OH MY! What an opinionated thread title! Even if you do not agree, you must admit he had a very strong showing, the best in years. It is like the big wigs listened to what fandom has been asking them for years and decided to do it all within the confines of the next few months!
Want the Hobgoblin? We got 'em!
Want Carnage? We got 'em!
Want Ben Reilly? We ... uh ... we have new (old) stories with him!
New outfits? We can do that too!
Fantastic Four? SIR, YOU MUST BE MAD!!!!!
Want Amazing to be unified with one totally awesome writer, drawn by a team of incredible awesome artists, now at two times a month so you can buy some more mighty Marvel titles with your spare change?! YOU GOT IT!
And the mysteries! Oh the mysteries!
If the Scorpion is back, what happened to the Venom symbiote?
Who is the new Carnage/Hobgoblin?!
I can hardly contain my BIG TIME excitement!
Bottom line, if Spider-Man didn't win comic-con, in terms of comics, I'd like to know who did.

Win? I didn't know there was a game going on.
This reminds me of those console fanboys who constantly claim their console of choice "won" E3. To make themselves feel better about the system they are supporting.

Nintendo totally won the last E3. Just sayin'

Spidey's announcements definitely piqued my interest the most.
But I'd say the Infinity Gauntlet over in the Thor/Avengers film is a real contender.

Besides one writer, what DO you want? 'Cause it's pretty hard to ever find something that you don't put down.

I'd say it won the show.
Everything else just made people mad (Red Hulk in Avengers) or had already been announced.
DC didn't even announce anything big except for the new Flash book to my knowledge.

That is what was given by the panel when asked about Ben Reilly, that they were making new stories with him after saying he is still dead or something around those lines. I would assume they might be back ups in the main book.

Yeah, the news about Spider-Man were the best of Comic Con.
I was already a fan of the last direction of Spider-Man comics, and over all the news about the future of the title look promising.

Guessing more "untold stories" along the lines of what JMD has been writing over in WoS.

Fantastic Four? SIR, YOU MUST BE MAD!!!!!What does this one mean? He will have more adventures with the FF? He will be a temporary member of the FF again?
I sure hope not the second, and I don't mind a little of the first, cause I'm more of a fan of the greater solo book of Spider-Man

With mention of Peter starting a new career, might mean he''s going to be the FF's new science whiz.

I don't think there was any real exciting news at CC with anything in regards to actual comicbooks to tell the truth. There were a couple of neat little things here and there but nothing that got me jumping up and down out of my seat or anything.

The winner of Comic-Con was Clark Gregg (Agent Caulson of SHIELD) who stood alongside a mostly A-list cast when the roster for the Avengers movie was announced.

But Spider-Man came close.
The losers of Comic-Con were the guy who got stabbed, and the guy who is going to jail.

Considering that Spider-Man hadn't HAD a showing a comic con in three years, that's not that big of a surprise. But that he "won" comic con?
No, just...

From reading the JMS comic-con article, I would say the wonder woman reaction. Am I a sick person for laughing when expected applauses do not occur or are weak. It's happened to me before, but but I still laugh... not to be mean of course, just happens.

Much as I'd like to say Spidey "won" at comicon, the cast of the Avengers assembling had to be the best moment of the Con.
EDIT: I think Spidey did win in the sense the news from Comic-Con has people talking about what's coming up for Spider-Man, rather than the current story-line, which has seemed to divisive to the readership again.

I agree, it certainly was up there as one of the highlights. That and footage from Tron: Legacy, AMC's Walking Dead, Ryan Reynolds reciting the Green Lantern oath for a young fan, and the surprise premiere of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Oh, and this quote from a certain upcoming video game: "Is that a...cartoon pig?"

Please. The current ASM staff (and their editor) do not care what the fans want. It's all just self-serve.

While I see where you're coming from, I also do think it is something of a competition. These cons are where a lot of buzz begin. People talk about what is showcased and announced. You want your product to be on the tip of everyone's tongues when they leave.

Who is the new Carnage/Hobgoblin?!
What "new" Hobgoblin? I thought it was "Hobgoblin is coming back," indicating the return of OG Hobgoblin Roderick Kingsley. I have zero interest in some new guy pulling a Macendale and besmirching Hobby's good name, like that loser in Secret War did.

So putting the "mysterious identity" element back into the character by positing the question "is it or isn't it Kingsley under the Hobgoblin mask?" Hmm. Yeah, I could go for that...

Going by the wings and the sword -- and the entire outfit, to be honest -- I'd say it's more a matter of when is this Hobgoblin from, rather than who it is.

Uhm....yeah. That's probably not Kingsley. And thus my interest in this wanes....

The Spidey news certainly pleased me the most, other than Morrison staying on the Bat-books.
