I am a huge kevin smith fan, He is one of my favorite writer/directors, and I really enjoy his dialogue. I also know that some of his comic work on green arrow and daredevil is quite good.
But, when I read his cacophony batman mini, It was a shameless piece of crap worshiping at the foot of a villian he created that should have stayed one-shot. But I just read this article, and it gets worst.
In his current batman mini, bats reveals that during one of the more iconic moments in bats year one, he pissed himself. Kevin, I think you are a great and funny guy, but stop writing batman. You suck, big time.

I'm going to say this and hope it makes sense. I think only someone that "almost" gets Batman as well as Kevin Smith can screw him up this badly. To take that seminal moment, and know it was a seminal moment, and add that detail to it . . .
sigh.
Of course it doesn't help that Silver is apparently the perfect woman because she never makes any demands other than for Bruce to have lots of sex with her.
Plus, Kevin has written some amazing dialog in his lifetime. Very little of it has appeared in this series. Most of it just feels really awkward and out of place. And I don't even know how to approach what's wrong with Ivy apparently . . . well . . . I can't even get into how blatant the Ivy scene was.
And the Demon . . . that had to be the most impenetrable dialog ever. I don't think I've ever read dialog that was so tortured.
For someone that seems to do fairly well detailing relationships in his movies, the women in this book live or die for Bruce's affection.
I want to like this book. There are a few parts, especially with Dick and Tim and Bruce slamming bad guys, that it feels like a real, honest to goodness Batman book. Then Baphomet shows up or Silver decides to politely ask Bruce for some more sex, and it all goes out the window.

Man what the hell has happened to Kevin Smith and Neal Adams on Batman recently ? Its like they are having a contest ..."Lets see who can write the worst piece of shit mini-series with Batman !"

His Ivy didn't really strike me as out of character, Knight. She's often very "blatant".

I can't even post what I want to say to describe the line between "hey, I'll strongly imply that I want to have sex with you if you do what I want" and "I'm going to put . . . something . . . in your face and if you don't take me up on my offer I'm going to be the master of my own domain in front of you."
That was a bit over the top for me.

How do you go from Quiver and the Green Hornet to that?

Cacophony wasn't so bad. I'd rather have Onomatopoeia than the Joker anyd-wait, he was there too. Damn.

More interestingly how did he go from his Oni work to that.
Working on his own comics, I felt Smith was stronger than playing in the DC sandbox.

I almost signed up for a password just to correct the writer of the article "He's referencing For the Man Who has Everything, not Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow." I'm such a geek.
On the pants wetting...well, that's ONE way to refute Batgod...

Hmmm... I've actually been enjoying the books so far.. but... this is just hitting the skids. Wow. Way to shit all over year one and turn Bruce and Silver's relationship into somethign out of Clerks. Is Bruce gonna tell her not to suck any Dick on the way to the Batmobile next?

That's a problem for me too. Silver St. Cloud was such a great Englehart addition and the storyline back in the 70's was great.
I know that Englehart brought her back recently, but having her dispatched by your own Villain Sue? Ugh.

Shitty writing always dirties its subject matter, but that doesn't make it good.

Oh, it absolutely IS shitty writing, don't get me wrong. It's basically a fart joke without the farting. I just like to see the extreme Batman-fanboys get up in arms about their idol being displayed as anything else besides a demi-god, or even, gasp, human. Though, there are lots of normal and non-fanatic fans that will also get caught up in that, I will admit. So, it's sad for them, but I admit my guilty pleasure.
Sidenote, are you from the comic critics webcomic?

Yeah, and I'm depressed at the prospect that I may have to go out and read this thing now.

Maybe it's just me, but does every single Kevin Smith-written relationship read exactly the same?

That makes it slightly better. The writing of the scene implies Kevin Smith might not know the difference, though.

Kevin Smith has done some good stuff (Quiver, Daredevil) but he's also done some things that others worship that I think are rather eighth-grade wankery (Dogma, Clerks 2, Mall Rats).
I think most of the stuff that makes people drool is Kevin taking a crap on old monuments such as sex, religion, family and other things.
Why wouldn't we expect him to shit on Batman? Sooner or later this has to be the "funniest thing ever" and "so intelligent that only intelligent people can see the meta-intelligence in it".

Really, it's not because Kevin Smith does it, I can assure you. It could be any other writer as well, in my case.
And I don't really think Smith is ashining beacon for the intelectual comic elite...rather more for the stoner population.

Maybe so.
But there is a certain bit of intelligentsia that honors Smith because of his now outdated "indie cred" as something of a creative genius.

I'm not really seeing how that explanation is supposed to make it better. What was the need to add any info about Batman's bladder problems into the story? Not to mention all the other stuff that was mentioned in the article, like Batman's "double digit" sexplay. The whole thing sounds childish, glad I'm skipping it.
