Haven't posted in a while till recently because my family couldn't afford the internet. We've been having financial problems. It got so bad my mom couldn't pay the mortgage on the house my dad lived in (she was his land lady). Still in good news my dad has not been troubled by the police since that SWAT team busted in his old house (but we still dont know all the details), I just recieved a Pell Grant so I will be able to finish my schooling and a short horror film I directed will play at the local art house theater in october. Oh and we still dont have the internet on the computer but I do have it on my new phone that I got for my birthday.

Uh, no offense but that's really rude way to introduce yourself to the board.

Putting "no offense" in front of something doesn't really soften the words.

Yeah; that was a weird as hell first post.

[Moves onto other things]

Welcome back, Tet'.

I haven't been around much, but I did miss talking to you.

Hmm, lets, see, was I talking to either one of you??! NOPE! And he put the stuff out there, I'm just commenting on it. If you want to air out your dirty laundry, as the old saying goes, someone might just think it stinks.

Yeah tell me about it. I had to shake my head about that.

Anyone can get a Boost Mobile. Its $50 bucks a month , unlimited text, cell and internet. There is no contract. But hell...its not anyones business lol.

There is a way to comment and a way to comment. You choose to introduce yourself in the worst possible manner by berating someone when there was no need to do so.

I have to say as a mod of this board, if you continue in this vein, you won't last long.

And, back to other stuff, welcome back Tet! Great news on the movie, and I'm glad that some things are looking a little better.

It was an extremely odd way to introduce himself. I'd be suspicious.

Mine costs less than that. The deal my dad has costs 20 dollars a month. If I didnt have internet it wqiuld be 10 dollars a month. Which is really nice of my dad because since the move he's rarely spent money on anyone besides himself unless you help him around his apartment (which I sadly dont have the time or transportation to visit him often since he now lives on the other side of town). He pretty much insisted on buying me the pohone and paying the monthly fee since he hadnt gotten me a bday present.

It's really odd that so many people that were not being spoken to were so offended by a casual remark, and, one that is very true. Since Tetsu said it was a gift, and was speaking of his mother, it strongly implied that it was a gift from his mother, whom, he just stated, had lost the house she owned. So, it was a logical conclusion. Tetsu does not seem so offended by it so why do you all respond at all. I did not realize I needed a formal introduction to this comic thing, I accidently googled something incorrectly and was curious. However, my curiosity is sated as I do not really wish to be involved with people who are so easily offended by a remark not even addressed to them, it was basically NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. I like forums where you are allowed to express your opinions and have a nice debate, so I guess this is not of interest to me. And all those weird avies kinda freak me out anyhow. And OMG a MOD is going to get me! HA! Bye guys, it was sure not a lot of fun. And, maybe, just maybe, I'm tired of my tax dollars going to places they should not be going.

For the record I was a bit offended but mostly my feelings were a bit hurt. I didn't point it out because I thought it might be obvious. Then i hoped that if I explained things everything would turn out fine. I just dont like getting into confrontations.

Well sorry I didn't mean to hurt feelings. I guess I think too logically rather than emotionally so sometimes things come out pretty straight. And I would bet I'm a lot older than the majority of the people on this forum and than you are...and it's been pounded into me that you do not spend money on "fluff" when you can't pay the rent, and I learned it myself the hard way...had a lot of "stuff" then suddenly, no pay day for a short time, and that was all it took. Okay, lets be practical and nosey, you say you are going to go back to school so who pays the $50.00 per month? Just sayin'. Because those are the little details I never used to bother about, get it now pay for it...maybe...in the future. But then the money was not there. Back in the old days, I worked part time and went to school part time, there were no free rides, and you were expected to get out of the house and get a job. so maybe I'm jealous of those that can still live at home somehow and not work and yet go to school. Does not seem fair but it's just a sign of the times I guess. I guess this is more of a melodrama than a comic. So, anyhow, this isn't fhe forum for me I don't think no sense of humor here at all.

My Pell Grant from the government pays for my tuition and books. By the way I do also work for minimum wage and almost all the money I make goes towards money for food for my mom and brother. My younger brother also helps pay for food while our moiom pays for insurance, utilities and etc. I will admit I feel a bit bad that I haven't graduated yet from community college after going for four years. Keep in mind that i have a learning disability so the amount of hours that count as full time is less (meaning I took less classes a semmester than those without a learning disability). I also recently changed my transfer degree to a degree in Electronic Media Production.

Well, yes, you are right 4 years is a long time even at part time for Comm. college. But it sounds like changing your Major is a good idea. Have a marketable skill, keep writing after working hours! If you have a disability you could probably get insurance through the state so your mom would not have to pay for it, couldn't you? At least, where I live you could I think. Good luck with your new major and hopefully some of your past credits will count towards it, when would you expect to finish?

Tetsuo_man

1 half to 2 years. I do have some credits that I did need already.

I think the miscaculation you made was that you didn't realize Tesuo has friends here who would take offense on his behalf.

although honestly, he DID title the thread "I'm Back". . .if he didn't have quite a few friends here, why would he bother posting with that title?

YABS is a pretty close knit group -- not that new folks don't join all the time, but we tend to look out for our own.

You seem to be making some pretty good (and rational) points, so I hope you stick around.

(but you shouldn't mock the Mod).

Well, I've been on my own since I was 17 1/2 (no, I did NOT have to walk to school in the snow!!) so I guess I'm not used to be told what to do. I've made my own way with no ones help, maybe I was lucky, but I'm nothing special so I expect that other people should be able to figure things out also. And, I've never completed college. So, yep, maybe my logical brain got me through some tough times. I'm truly not that into this type of comic...I used to buy Jughead type comics.LOL

you'll discover on this particular board, we don't really talk about comics that much (just look at the threads on the 1st page) :)

Mostly if it's comics related, it has to do with the comics that Gail Simone (the Moderator and figurehead of this board) writes: currently: Birds of Prey, Secret Six, and Welcome to Tranquility. . and she just finished up a decent sized run on Wonder Woman all from DC comics.

Well, no, there are a good bunch of us over 40 here.

And I probably could have responded more logically but I didn't because it seemed such a rough way to come into a board.

I should have pointed out that not only is sometimes a cell phone the only one someone has, that having a phone is a really important thing in getting and keeping a job, and that having internet right now, especially in this job market and when taking college courses is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Half the stuff my daughter has to take on her college courses is on the web.

$50 for both phone and web service is a good price, plus $50 is certainly not going to pay anyone's mortgage. It might, however, help someone check online job listings or course listing and thus result in employment down the line.

Especially if that phone is the only way an employer or teacher can reach you.
