There was a sale table at my LCS the other day, and on a whim I picked up, quite cheaply, the 'Marvel Premiere Classic Vol. 39 - Fantastic Four: In Search Of Galactus'.
It collects issues #204 - #214, and is written by Marv Wolfman, with art by Keith Pollard, Sal Buscema and John Byrne, with inks by the great Joe Sinnott.
I've read the first issue, and the art has a nice Kirby influence, and the story had the right mix of interesting and cheese to keep me entertained.
(I flicked ahead, and the double page spread space battle in #405 was pretty sweet!)
My question is, why exactly is this collected in this format?
I'd never actually heard of this storyline before - not praised or despised - so I'm just curious why it warrants this treatment, and there's no forewords or afterwords to clue me in.
Was it a particularly popular storyline, or does it have some big change to the characters within?
I'll be reading it regardless, but I was just curious if anyone had any ideas - the only other book I've got in this format is the Grant/Zeck Punisher miniseries, and that one speaks for itself on why it was collected - that's when the character started to get huge - where as I've not even heard of the Wolfman run before, let alone this storyline.
I'd appreciate any context on this one!
