Let me read you a story...

Thought this was worth sharing - My new Glow-in-the-Dark Radio Podcast up this weekend features the last two chapters of my science fiction adventure Vatican Assassin – Remastered
http://glowinthedarkradio.podomatic.com/entry/2010-07-10T13_29_05-07_00

In addition to wrapping up the audiobook with chapters thirty and thirty-one of the novel, there's some bonus material – my capsulized history of Vatican Assassin, a sort of "state of the book" rundown of sales and listeners, and the Vatican Assassin – Remastered theme played in its entirety.

By the way... This IS related to comic books - Vatican Assassin is now being adapted and released as a comic book/graphic novel by myself and artist Christian Navarro. Issue #3 is in the works! You can read the comic free online or get the issues from Indy Planet (links are here – http://glowinthedarkradio.com).

As Vatican Assassin opens, it's 2109 and an interplanetary religious war is raging between Earth, The Moon and Mars. BC – Bernard Campion – may appear to be a priest in the New catholic Church, but he's actually an undercover assassin for the Pope. His assignment? Visit the city on the Moon, Lunar Prime, act as Public Relations liaison for the Cardinal there – And assassinate the Governor of Lunar Prime, Meredith McEntyre...

If you want to start at the beginning, the free serialization of Vatican Assassin – Remastered began back on Glow-in-the-Dark Radio Episode Ninety-Five here: http://glowinthedarkradio.podomatic.com/en...T16_54_51-07_00

My podcasts feature intros, news, a chapter or two of the book and bonus material. If you'd rather just listen to the chapters without additional chatter, you can. Listen and/or download the free audiobook as mp3 files at Podiobooks: http://www.podiobooks.com/title/vatican-assassin-remastered

Thanks for listening!

yup. one of the comics I have from the late 90's pulled this stunt. the comic included a cd of the comic and all so you could watch and listen to some stuff. but the comic itself was horrible. and Fred Perry put out some cd for his Gold Digger series a while back. But it too, was in the very early stages of cheap animation and all.

Interesting, mgs! Do you remember what the 90s comic was? I kind of skipped the 90s, comics-wise. I'll have to check out the Perry stuff, too.

Mine's a bit different... not so much a stunt as another way of telling the story. The audiobook actually came first, as both the audio and the comic book are based on a novel. The novel has been out for a couple of years - the comic book is JUST coming out. Issues 1 & 2 are out now (you can read them free, just see my sig) and we're working on #3 now.

Hope you'll check it out... if you do, let me know what you think :)

Answering your initial question, yes, I've heard FF #1, Journey into Mystery #84 (first Thor) and Avengers #4 all dramatized on record. There were a set of Marvel mags recorded on full length LPs about 1966 or so, with a cheap, advert free copy of the comic included inside. The productions were overly dramatic, but then none of the characters sounded the way they did in my head.

You haven't lived until you've heard someone reading the sound effects to you... "Rumble, Rumble, Roar" from FF#1... sheesh!

BTW... I do actually perform my own SFX, too... though with reverb and sfx on my voice, hopefully my "FWASH!" and "KA-THANG!" don't sound too awful ;)

Some people like it. Others... not so much.

Power Records did a slew of them in the 1970's...a lot of DC stuff. But they also did a decent amount of Marvel stuff too. Hulk, Spidey, FF, even Werewolf by Night. I had "The Incredible Hulk At Bay", which was a read-along to HULK #171, wore out so many needles on the record player back then.
Here's the Power Records one of the FF, which I forget the issue #:

Also, here's one of FF #4, narrated by Stan Lee, and features a young Bill Murray as the Human Torch!

I had the Untold Legends Of The Batman miniseries along with audio tapes. I tossed out the tapes. Wish I had kept them though.

Not exactly what I was talking about...

But I do think the world of C&C is pretty cool - my favorite is In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, now showing up in comic book form, actually.
