In coming months, the cast of "Uncanny X-Force" will face off against an onslaught of cybernertic enemies. We spoke with writer Rick Remender about the series, including a special 5.1 issue featuring art by Rafael Albuquerque.

The first trade is five issues long. The second trade starts with issue 5.1. I believe that explains the numbering.

I thought this book couldn't get better from an actually good Apocalypse story and expanding on Morrison and Aaron's ideas on The World, but now we get Lady Deathstrike too? And Remender has already got plans up to issue #17? I swear this book was made just for me.

Also, holy shit @ that artwork. I'm in love with the red class effects when Wolverine dives at the Akkaba warriors, it's so comic booky and is a great way to illustrate Logan's motions and the blood that rips out with every swing.

This is the only mutant book I'm buying these days -- I've completely lost touch with all the other mutie titles, but this book is f***ing irresistible.

Damn, I'm really pleased that the Reavers are returning. I was just leafing through some Essential X-men books and reflecting on how much I loved the Reavers back in the Claremont/Silvestri days...I even loved the brief feud they had with the Punisher in HIS title (remember, when frank dawned his own personal mech-armor?).

I just can't, for the life of me, figure out why Marvel would schedule the "jumping on" 5.1 issue in the middle of an arc...or why they would have two "5" issues...why not make it 5.1 and 6 instead of 5.1 and 5? ugh.

Remender gets compelling story so well it is scary. It's good to hear he is thinking long term with his planning as he clearly needs to stay on the title for a whlile! The posibilites are so interesting and he seems so driven I cannot wait to see where he goes with all this.

Rick Remender rivals Jason Aaron as my current favorite writer in comics right now (and they collaborate, who knew?). I love Fear Agent, I'm really digging Last Days of American Crime, and his first Punisher arc with Jerome Opena is phenomenal. I really do need to go back and pick up some of his earlier work.

I re-read the first two issues of Uncanny X-Force today and I'm pretty sure I am going to tackle the third issue before bed. You can tell he spends a lot of time on the scripts and keeps making the pacing, the dialogue, the characterization all as tight as possible. It's so well polished and ably drawn be Opena.

I don't even like Venom and I'm anticipating that new book.

There are not bad characters... only characters that are written well or poorly.

In the case of Uncanny X-Force? This team book is probably the best written team book in the world of comics right now. Period.

So in short, you are missing out on a great book because of your bias.

No. There are bad characters. Characters whose inception and execution makes them irredeemably contaminated. Sans Wolverine, who I like, and Angel, who is just dull, that is the case with the UXF cast.

That would transform the team from awful to amazing in one swift move. Psylocke is considerably improved by Sage's presence.

That's a good decision that shouldn't be undone.
If it is, there are a lot of bad x-books he'll fit right in. This is one of the few good books in the franchise. The last thing it needs is to be brought down by Bishop.

Were you expecting an announcement about the cast being changed more to your liking or something? If not, well, you know who's in the book so why bother coming into the thread and pissing on it?

To fortyseven's point, it seems like a really stupid and pointless thing to do. I think the Forever titles are fan-wank, therefore I ignore them. Seems quite pathetic to go into one of those threads to just announce that I hate the cast, the writing, the very concept, etc., and thus don't read it.

Aurora! That would be awesome. Sage is about as entertaining as cardboard and Bishop would make no sense considering where he's at right now.

Aurora would be great to bounce off of any of the characters in that book, plus she's crazy. As much as I love Skids, though, she's not someone I see going around and slaughtering people.
