View Full Version : Recommend me an Xbox 360 game, please.
Hey, I'm looking to get another game, but not sure what. Basically, here's my current criteria...
I have been playing lots of RPGs lately, so no Fallout 3/Oblivion/Dragon Age/Mass Effect 2. I don't care for Halo nor Call of Duty, so scratch those. I want a good game (no shit?) that's quick to pick up and play and doesn't require a long gaming session just to get into. I'm a bit on a budget aswell, so no new 60 dollar games. I'm looking for something that's probably lower than 30 bucks used at your average game store. Here's my current 360 collection:
BioShock
Gears of War 1 & 2
Fable II
Batman Arkham Asylum
Grand Theft Auto IV
Dead Rising
Mass Effect
Left 4 Dead
Blue Dragon
Devil May Cry 4
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Resident Evil 5
Assassin's Creed
Dead Space
Final Fantasy XIII
I know my requirements are a bit picky, so any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, there's Fallout 3, Oblivion, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Halo 3 ODST. lol  Just teasing.
You can try Open Season. It's pretty fun. Not sure if you're into family games. Or if you're into those Lego games. If so, get the Star Wars collection. With all six episodes and co-op. Or just get one trilogy of your choosing.
If you like RTS games, there's Red Alert 3 and such. I don't know how they are, I only tried the demo and well, wasn't comfortable playing them on a console.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was good, but mostly as a rental. Same thing with Open Season. I would have suggested Alan Wake, but you want games under $30. Perhaps you can try the Orange Box? (Not sure on the price though)
Of all the games you listed, I'd say go for Batman, Dead Space, and Mass Effect. Bioshock is also a good choice. DMC4 is good. Gears of War series are also good. Resident Evil 5 is kind of a pain when playing solo. See if you can play co-op with someone. (could be split screen or online. Same with Gears) Don't like the GTA4.
I don't know if you're interested, but I could give you a few games from the arcade. Though most of them are shooters. Like that psychonetic war game. (Or whatever it was called) Zombie Estate is pretty funny. That's all I got for now.

If you're looking for something that doesn't take a large amount of time to get into I would get some MS Points and get something from the Live Arcade.
Personally I like Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers a lot.
The Sam & Max games were entertaining as well.

The obvious suggestions seem to be Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2.
Also Dragon Age Origins, Elder Scroills IV: Oblivions, Fall Out 3, Alpha Protocol, and Blood Bowl.
Stay away from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. It is a downgrade of the original game on every level except graphics.

You can get Bioshock 2 on amazon brand new now for $30 and Assassins Creed 2 for $37. I'm guessing you could get either used for less than that.

Earth Defense Force 2017. You (and preferrably another player) kill huge ants, spiders, robots, battleships, UFOs, and mechalizards. 53 stages. 150 weapons. It's an old 360 budget title that's easy to pick up and play. Surprisingly fun despite its flaws.

Yeah, if you're looking for quick pick up and play games, the arcade is the way to go. Just download a ton of demos and find out what you enjoy most. There's a LOT of great games on Arcade. Some of my favorites, if you like some specific examples:
Megaman 9 & 10
Puzzlequest
'Splosion Man
Castle Crashers

If you're a star wars fan then definitely pick up The Force Unleashed.

Saints Row 2 is mad, mad fun if you like sandbox games with lots of character customization.

Alan Wake is fantastic, and should be fairly affordable now if you can find a good deal.

u no it dawg
Seriously, my friend (who is female) and I played that crap foreeever. And our characters were not gangster at all. I think mine was a fat Asian woman. Which made it kind of weird when the character hits on strippers...

I'm having a lot of fun with LIMBO right now. It's short but it's really atmospheric and challenging and it's only 15 bucks on XBLMarketplace.
