Complete garbage from start to end.

IDW and its editors should be ashamed and embarrassed.

This is not the sort of thing I expect when I fork over $3.99.

Rubbish.

So that's..........a 9 out of 10 review? :wink::tongue:

Curious to see what Dark Horse's plans are for ANGEL. And I wonder if/how they'll acknowledge the AFTER THE FALL arc (which was co-created and guided by Joss Whedon)...

Well, Dark Horse couldn't do any worse than IDW at this point.

I thought things were going good with Willingham on board...then it started to go downhill. After a couple issues I looked on the inside and noticed the comics had begin to be "co written" by two other people. AKA: the writing had gotten really bad. There were other sloppy mistakes like misspelled words and balloons pointing at the wrong people. Now with the grotesque and jarring art and convoluted story we have in issue 40, I can only guess that IDW has all but given up because they know the book is going to Dark Horse.

At least Lynch is back on Spike, he knows how to write, and knows the characters (especially Spike). Perhaps Dark Horse can lure him over to their side....?

I liked the Blade Runner cover.

But then again, I have yet to read the issue.

So #40 is that bad, huh?

Yeah, Angel After the Fall fell apart after Lynch and Whedon left with #17
But then Bill "Fables" Willingham took over,
and I actually thought he was doing a good job.
But there was some sorta falling out with IDW,
stemming from Dark Horse's Buffy "Twilight" Spoiler,
and now they have a new creative team to finish out the Angel book.
I have yet to buy any issues since Wilingham left.
I was debating just waiting for these in Trade or reading online,
to see how good the Wolf, Ram and Heart storyline is.

It would be huge shame,
if Dark Horse does not acknowledge the After the Fall, storyline.
There were a couple of issues that seemed like IDW was trying to sweep it under the rug. That didn't sit well with me.
After the Fall 1 through 17 was just amazing.
I really hope Dark Horse acknowledges it and it doesn't get forgotten.

After the Fall was great and the best part of the Angel's comics great development for most of the core cast except Gwen. It should be acknowledged Now all we get is connor, I am tired of seeing Gunn take all this crap from Connor who is now running the company selling the Hyperion despite no experience and being the biggest traitor on the whole team.

I've actually been enjoyed the new team. It's a light read, but the best the book has been since After The Fall IMO. I dropped it after a few issues of Willinghams run, which I thought was a complete miss in almost every way. I'll be glad when it moves over to Dark Horse.

The art speaks for itself:

I love how Gunn keeps losing and growing his hair. This was really bad.

I registered just because I had to see if anyone else noticed this:

That can't be accidental can it? If you don't follow, the guy who played Lorne died of complications from an infected cavity.

Anyone would rather pretend that the comics aren't canon from the TV Show? Especially given how lackluster the comics are

Even if it is I still call it insensitive for them to write it

Like the Buffy comic, they started out pretty well but then devolved into some really convoluted and confusing plots. Even though they are canon, I'm going to go ahead and pretend my Buffyverse experience ended with the TV shows.

Holy crap, I hadn't noticed that!

Very low class, IDW. Respect meter is dropping further yet.

I didn't take that as a disrespect thing. Either..............
1. It's a race of demons that resembles Lorne
2. It's a member of Lorne's race (although if they did this intentionally, they should have called humans "cows" and maybe given him a different hairstyle).

I personally think the artist just doesn't have a good enough variety of monsters in his artistic rolodex.

So it's not Lorne?

Hm, now that you mention it, I don't think Lorne would be caught dead wearing a hoodie. :)

Truth be told I stopped reading the comic before that panel. The atrocious art just made the whole thing unbearable and unreadable for me.

I guess I should have mentioned, the demon in that panel isn't Lorne. But it would be quite a coincidence to have that comment made to a character that looks exactly like him, especially since Angel just randomly says it for no reason.

Oh wow. I skimmed over that dialog and didn't realize that Andy Hallet (I think that's the guy who played Lorne) died of an infected cavity. I thought your complaint was just having a Lorne lookalike there at all. I have to chalk that up to bizarre coincidence.I can only pray there is no way could the writer be that insensitive (I hope)!

Andy Hallett died of heart failure five years after being hospitalized for a dental infection that spread to his blood, weakening his heart. This wasn't very well known. To expect the writers and editors of the Angel comic to know this is asking a lot, in my opinion.
