I'm building up a collection of the Ultimate Universe TPBs and noticed that the Ultimate Team-Up TPBs don't have issues 6-8 in them - TPB 1 collects 1-5 and TPB starts at #9.

Any reason why?

I'm sure I noticed that one or two issues or USM are missing from the TPBs, but don't have them to hand to check at the moment.

Can anyone throw any light on the reason for skipping issues in the trades?

It's possible that they decided that 6-8 were too dark and they wanted to keep the books kid friendly. It's unfortunate, because those are hands down the best three issues of the whole series. It was a great Punisher and DD story with amazing art (seriously, some of the best to date in the UU).

You might want to go for the Ultimate Collection (http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Marvel-Team-Up-Collection-Spider-Man/dp/078512361X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1295553019&sr=1-1) they did of the book.

It's got all 16 issues and the Super Special. You can probably find it on eBay for around $20, which is a heck of a deal for that many issues.

Cool, thanks for that. I've already got the UTM 1-3 TPBs, so I might just try to pick up the individual issues for 6-8.

Pain in the ass when they miss issues out though - especially if they're three of the best in the whole Ultimate Universe!

They also collected those issues in other volumes (like the Best of Spider-Man OHC, Vol. 1 and the BB Daredevil Omni, Vol. 1).

USM never skipped any issues though (I think the original trades skipped the 1/2 but that's it).

Looking at my USM TPBs, issue #27 seems to be missing - volume 4 (Legacy) contains 22-26, and volume 5 (Public Scrutiny) runs from 28-32.

I just looked at my Volume 4 and it has issue 27 in it, but it only says it collects #22-26 on the back of it. Don't worry though, it's there. Take a look at the table of contents on the first page. =)
