View Full Version : Who draws the best-looking Harvey Dent?

In most versions of Two-Face's origin, Harvey Dent is mentioned to be especially good-looking before the accident - his original golden age appearance, after all, had him nicknamed "Apollo" by the press. Yet, I find that too many modern artists, whether drawing him as plain old Harvey or as the good side of Two-Face, turn his face into a butt-ugly scowling gangster type.
So, which versions of Harvey, in your opinion, actually live up to the moniker of "Apollo"?
His good side looks pretty damn suave here:

Tim Sale probably draws the best one I've seen.
But my favourite was Aaron Eckhart, because he's, well, Aaron Eckhart.

I thought Bruce Timm's rendition from B:TAS really did Harvey justice. Particularly his sketch of him smoking in the book, Batman: Animated.

Chris Sprouse (sp?).
Jim Balent also drew the non-scarred half of his face as rather handsome.

I like Simone Bianchi's Two Face, he sort of reminds me of Carry Grant

Talking about Harvey's looks, do you all prefer his scarred side with hair, or bald?

Bald! Get as realistic as possible here! This is Batman we're talking bout'!

Sale's is pretty awesome as well, but again his Harvey really reminds me of Carry Grant as well, I wonder if that was purposeful or if it's just me seeing things.

Amazing, look at that tie. It isn't 2 random ties "stitched" together, but the actual pattern is 50/50, and as it should, it goes horizontally in the knot at the top.
Never noticed that before seeing this. Wonder if that approach is common or unique.

I agree w/ both Sale & Bianchi. I'll throw in Jae Lee (Batman: Jekyll & Hyde).

Time Sale? Who's he?
Also, I'll put in my vote for Kelley Jones, but ONLY for one specific panel: the one in Batman #528 where he's shown busting out of Arkham shouting "We are... FREE!"
In that panel and that panel only, he looks like a freaking anime character. In a good way.
Everywhere else (including Batman's flashbacks of a pre-crazy Dent), Jones draws a typical grumpyfaced, squashy-looking Harvey that occasionally ventures into the territory of just plain ugly.

And speaking of posting pictures... hang on to your underwear, ladies and gentlemen, for the awesomesauce combination that is Two-Face + Norm Breyfogle. (http://about-faces.livejournal.com/13513.html#cutid1)
The blog also has a ton more Two-Face commissions from professional artists, including a few by Sale.

So you really think Two-Face kept the same clothes and didn't just get a suit of his own after turning into Two-Face?

I'm a big fan of the way Sprouse drew Two-Face in that story. Also, Matt Wagner.

Sprouse only did the interior art, however. That cover was drawn by Neal Adams.

I know. I just can't find a decent picture of Sprouse's Two-Face online.

I'm sure Brian Bolland drew him at some point, but I can't find a picture.
One that shows both sides of his face, that is.
Oh, here we go:

Gah, it won't show. It was on the cover of Secret Origins Special.

Who drew the Manhunter backup in Streets of Gotham? I thought that was a really great Two-Face, although heavily inspired by The Dark Knight.
