Hi I was wondering if any of you knew some essential reading that shows the development of the invisible woman's character any help would be great thank you.

The John Bryne run is your best bet. It's when she changed her code name, and Bryne really developed her more.

Although not half as good as Bryne's run, Defalco also made her leader of the team when Reed was presumed dead. She also wore a ridicously skimpy costume, partially because she had developed a bit of a 'dark side' persona.

Wasn't there some good Sue material in Marvel Knights : Four ?

There's so many FF stories it kinda blends together...

I agree with Ghostwise, so much material in FF that I would just pick it up from the start. Sue develops so much over the course of every issue, and there is no defining point where she really becomes truly independent. It's a gradual thing.
