Hi All!!:
I was one of the fortunate to attend, The DC Universe online Fan Event at NYCC a few weeks ago, and was able to get a beta key to test the game out before it launches. I must say that this is a fun game, that everyone should buy!!
After installing the game (which was an overnight process) It opens up with the cinematic trailer that weall know and love, after that we get into character Creation.
After picking your gender, you pick your body type out of 3 choices:
Big: which is like a Solomon Grundy/ Old school Giganta from SuperFriends body type
Medium: Normal hero body type
Small: Teen Hero body type
After that you can go into custom mode where you pick everything individually:
Morality Type: Hero Or Villain after this is chosen you pick your mentor
Mentor Heroes: Superman Batman Wonder Woman
Mentor Villain : Lex Joker Circe
Movement : 3 Choices: Flight, Acrobatics, SuperSpeed
Personality: Various
Weapons: Various
Power Types: Various
Costume options and final color choices
Or you can go into Inspired By mode where everything is chosen for you and all you have to basically is pick a name for your character.
For me once I was done the story opens up in Brainiac's ship where you have to fight your way through to escape, you even get to team up with Superman in a short battle at the end of that particular level.
After that the game truly begins. I ended up in Metropolis' Chinatown where my quests are given to me by both Oracle and Wonder Woman ( Diana is voiced by Gina Torres who does an excellent Job) Just like WOW ( World Of Warcraft) There are quest chains that lead to boss fights, and so far I've Battled gains Faust and his minions, a Trigon possessed Raven and the Titans ( Donna, Nightwing, Starfire, and Cyborg). right now I'm in the middle of a quest where I'm going up against both Giganta and Circe.
After you reach Level 9 you get an invitation to the Watchtower where you can walk around and explore, the immensely huge structure ( Stormwind from WOW can fit in the watchtower!!) All-in-all the game is so much fun, of course it being beta there are quite a few bugs, but those aside, the game is worth playing and buying when it comes out!!
