Clean up from the previous thread. Appreciate the writing talent of the author of X-23 and Daken here.

Marjorie Liu is very good at writing hyperreality. A world where X-23 jumps off buildings because she is sad, or Gambit is not immediately hated whenever he walks into a room. I like that. The X-Men need a little bit of oddness to their existence. It's what made Grant Morrison and Peter Milligan's work so interesting, and Liu is pretty much the only person who's continuing with it.

I'm not entirely big on everything I've read of hers, but I do like the Daken character and how she writes him. He's a bastard with no redeeming qualities and I like how she's able to keep him there yet still intrigue me to keep on being interested.
this sounds better for my thread
anyway how was X-men Dark Mirror, that was her first start writting a x-men novel

She is one of my favorite new comic writers, plus she writes novels with bare-chested mermen on the cover.

The first three issues of X-23 were the most pointless story arc I've ever voluntarily read. I've never seen the intrinsic momentum so thoroughly sucked out of a character before, and the sentimentality is almost sickening.
Which is a little strange, since her work on Daken is just the opposite.

I didn't like the first issue too much. I might get the rest. Her solo issue was much better and fantastic.
