Deadpool:

1) Ryan Reynolds.
Farking hilarious comic timing. Imagine even just the way he'd deliver all the little "...ouch" lines, as Wade loses skin, flesh, appendages, etc. Plus, if we're talking about Deadpool in his own movie (as opposed to an appearance in an X-sequel), think about the flashbacks and old photos with Reynolds' all-american mug smiling ridiculously like some goofy, ultra-white, polo-playing fool. Just a funny contrast to what he later becomes.

2) Owen Wilson.
A little more laid-back, more like a reluctant merc who is baffled by the absurdity of the world he's found himself in.

3) Henry Rollins.
Getting a little into B-movie territory here, but still accurate casting. Only about half as funny.



Shaw:

1) Russell Crowe.
Shaw is utterly in love with his own masculinity. Sees morals as weaknesses. Gets what he wants through charisma and sheer force of will. Everything is sex to him. Crowe can play this all too well.

2) Sam Neill.
Accurate casting, but also predictable. Haven't seen him do anything new for a looong time. Just wanted to mention him before someone else did, if only to point out how boring his "accurate portrayal" would be.



Emma:

1) Naomi Watts.
Versatile, sexy, forceful, damaged. Naomi has a mystery about her onscreen--you feel like there's more under the surface that she's holding back, but still she delivers solid performances. And of course, her looks are dead-on perfect for Emma.

2) Portia de Rossi.
I used to think of her as a cheap, semi-charismatic TV actress, but 'Arrested Development' changed my mind. Big fan now. I imagine her playing up the damaged angle even more than Naomi.



Forge:

Yikes. I'm stumped. Really depends on what role his character will play in the story. You may end up with very different casting choices if he's a love interest for Storm (whoever ends up playing her), a driven inventor, a helpless mutant being manipulated into creating weapons for the enemy, or what-have-you.



And since you didn't ask...

Gambit: 1) Adrian Brody. 2) Viggo Mortensen.

Beast: 1) Jon Favreau.

Pierce OR Trask: 1) William Atherton. Equally well-suited to either part.

Vin Diesel. I SAW "XXX," and it was purile crap! Diesel is incapable of acting, and seeing him with Asia Argento made me think the rumours re: his sexuality are probably true.

The DVD commentary of X-men #1 has Singer and his co-commentator (the producer IIRC) talking about 'somebody' who wanted to do the role of Xavier and would have been "interesting" (said with a nice amount of understatement.) Casting the role for Sebastian Shaw? Sean Bean, who played Boromir in LoTR: The Fellowship. I could see him as Shaw, he'd bring some weight to that role.

Me and my friend were doing some what ifs on the X3 movie and wondering who could play what characters.

If we assume that it is going to by a Phoenix story then they are either going to create an original story or go with a popular yarn like Dark Phoenix.

I agree! She would be great. She's made a career out of playing scary powerful women. I would also cast:

Peta Wilson (who played in the tv series La Femme Nikita and League of Extraordinary Gentleman). She has an amazing husky voice and haughty manner that would make for some classic Emma moments.

Jeri Ryan (played Seven of Nine in Voyager): She's statuesque, has an incredible body, and the acting chops to pull of a cold and calculating blonde.

Kristanna Loken is a great choice. I met her parents a couple of weeks ago in Ghent, NY and they couldn't be nicer.

Loken is interesting and quirky. And as likable as she is, there is an undercurrent of something you just don't trust about her - perfect for Emma in that regard. The sexy factor is a given.

Hmm... the problem with Madrox is that you'd need someone with incredible range. Not only does he need to be able to convey to the audience an image of a deeply lonely, emotionally scarred young man who tries to mask his emotional problems with sarcasm, he'd also have to be able to play a number of distinct characters in the same movie, since you'd presumably want to touch on the "dupes have slightly different personalities" and "evil Madrox" parts of his history.

Good question... I need to think about that one some more.

B)go the Ultimate route and have her musical style change..."Alison Blair" is that type of name that could fit any racial group...

I'd choose Ashlee Simpson to play Magik, because believe it or not, I think Ashlee is a very talented actress (much more so than a singer). Plus, she's got this weird kind of quirky beauty - the same kind of mix of sweet and innocent, yet otherworldly that I've always pictured Illyana Rasputin as having. Ashlee has a really unique look with her flawed nose and killer smile. I can't imagine anybody else as playing Magik.

Jaime Pressly would definitely be my first choice to play Dazzler. Maybe it's because I picture the movie-adaptation of Dazzler as being a parody of the snotty pop-princess archtype. Check out Jaime as Prescilla the cheerleader in 'NOT Another Teen Movie', if you want to see what I mean in terms of her ability to play a role like that. Jaime's a total Barbie-type on and off camera, but from interviews I've seen with her, she's hilarious and is definitely smart enough to play a dumb/bitchy character.

Just my reasoning behind those two choices.

Oh, and by the way, maybe that's just a bad pic of Kip Pardue (Havok). That guy is basically genetic perfection, and makes me jealous.

I'm looking at sex apeal. That's what makes Emma Frost who she is. Marcell has plenty of it. Her experience in melodrama would bring a lot of characterization to Emma. She could pull off the sexy/confident without overly being a bitch. Carly could play the part too, I'm just thinking of who gives me more wood.

Exact matches in comic book translations aren't very important. A lot of liberty is taken in comic/movie translations. Who thought Kirsten Dunst would make a good Mary Jane? I just didn't think she was sexy enough and now I can't see anyone else doing it. A black Kingpin? I thought that buffed out version was alot better than some Butterbean lookalike.

i would take Eliza Dushku as Polaris before i take Amber Benson.

I prefer Eliza as Black Cat in Spider-Man 3, Hawkgirl in any live action JLA/JSA movie, or even the Scarlet Witch.

Amber has the ability to pull out loving, supportive, and reluctant qualities in Polaris. I think that Polaris SHOULDN'T look or act like a bad-ass the first time we see her on film. She's one of the few who hasn't leaped to answer Xavier's call. Amber seems more like an actress who could make that believable, yet show a core of inner strength.

I stick with Christian Kane for Gambit. He can believably play action roles, has the look (he would look stunning with the dark eyes) and I don't doubt his ability to do Southern accents (boy IS from Oklahoma, after all!).

I always saw her as a normal looking woman who makes herself beautiful through clothes and make-up (and surgery), but I could be wrong. Tilda Swinton would make a nice contrast to Famke, though- they're both very tall, strong and angular.

I think Emma should look like an Extreme Makeover contestant after the fact - all fake beauty put together perfectly. She shouldn't look normally beautiful but look like everyone's idea of what beauty should look like if you could piece it together. I imagine Jean Grey is supposed to be amazingly beautiful naturally. Emma started out as a cold perfection, and just because she's changed sides doesn't mean she should have changed looks. Actually, the way Bryne originally drew her, she was quite pointy-faced. Tilda Swinton would be great methinks - although more natural that Emma should be.

Perfection! Although the Aussie actress on Lost (the one playing the American criminal-at-large, whose name I forget) would do perfectly as well. except maybe she would make a better Wonder Woman.
