesting to see Parker choose up sides on that one.

Even then, with Thor, Iron Man, Protector (who is pretty crazy powerful)... look, the FF are more likely to pull a crazier deus ex machina out of their butts, but otherwise, too much power and numbers on the Avengers.

And The Rulk ends up in his own private universe for trying to bother the kid, Hopefully one about the size of a phone booth, A sad way to get rid of the Rulk character is all that it would be

If Rulk can magically make his own mustache disappear (and still create devoted followers), then I'm pretty sure dimension-hopping isn't beyond him.

Yeah I was only refering to the membership limited to the current 3 books (I did not include YA but I guess they can be called upon too). But I forgot abt Dr Strange who I guess can be a good counter to Franklin.

How fast do you guys think Franklin could kill Mockingbird?
Or are we not talking about the New Avengers? Because the Thing could probably eat all of the New Avengers in a giant sandwich (except Luke Cage maybe, but Reed could just block his airways and suffocate him)

Dunno. How fast and what reflexes would a 8 year old kid have in a fight? Chances are any of the Avengers could probably rush up to him and snap his neck before he could react and use his powers.

Spider-man has never been a member of the FF. Even Cage had a short stint as a FF member when the Thing lost his powers.

It's a historical fact that making your mustache disappear has little tactical value. Growing a mustache, on the other hand, well... ask Robert Mugabe.

I know everyone that looks at him must see that its a Hitler 'tache' that he has yet no one is seemingly brave enough to say it.

Warren Ellis had Wolverine call it out in the midst of his very skewed Astonishing lecture about "African leaders." He tethered it directly to Mugabe's "let me be a Hitler tenfold" ignoring that Mugabe, in that same speech, clarified that he was responding to his critics calling him a Hitler and redefining it to mean lots of positive things. One assumes he knew the power of that bit of facial adornment, though.
