View Full Version : What if Thanos's evil could have prevented the invasion of the many-angled beings

In Thanos Imperative, Captain Marvel of the cancerverse makes a deal with the many angled beings to extend his life. What if Thanos was actually not particular evil or may have even been a good character in the Cancerverse. As a result, Marvel was never challenge by a great evil and didn't develop the same moral sense as he did in the 616 universe?

I also wonder if Thanos's resurrection and death was a precursor move by Death to throw the trail off. When the cancerverse invaded 616, they probably heard that Thanos had been killed.

As far as we know, the origin of the divrgence between 616 and Cancerverse is the coin-flip decision of Cpt. Marvel to use his power to complete the death killing ritual(Necropsy? I have a terrible memory).
Prior to that, everything was exactly the same.

I don't think the Revengers knew a thing about our universe, except that Death was still alive. If they thought the avatar(Thanos) were already dead, they wouldn't be able to complete the ritual in 616, so their invasion would be moot.

But details can always be revealed in the final half of the story. I wouldn't put it past DnA to dupe us with false reveals in #3.

Paul- with all due respect, if you think fighting Thanos was what made Captain Mar-Vell Captain Marvel, what makes him a hero, you should probably read up on early CM.

He's the real thing, for better or worse, the definitive hero. That's what makes the dichotomy between the two characters still work to this day.

Was Optimus Prime only a hero because he fought and defeated Megatron?

Same kinda thing.

Kindest regards*

I love Thanos, but Captain Mar-Vell (c) bores the bejeezus bones out of me. Mostly for aesthetic reasons.

While the GotG were fighting on Titan in the last TI, we saw the stone Thanos statue, hinting pretty strongly that in the Cancerverse, Thanos went down exactly the same path as he did in 616, but because Mar-Vell ushered in the Many Angled Ones, he never returned for the Infinity Gauntlet.

I thought Thanos WAS the Avatar of Death in the Cancer-verse? And him being killed via the Necropsy or whatever it was called led to Death itself dying in the Cancer-verse? That's the reason why the Cancer-verse is invading the 616 universe... to perform the Necropsy on 616 Thanos.

That is about right yeah. Because of that, nobody can die in the Cancerverse.

Nope, that's not right. They invade 616 because Cancerverse is full! Because nobody can die over there, that universe is full. They need to expand and therefor will try to invade 616.
