This week, the comic world was privileged to see yet another Dynamo 5 comic!
Here's your all-purpose thread for discussing the mini.
I'll limit spoilers here, largely so people are more tempted to go out and buy the comic itself.
Here are the basic items in the first issue: Dynamo 5 deal with a threat of robots in the city, there's a flashback to a Captain Dynamo adventure wherein he interacts with other Image characters, and insight into the team's personal lives, including a couple dates.
Also, there is a back-up feature with a seemingly unrelated hero named Notorious.
The art, though not as good as Asrar's, is solid stuff. It keeps with the general style set before and continues to provide big, dynamic actions sequences.
Here (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=5516)'s CBR's preview of the issue. It should give you an idea what the comic's like.
Overall, I like the comic, though feel a bit lukewarm to it. As the first issue of a mini, it doesn't really seem like a great jumping-on point. For example, the stuff with F.L.A.G. and the counter team might be confusing to new readers. Heck, the inclusion of the counter team was confusing to me, considering they don't do anything of note this issue. Another confusing item related to that sequence is the footnote detailing what F.L.A.G. stands for, while the acronym itself doesn't appear anywhere on the page.
On a different note, I can't figure out how much time has passed since the last story. On the one hand, they don't seem to quite have learned their powers or names yet. On the other, Bridget's relationship has apparently progressed to the point that they're sleeping together.
That itself seems odd just because the last time we saw them together, she seemed a bit put off by his wanting to learn more about the team. Even here she seems to just be grilling him for information. Is she acting a sort of spy for the team, determining what he knows, or is the relationship genuine? If the former, why sleep with him? If the latter, why be impersonal?
