I like where this could go. I see a modern day take that could work. The tone is what I find pleasing. Some things are over the top maybe, but it's not been put to film yet, so not a problem...and there's NOTHING that I hate about it at all...well...except that so far we see no flying or gliding on air currents (or jumping ala Lynda Carter...I'd settle for any of the three, and they are not exactly NOT mentioned either, given the non-specificness of the fight sequence)

I especially like:

Primarily, she is Wonder Woman, superhero crime fighter in Los Angeles. In a world (and a town) that worships celebrities, she’s the biggest one there is. She is also Diana Themyscira (her “secret identity” is not a secret to the world), the head of Themyscira Industries

and:

Diana Prince. In this identity she pulls a Clark Kent act - she puts in colored contacts and puts on glasses and changes her hair and her body language. This identity serves to help Diana feel more normal and more a part of the world around her, which will clearly be a running theme in the series.

and ESPECIALLY this:

I also liked the portrayal of the culture around Wonder Woman. The first time we meet her she’s chasing a bad guy down Hollywood Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. While she’s chasing a bad guy she’s also being followed by a news helicopter broadcasting the chase live (when I lived in LA, they loved the live broadcast high speed chase on the local news). And when she ends ups finally catching the perp (with her magic lasso, natch) in front of the Kodak Theater, she is swarmed by tourists like she’s the biggest movie star in the world, which in this world, she kind of is.

and maybe most important:

While overall it’s a different take on Wonder Woman, it’s not so out of the realm as to be completely foreign to those familiar with Wonder Woman from the comics or cartoons. There are enough familiar elements that make Wonder Woman who she is that any fears that they are just slapping the Wonder Woman name on a character who is not Wonder Woman are unfounded. The character in this script is clearly Wonder Woman, just filtered through the lens of a modern day comedy/drama/action-adventure/romance

This pitch is beginning to appeal to me despite myself. The comics and the neo-legendary high concept of Wonder Woman are what I value; I was expecting perhaps a comedy of manners draped with a few WW props.

But the way the pilot is described, it seems to want to develop ideas of the social Diana which we only saw with Greg Rucka. It's something I'd watch.

'Social' Diana is intriguing, I have to say. I'm not sure how I feel about Diana being a 'capitalist' (as another reviewer mentioned), but celebrity Wonder Woman? Helicopters and paparazzi? Tourists swarming her like a celebrity? This I dig.

I keep veering from skeptical to cautiously hopeful about this project. Let's see how the actual filming goes, or if the pilot is good enough for them to pick up an entire series.

I think there IS a lot of positive in the script, from what we've heard. But I also think it's important to talk about the bad stuff too, because at this stage of development, changes CAN be made. There's a reason they leaked the script. They want to test the waters and get some feedback. Offering our criticism is a good thing for all involved.

I'll watch it and see but I really don't like when they mess with the character too much. It's why I don't read the book now. "Elements of the character"? That's not good enough for me.

It's possible that by "capitalist" they are simply referring to the fact that she ownes a corporation ....that's all I'm getting. Capitalist isn't a state of mind.

Very good point. I guess it was all the conclusion jumping and Debbie Downer mentality of so many posters that was irritating me. I've been away from the boardsfor a bit and forgot how negative it can be here.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but one of the three is DEFINITELY in there, right towards the beginning of the script.

At this point i am so tired about vampires, werewolves, prequels, remakes and reboots that i am ready to see anything goes from now on. Whatever they made at least please have the balls to finally do it.

I like your positive outlook, Wonderman.

At first, I was a little dismayed that Diana was described as a capitalist...BUT then I realized she was using her profits to fight crime and help people, and her mission of peace. So, really, it's like she's running a nonprofit charity.

I like some of the more humorous, light-hearted aspects. Yet, at the same time, this script has some corny & cheesy stuff that I could certainly live without.

Here's to hoping they've worked some of that stuff out in later drafts of the script.

The fanboy in me is bummed that she won't be wearing the classic costume, but I do like that they at least acknowledge her wearing it (which gives hope we might see it in flashbacks), and if the rest of the show proves to be great, perhaps I won't mind that aspect so much.

All in all, I'll say that -- while it's not perfect -- it has potential. Not exactly my ideal, but hopefully still entertaining and enjoyable. I'm willing to give it a chance.

Yeah I always felt earlier that some of the bad stuff we heard was because of the fact that the people reviewing it hated it and were painting it negatively. You can't judge something by looking at it through someone else's lenses. Not to mention all the script changes this will go through. Also, the interpretation/translation of the script lines to the screen alone could make a lot of difference.

From what very little I know of this script, there is one aspect that seems to be a very mixed baggage for me. On one hand, this Diana seems to have more of a human attitude this is something that has been missing from most versions of WW, and something desperately needed. On the other hand, I think a better way to get some of the internal drama for the character is to play the fish out of water aspect instead of this. We'll see how well it's executed though.

Love your Donna Troy custom!

By the way, have you picked up the 13" Tonner WW? I don't have any pics, but she fits right in with the 13" DC Direct figures.

By the way, my favorite Ep. from the origonal Wonder Woman T.V. show is "The Man That Could Move The World" beacuse of all the Wonder Woman collectables Diana finds at her "stalkers" house. I hope we get shows like that with the new one, and I think we will. I remember reading someware that there would be something to do with Wonder Woman dolls. Or am I thinking about the Wonder Woman dolls all over in the comic? Any way I LOVE when they use collectable's on a show like that!
