Which issue does "Three" start in?

It already started in #583
DrDoom616

Issue 583 is the first episode of 'Three'
Issue 584 is the second episode of 'Three'
Both of which has a huge Banner across the top of the cover saying 'Three'
It's a 4-Part story that is counting down to the supposed 'Death' of one of the Fantastic Four.
Issue 585 will be episode 3
and then,
Issue 586 will be the finale, episode 4 that will reveal who 'dies', this issue is said to be released in a Black sealed Bag so as to conceal the identity of who gets killed off.
I am far more interested in whether they will actually change the book name to Fantastic Three as of Issue 587 or not.

Brevoort recently said that their is not going to be a "Fantastic Three" once F4 ends. But he could just be messing with the name and calling it "Three" like you say, but i'm guessing their taking a long break with the book.

I wouldn't really call in an arc in the sense of having 6 issues covering the same story with a beginning and and end. There are ongoing subplots that have been seeded earlier in the run. Issue #579 put the spotlight on the Future Foundation, the FF's little group of foundlings like Dragon Man (who was given a higher level of intelligence by Valeria), Artie and Leech, the orphaned Moloid children and the Wizard's younger clone of himself called "32". Johnny took the kids shopping at a toy store that was run by Arcade and the Impossible Man in issue #580 while FF #581-82 involved a trip to Reed, Ben and Victor's college days and Nathaniel's battle with the Beast, a ruthless multiverse version of Nathaniel. It was a bit of a tie in to Hickman's SHIELD where Nathaniel's encounter with the Night Machine caused all of his multiverse versions of himself to be pulled into the same reality.

"We don't have a precise issue or reasoning, but when asked if the Fantastic Four title would even exist this time next year given the "Three" arc and the "return" of Doom to the series, Brevoort simply said, "No... no there will not. I agree, with the writer of that piece, that, Marvel would not finish this series before it reached 600, I would think that if they were to end the series, it would be at issue 600, with a big ending that would lead into a new book.
My hope, which I have posted elsewhere, is for a New version of Fantastic Force featuring all the main characters and a host of others that have been on the team at one time or another.

The series is ending, already been confirmed.
My guess is that there going to end it on 600 and then not touch the series for a while. I think Thing joining the New Avengers is a way to keep him busy after the the "Fantastic Four " book has ended. It's not like the F4 book is lighting up the sales charts.
They'l proberbly relaunch in a year or so with a brand new no 1 so that they could get more new readers.

Maybe there will be a sort of Shadowland book where one of the members (the one that dies) turns evil or possesed. And there will be loads of minis connected into it to drum up interest into the team.
Or Doom returns (which he's supposed to) and becomes all powerful and gets the Infinity Gauntlet

They print more comics then the pre-orders so that there are extras when shops need to re-order. This announcement is just a ploy to get shops to order more so they don't "miss out" on sales. Of course if it sells out they will have a second printing. Marvel hype as usual.

I don't know who is being killed off, but I think the current story works well with all the characters. I think killing one of them off is just a gambit to make it "important" and is the work of a lazy writer who is using shock value over good storytelling.
I think Hickman is better than that and doesn't need this gimmick.
The Fantastic Four have worked so well for so long due to the interplay of ALL the members. I don't see this death as a positive development.
I also know it won't last and will eventually be rectified.
So in the end it is pointless.
I don't need much to drop a Marvel book these days. But I guess they don't give a rat's ass about longtime readers, since so many new readers are coming in...... oh wait...

As a longtime reader myself, I sympathize with the concerns of some of my fellow longtime FF fans. All we can do at this point is to trust Joe Q and his staff and hope that the death storyline somehow, someway, all works out in the end for the welfare of the FF. What I wonder is will the death of one of our beloved FF stars make the news on CNN or Fox News or perhaps even CBS, ABC or NBC? If so, could this create enough interest in the FF to raise it's standing in the sales charts significantly?

The biggest thing in the last five years that got press was was Spider-man related and that books is a mess forever. People who wanted a story about Spider-man revealing his identity to the world (in a boringly cliched way in my opinion) would of only got stuff about Civil War and a few pages of Jonah Jameson being mad about Peter being Spider-man. That's it. I think it broke the credibility of the book. Basically, Spider-man is the book about what you don't get to me after that.
My point is Marvel really needs to start pulling itself together, which means somebody has to die. Stuff like Reed and Sue breaking up for five minutes isn't going to cut it. Marvel needs to move on from the Millar/Quesada/Bendis conceptual overhype and into story-driven hype that is actually planned out in advanced hopefully.

Marvel has played up this "Three" storyline up so much, that if they backed down at this point and gave us the death of Valeria or Franklin or the death of Ben, Johnny, Reed or Sue from the future or the past, they would no doubt lose a lot of credibility. All we can do is hope that the Marvel chiefs know what they are doing and that all will come out for the better eventually.

Yes, I actually wrote Marvel and suggested an alternate Universe copy as a possible way around the death of the Marvel Universe hero/heroine. I have noticed in recent days quite a few posters suggesting a return to the beginning and a new issue #1. I was not at all pleased with this happened the last two times, but I will certainly favor this option if Sue is the one who is killed. However, such a scenario would seem to run counter to the announced plan that Marvel plans to integrate the FF more fully into the rest of the Marvel Universe. How could this be done if the FF starts all over at #1, but the other key titles stay in the 2011 timeline?
