BONJOUR! YE CHEESE-EATIN' SURRENDER MONKEYS!
http://simpsonitos.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/125-6-22-2f32-round-springfield08.jpg
This week's Cover Contest theme... once upon a time "England" was the theme, and I figure, why not go with their friends from across the channel this week...
FRANCE!
Let's see the best representations of covers of the country of France, French comic book characters, and all things Francais (I suppose French Canadians, or the freeze-dried French would apply).
All covers must be from published comics, graphic novels, collections, Jack Chick tracts, fanzines, price guides, yadda-yadda-yadda. One cover per entrant, no kibitzing from the peanut gallery, voting ends at midnight PST.

On a tangential note, there's Section 8's French hero, Jean de Baton-Baton:

God, that joke is so 2002. Who wrote that?
Mark Millar.
Also, glad to see Frenchie's cover on the Boys, Batroc the Leaper, and Jean de Baton all made it. Those were 3 that came to mind when I pitched this, so good times.

For me, it's down to Ray R., DubipR, and ChadH... hmm... lotsa last name initial choices...
...I'll go...
Ray R. Although Pepe Le Pew and Jerry Lewis were certainly inspired choices, I love that Little Lulu cover. I have that comic somewhere... I can't recall if I read it, though...

I'll vote for benday-dot.
Paradox
08-10-2010, 06:07 AM
Ray R.'s is a charmer, but there's just so much wrong about that Metamorpho cover that I have to vote for it.
Sagafan.

Tough choice this week. Great idea for the contest.
Between RayR, Puma, and BendayDot.....
I'll fling it to Benday Dot for going the Mdme Marie route. Great cover
RayR, you were so close..that John Stanley cover is killer
Puma, you like RayR...choosing Andy Watson, that's almost always a win in my book but Benday trumped it.
Great job everyone

Stonegold's cover was both obscure and offensive as hell; he gets credit for digging that out, but I'm voting for Sagafan, so I don't have to feel guilty.
and the votes are tallied:
with one each: Lone Ranger, Dizzy D, Professor Moriarty, greg Hatcher, Paradox, the4thpip, DupibR
with two: Sagafan
with four: Ray R
with five: mattbib
and our winner with eight: benday-dot
