View Full Version : Partisan Nonsense

I know that we already have two threads for this, but they overlap fairly often (like the "Ground Zero Mosque" which isn't a mosque and isn't at Ground Zero) and other times, the idiocy falls between the two parties such as Libertarians, Tea Partiers (which aren't always Republicans although they're trying to take over), Constitution Party and Greens.

How about the nonsense that there's only two "sides" in this country. Binary thinking pervades in this country because big grey areas in the middle are scary and indistinct. Heaven help you if you have views that fall on both sides of said line. Neither extreme trusts you at all, then.

Yep. Point out one minor flaw in one side's thinking and you're automatically with "the other guys."

Or: If you're not with the propaganda machine, you're the target.

That's a slightly different kind of nonsense from what the threads had been about because it had been usually a Republican saying or doing something stupid and getting mocked on the thread.

But yeah, the last few pages are certainly appropriate for that.

True, you did phrase it like that in the opener.

Wasn't the first suggestion for this thread to be about any parties doing stupid shit for purely partisan reasons?

Admittedly, my post doesn't match that, really, either.

And now we see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

I think so, but it's tough to differentiate at times. Sometimes, people do stupid stuff for partisan reasons and sometimes, they're genuinely stupid or bigoted. Or all three.

Loretta Sanchez might be a good candidate for that, but I need to see something that isn't sliced up by Hannity.

Well, Libertarians often run as Republicans, and viceversa. The tea party was actually started by Fox News and Beck/Palin seem to be their figureheads. I don't think it's too far fetched to lump all of them in the same pile. As far as the Constitution Party goes, I don't think they are actually running any candidates. Who does the party most often endorse? Who is the party most often voting for? My guess is Republicans.

Until the internet came along I didn't even know I was a far right libertarian and an anti-semite.

And I never would've known that I was an Alinsky-loving Obot on the payroll of George Soros.

And I had no idea about the beliefs my signature says I hold until the internet came along.

Hell, I used to think I liked the Muslim religion. Now I know better.

dupont2005 needs accuracy:

The tea party was actually started by Fox News and Beck/Palin seem to be their figureheads.

Just to note, as Loren pointed out to me, Fox didn't actually start the Tea Party. They took a small grass roots group (that, IMHO, probably wouldn't have gotten very far) and co-opted it for their own use.

Same thing to me. Either way, it is what it is thanks to the support of Fox News.

And so my online targets (http://www.lorencollins.net/trudeau/) come full circle:

Kevin Trudeau is a Birther

Start listening at 01:31:25. Even by Birther standards, Trudeau's account is astonishingly full of lies and misrepresentations.

So that's how a black hole happens. Thanks for clearing that up.

That's another thing - where's my paycheck?

I've been on the payroll since before the 2008 election and I STILL haven't gotten a check.

No. That's what leads to rise of AIs. And Skynet.

All hail the coming of our Machine Overlords.
