Hello guys, If this post has been previously made I'd love a link to the answers but if not some help would be epic.

A few years ago I read Robin Unmasked, and I really liked it and I noticed that its vol. 4, but I honestly can't find a simple explanation to the reading order nor volume names of the Robin series.

What I'd like is a list of Robin Comics/Graphic Novels and the order to read them to best understand Robin's story.. It doesn't have to include the Batman & Robin if that's asking too much.

ANY help would be great, thankyou!

If you open up the novels, within the first three pages, it should say, "collected from Robin #---" That should help you put them in order. Robin: Year One is a must have, as is Robin: Search For A Hero (which is the last trade for the series).

Do you know if they're 'comic's' or 'graphic novel's' or if there's even a difference..? I feel incredibly stupid asking that XD!

Thanks! I've been trying to find Robin: Year One, cheapest I can find it is amazon though.. amazing how over priced comic stores can be. @__@;

Don't feel stupid it's an honest question. I've heard them called graphic novels, but most go by trades. You'll probably have to get some in single issues but they do have quite a few trades.

A trade is when a story is collected in a graphic novel. IE: We'll say Batman #210-216 was known (in the single issues) as "The Killing Circus." The book would be called "The Killing Circus" and would collect issues 210-216. A graphic novel proper is something that wasn't released in single issue... IE: The Killing Joke.

And my comic shop gives 25% off all novels. He has a few Year Ones in. Read More Comics in Brandon, Fl. Look it up, give him a call, and see if he'll mail it to you.

The main Robin series was called "volume 4" because there were three short miniseries that preceded it.

This link (http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Tim-Drake-Robin-list/lm/R1806PR3XDEANY) has every trade in order and the issues they collect.

Basically A Hero Rebon is vol.1, Tragedy and Triumph vol.2, Flying Solo vol.3 and then Vol. 4 beginning with Robin Unmasked.

Maybe someone else can tell you why the first 120 issues of vol.4 were not collected, I have no idea.

BTW if you PM me your address I'll send you Robin: Year One for free. I'm not joking. I'm in Sydney and I don't like this trade that much so it's not a big deal.

Hello I saw the list on amazon and i will buy these books soon, I just wanted to know why it goes from isssue 1- 6 flying solo with tim drake being robin then straight to issue 121- 125 robin unmasked, if these series went for 180 something issues were there no more trades made i really wanted to buy all the robin books, in trade version as i am currently reading batgirl and i want to see the relationship between the two characters.

No one knows why the rest of the issues have not been collected into trades.

The back issues should be cheap enough, though.

Trade collections weren't as common back then as they are now.

I think it's odd because Nightwing & Birds of Prey got complete the trade treatment.

Actually, they didn't. They stopped collecting Nightwing after the Greg Land issues and didn't start up again until Grayson was writing. And most of the pre-Gail Simone Birds have not been collected (other than some of the first minis).

Ignore the unsolicited email.

As to finding Robin back issues, try the comic shops. Look up some online comic shops, like Midtown Comics or Mile High Comics. Try ebay.

Here's a list of comics shops in Australia:

CBR member Ian Gould (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/member.php?u=384) has a comic shop somewhere in Oz. He may be able to help you.

New question:

Which would you read first? Robin Year One or Batman The Gauntlet?

Jeff Brady
10-31-2010, 12:27 PM
The Gauntlet. It's literally Dick's first night as Robin.

Ok so am I correct if Robin 183 is the issue where we can see Robin making his decision to stop being Robin and Red Robin #1 is the issue where we can see him becoming Red Robin? Or are there any other issues/novels/tpb's that we need to read to see the full migration of Tim Drake becoming Red Robin?

I believe Comixology has Robin: Year One at 1.99 per issue right now. Not as good as the 99 cent sale from a week ago, but 8 bucks for the series isn't bad at all.

Edit: Just realized how old the posts were, so that's probably not helpful at all. >_>
