Recently, everyone's been talking about this new character, Nightmare, who has appeared on the world's biggest comic book news site. The Internet has been ablaze with praise for her being one of the few young mutants introduced in the X-Men brand to have any kind of depth, and also her deeds as an accomplished mass murderer.
Nightmare bares a striking resemblance to another mutant, Pixie. Acclaimed author of the Ozzy Osbourne biography comic book and creator of Nightmare, Professor Mike Carey, is quick to debunk all rumors of their direct connection. "Possibly related to Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind): DNA comparison was suggestive, but inconclusive," is stated explicitly in Carey's January 20th, 2011 feature, AGE OF X COMMUNIQUÉS: Berserker, Hellion, Nightmare (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30425). Fans of Pixie will be quick to point out Pixie's father is Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind), confirmed on-panel in Pixie's critically-panned limited series, hence the weight of this discrepancy.
Acomplished mass murderer? Why, yes. "It’s known beyond doubt that she served the Carcotti organization as a runner and enforcer," states Professor Carey of his latest creation. "As far as we know, [she] hadn’t killed anyone up to that point. God knows, she’s making up for lost time now." As the saying goes: Being a thug means never having to say you're sorry.
What makes Nightmare tick?
What do cool people like Nightmare do in a world where mutants don't go to high school and mall-babes don't eat chili fries? (Besides get gangsta as f*.)
Will Nightmare pass from the Age of X reality to our own?
If so, who is the next target of this rising star in the criminal underworld? Elektra? Lady Bullseye? Wilson Kisk, AKA: The Kingpin!?
It's all about the salary, it's not about reality. Respect.

Shorty chilling by her whip, flossing with the Detroit lean.
Thank you, CBR, for the unauthorized use of your exclusive Nightmare art borrowed from your exclusive Age of X previews.

Nightmare, I love her. Her next kill should be "l'homme sans peur."

I would absolutely love if Pixie goes a little to the dark side, like this version. She's been getting a little rough recently, with Illyana pushing her over the edge from giddy and happy-go-lucky to disgruntled and sometimes mean. I dig the wings too.
IF she makes it to this reality, she should kill Pixie and take her place. Sorry, Torpor.

"l'homme sans peur."
I'm afraid I'm going to need posters like Kusasan and MartinRedmond to help me out with this.

Sidney already seems way more badass than Rockslide.

I wonder if this is what that massacre is all about.

Yes, none of this Dark Beast-style half-assing.

I wonder if Nightmare is a step towards this evil Pixie. Like the more she kills the more she'll turn into this creature.

Let's forget that ugly-ass thing has anything to do with Pixie.
With Nightmare, Megan Gwynn has gotten an upgrade. That beast is the opposite of an upgrade.
I hope she gets her hands on those russian prostitutes still living on Utopia.

I'd gladly swap Nightmare for Pixie any day of the week

Id swap Age of X for current X-verse any days at least I can actually believe mutants are genuinely under siege, compared to current where SF loves them and they are living off billionaires. She can start by executing prisoners or she could join x-force plenty of opportunity for killing there.

I am not sure this is an impressive feat worthy of accolades even Indra got over that hump.

"L'homme sans peur": The man whithout fear.
And Pixie will certainly turn evil in some way one day or another in 616 reality: it's the destiny of almost all teenagers girls favorites around the X-Men. Jubilee, Blink, Magik, etc.

This would be interesting. It would be pragmatic for Cyclops to send her to these invalids to quench her bloodthirst instead of taking it out on San Franciscans. What a PR nightmare that would be!

He's Nigthmare's BFF. If you're the BFF of a made man or woman, you're doing all right.
"L'homme sans peur": The man whithout fear.Thank you, Klayne. I agree that Black Panther should be killed and Nightmare has the skillset and experience to make that happen. It's very convenient for her, too, since he's in New York City, the seat of power for Marvel's crime underground, and he's not surrounded by the Dora Marmalade anymore.

Do you think that "Nightmare" could be some private joke of Marvel Editors or Carey himself? Because, in her "Communiqué", her demonic nature came with the "Bleeker Street Massacre". And I have found this: a Marvel connection between the other Marvel's Nightmare, Bleecker Street, and Dr. Strange (potential teacher for Pixie since New X-Men 42):

Whoa! That is really cool! Great find, Klayne.
I wonder if it was Carey, as well...

Thank you, Agent Torpor. Coming from you, that means a lot. It's nice to have a brand-new character immediately have this level of appeal and intrigue.

Look at how Nightmare controls the Fortress X social circle in the preview of Age of X: Alpha! She tells it like it is and then makes wet blanket Basilisk go away. Regulate.

This is an excellent point! If that Nightmare is dead, killed in Chaos War, does that make this Nightmare's official designation Nightmare II?

I just saw the previews for next week's comics. Anyone else excited to see Nightmare breaking necks and cashing checks?
