Hi there, maybe this isn't the right place to ask this but well I have a question about comic cons. A couple friends and I are heading to the Chicago Comic Con and I was hoping to get a couple sketches done. I haven't been to a large comic con like this before and I've never got any sketches done before.
My question is how much do artists usually charge for a sketch? I'd assume it depends on the artist and stuff but I was wanting to get a general idea and plan a budget. Any feedback would be much appreciated and I'd love to hear from others who have gotten sketches done. Thanks!

It depends on the artist and on what you ask for. Some charge $5 for a head shot, some charge $20. You really won't know until you get there.

Be ready to stand in line alot, but it's worth it.

Check out the Actor booth and see who they are going to have there.
I've gotten the most artwork done there and it goes to a good cause.

I think $25 is about average just from what I have read. My only sketch was commissioned online and cost me $35. I think the artists at FCBD a few years back were charging $25.

Don't forget that a lot of artists have websites with links to where you can seek commissions. If there are specific artists you have in mind, you may be able to target the ones you want- thus reduce your line waiting.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it's very helpful. Not sure what artists I'm going to hit up yet but I have a much better feel about how much I'm going to spend. Thanks again!
