Just a thought. Assuming Marvel gets back the rights to the X-franchise sometime this decade, and assuming they exploit them to their fullest extent... do you think they'd ever consider using the crazy Christian fundamentalists that have caused so much pain for the X-teams over the past few years? Are the comics not politically correct enough for the big screen, or is any publicity good publicity?

If Marvel ever gets their rights back maybe. I don't think they would have a problem with the Purifiers in an anime or video game. And religious fundamentalism is a major issue these days. though They would probably tone down the christian factor though.

I would imagine the conservative christian audience wouldn't like it...

Did the conservative Christian audience ever like X-Men in the first place, though?

Hollywood isn't likely to produce movies that conservative christians would embrace in the first place.

Regarding the OP, no. I don't see them going with the purifiers when trying to attract a larger audience than the reader base.

I read this as "Are the Purifiers flammable?"

But, no, I don't see them appearing in any X-Films at all.

They are a lot easier to understand than Mister Sinister or Apocalypse, though.

(Plus those are really stylish cloaks.)

Or the Wolverine:Origins movie for that matter.

And yes, the cloaks are rather nice.

Consider what they did with Rev. Stryker himself in X2: The Last Stand. Any mention of him being a minister? Thrown out. His Purifiers were just military grunts under his command, with no mention of any dogma regarding mutants as abominations in the eyes of their god, as much as they were just a threat to their well-being.

And Hollywood makes it a point to streamline movies to make them as appealing for worldwide audiences as possible, normally. So no, I don't see Disney/Marvel Films going there any time soon.

Although, when you think about it, isn't that basically what The Hunchback of Notre Dame was about?

They are perfect as antagonist for a movie.

It's like nazis in Indiana Jones or droids in star wars, no one care about them so it's cool if the good guys kill hundred of these suckers.
