I was upset that no one did anything to save him.
They just stood around and watched him die.
They could have stitched that up.

One of my favourite characters and i didn't want him to die, but I'm glad he went out a hero. I was a bit annoyed about the funeral, i know that circumstances at the time meant that things would be rushed, but i just feel that they didn't do the character justice. I wanted Wolverine to give a proper eulogy.

Wasn't necessary for the plot. Didn't live up to the hype. Didn't shake up the status quo. Showed Nightcrawler dying like a hero... who didn't know how to fight or learn from previous injuries. Resulted in not just the loss of my favorite comic book character ever, but the loss of respect I had for the surviving X-Men, and the loss of all interest I had in buying what used to be my favorite book. Made the Marvel Universe depressing. And it furthermore, this will put Marvel in hot water with the Cockrum estate.
That's what I think.

I liked it. It was sad, but he died a hero. Nightcrawler's always been one of my favorites, but I'm happy he got a good death unlike so many other characters who's deaths weren't nearly as powerful.
The funeral being more about Cyclops rather than Nightcrawler himself was stupid though.

I was caught off guard by his death, what happen to when they could be carried off to the med-lab and be fighting battles in next issue.
I did enjoy Nightcrawler's final request to Wolverine, that was a good short story.

He died a hero.
Everything after relating to his death...ehhh. Funeral was iffy. Haven't seen anyone besides Wolverine reacting to his death. I would like to see Kitty, Peter, Amanda, and Mystique's reactions.

I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but when I heard Kurt died I danced for five minutes. I'm talking five solid minutes with no breaks or breath or water, and I'm 260 lbs. Then I read how he died and felt like this:

Seriously, Elixir healed Kitty and Piotr after Danger impaled a large piece of shrapnel through both of their torsos, so how does a wimpy little Sentinel hand through the chest NOT get fixed????

Yeah Elixir got written out so these types of deaths could happen. Still the funeral sucked ass, why in the world was Bobby giving the goddamn eulogy. Kurt and Bobby have never been that close at one point Bobby was always hating on Kurt. Honestly, you have good public speakers like Xavier and Storm but Bobby gets the speech. Also the funeral focused too much on Scott.
The death itself was also bad because Scott made a dumb decision. He doesn't trust vanisher but has Pixie volunteering to teleport with her instant teleport. Scott tells her no she is too young but then sends Pixie to Limbo to save Illyana. So Pixie is too young to teleport to a field and spend at most five seconds grabbing the team but is just the right age to go to Hell. Piss poor decision making by Scott and certainly didn't varnish his master strategist credentials.

When other characters that aren't Wolverine do, it's because of bad writing.

Bobby does not hate Kurt, and I think they got fairly close during Casey and Austen. But I suppose Ro would have been better speaker while Logan was snarling away. Peter had the most off-hand , snarky comment ever. If Marvel is peeved with fans it is utterly ridiculous to ruin a story over it. That will be in print forever and years from now people wont know why and think its simply bad writing.

They didnt watch him die. He died seconds after the teleport. Its not like he layed there for minutes in which something could have been done. There was nothing to be done to save him as he was already a goner. The only chance he could have remotely had was Elixir who unfortunately was MIA. Even with him there, I doubt there would have been much he could have done considering the time constraint and the severity of the wound

He was a scapegoat of the X-Men merchandise.
Utterly irrelevant death. Ultimately, Cable saved Hope. And he was her mentor/father figure. I bet Hope's already forgotten about the blue elf. LOL.
It would've been logical if Marvel killed off more wallpaper characters though.
Cutting down the number of characters will make more space to focus on others resulting in more in-depth storytelling.

That is the problem with Utopia its filled with wallpaper and plays up the fighting for survival angle. So unless Marvel wants to ship characters off Utopia, there will always be plenty of background characters.

Too many writers to blame during a crossover since they all sit at the table to come up with these crossover ideas. Far easier to blame the character in this case.

No, I'm not thank Vishnu, but my dance over Kurt's death is less hatred of Kurt, and more hatred directed solely at one poster in particular whose obsession of Kurt is disgustingly perverse to the point of asking Cockrum in person to draw Kurt naked and then post that picture on threads to show that he has only 1 penis and not 2, as Chuck Austen might have insinuated, and secondly she wronged some of my mates on another board.

Thanks, but that's because you're a nice person, and again, it's less about "hating" Kurt than hating a certain over zealous fans that turns him into a sexual fetish of moral perfection, who can never do wrong.

That whole issue ruined what little momentum SC had going for it. Half an issue devoted to a botched funeral where Fraction does a Henry vs. Scott College Frat House pissing contest over...what were they even bitching about??? No one seemed to even care about the funeral and just sort of scattered. Then Kurt was buried, more scattered X-Men, and then BAM! Scott starts making new plans when it became increasingly obvious that he should just order the X-Men to strap bombs to themselves and suicide bomb Bastion and his Nimrods.
I'm glad Bastion finally got to kill someone. Bastion was always a loser, but Kurt is a bigger loser. Bastion was the worst Sentinel ever b/c he couldn't kill any mutants. Now, he killed Kurt, so I respect it more.

LoL, that's right, and if I recall Kitty wasn't that impressed with his selection. I don't foresee these two lasting very long...again...for the 1000th time. I wonder if Matt Fraction will add Pete Wisdom into to add some "spice" to Kitty and the Russian Borewhore's relationship, or more precisely, their lack of a relationship.
Crappy dvds that bore your Ghost Girlfriend in a pickle jar does not set the right "mood" or "tone" when trying to rekindle a romance. He may as well talk about Illyana twenty-four, seven and how she's a demon warmongerer.
I am still wondering how Colossus made it too the science lab so quickly.

I'm over it now. Yes it sucked, yes the follow up sucked even more, yes it was all horribly contrived and ended up having the OPPOSITE impact intended with the core readership (cheap deaths for story's weight usually do)... but it's done, and I'm one to prefer "dead means dead" so I'd prefer it stick.
