Meh. The movie was good, but the ending just killed it for me. I have no desire to watch this movie ever again, or to see a sequel.

Unbreakable was, in my opinion, the best movie Shyamalan has made so far, and probably the best movie he ever will make.
I would have been interested to see the version that was %5 brighter in tone, but as is I think it's a stunning movie that advanced Shyamalan beyond being the guy who does the trick endings.
As much as I do love the movie, I don't know that I'd ever be interested in seeing a sequel, I like the movie as is and am kind of afraid that adding to that might ruin it.

Unbreakable is and probably always will be my favorite Night film and I've always wanted to see a sequel to it. Well, I always did want to see a sequel. After The Happening and especially after the wreck that was The Last Airbender, I've begun to question my faith in Night. I still have hope, though. If he can go back to his mentality from ten years ago and leave this new, family-orientated mentality behind, I truly believe that he could give us an amazing sequel to Unbreakable. So yeah, I'm skeptical. On one hand, I want an Unbreakable sequel more than anything else. On the other hand, I'm scared it could end up being David Dunn in happyland. Time will tell...

It was Night's best film. A sequel could snap him back to his old ways of creating great sci-fi pictures like the Sixth Sense and Signs. He'll need a good film after his last 2.

My favorite M Night movie, I'd love to see a sequel.

I dont know. On one hand this was the last good movie M.Night has done and it could be considered a nice comeback for him if the sequel is better recieved than his other films. On the other hand he could turn the most well recieved M.Night movie into a piece of crap. Just hope he can somehow get Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson back and there could be a chance of this movie being decent

Conservatively, you must mean his last three, all of which were incredibly bad.
Whereas I say he hasn't made a decent movie since Unbreakable.

I personally enjoyed Lady in the Water. It wasn't as good as the films before it but it was a modern-day fantasy that was, for the most part, enjoyable.

I don't get why people hated the village. I personally loved it. My mom even liked it. Lady and the giamati and signs of the end of mel's career were both boring and I didn't bother with happening. I'll see the last air bender though.

I agree. I also think of it as one of the best "Superhero" movies ever made.

I was gonna say that Ziza damn you:mad: i keep wondering why noone saw this originally? it was almost under the radar.
I would love to see M Night tackle another Superhero film cause obviously he has a huge deep abiding love for it.

I also don't really see much there for a sequel without it becoming less real world and it sucking.

Sorry but I don't trust Shyamalan anymore. I don't know what his problem is, but he needs to get it together and he needs to keep his current funk away from his greatest film.

I said 2, but it's actually 5. I was counting The Happening and The Last Airbender.
But Devil...and The Happening...and The Last Airbender...and The Lady in the Water...and The Village were terrible.
After the Sixth Sense all of his films with the word The in it has failed. His films seem to be getting worse. They are less and less well recieved. The Sixth Sense was #89 on AFI's 100 movies list and had almost universal acclaim and the Last Airbender was almost universally panned.
If his films get worse, the next film could end his career.

A sequel should be written and directed by Christopher Nolan. I would rather see him make an Unbreakable film than a Superman film with Zack "overrated" Synder.

Now this I could get behind.
It was a great movie-verse and the acting was fantastic. As long as there is story to tell, I'm not apposed to a sequel.
JUST KEEP SHYAMALAN AWAY FROM IT!

Why, what's he doing to the first movie? Nothing and it will remain unchanged. Crappy sequel or great sequel, he's not doing anything to the first movie. And for those that have trouble separating 2 movies, well, we can't do anything about them now can we.

Nah, keep Nolan away from this. This is Shyamalan's universe, if we wants to continue it, then he should. He can still have what it takes, he had it for Unbreakable, it's in there, maybe the source material will bring out a fantastic movie creator again (though I agree he peaked a few movies ago, I really can't say I hate any of his movies though I have yet to see The Last Airbender)

I really don't see where he could go with Unbreakable in the sequel that would make it different from the other superhero movies.
I also felt like the movie wrapped up nicely with no real cliffhangers or anything.

Yeah I thought the best conclusion he could have given the movie is that he found out about his powers and started to cope with them and become a real life hero. See no interest in seeing something that involve real people with Superpowers since I already saw that with Heroes and now No Ordinary Family. If this was done long before the concept of Heroes ever came up then it probably would have been interested

I agree w/some of the people that M.Shyamalan shouldn't make a sequel.
What I like about Unbreakable, is that, he shown y can do serious realistic superhero movie w/o having the same 'ol clichés. If he wants to make a "superhero" movie he should tackle something like Supreme Power.

I think that Signs is 3/4s of a really, really good film. I watched it again recently and the slow build leading up to the home invasion is arguably the best thing he's ever done, but it all goes to hell really quickly.

hahaha (to the first response) and ditto to this one. I would rather a new film playing around with similar themes than Unbreakable 2. I think comic readers got that the original was a superhero tale, but the people not into the genre didn't get it because the marketing department for the film didn't tell them that it was a superhero movie. You know?

^this makes a lot of sense. it was my favorite of his movies. a sequel would be ill-concieved.

What if he decides to go back to it and alter it to better fit his original vision?

I don't get that hate either. It was brilliant how even if we knew it wasn't real monster in the wood attacking the blind girl, his use of ambiance made us jumpy anyway. That was amazing.
In my opinion he should have continued on Unbreakable right after the first movie and made it a big epic with multiple flicks. Imagine all the inspiration he could have drawn upon and new takes on villains he could have come up. It may be too late now.

I actually went and saw Unbreakable and I think the audience was cool on the ending as well. Made sense to me, but what do I know?
I didn't really care a lot for Unbreakable, but compared to everything he did after it, it was friggen great.

That's cause Airbender was terribly rushed(in terms of onscreen storylines)... if IIRC it was 1.5 of the books... it really should have been one film just for the first book.
